then the next chapter it is revealed that mc was a former delinquent gang leader that goes down the righteous path saving lost people from misery or smth.
Really how did this turn from a nice romcom into the author’s wet dream how he wishes his life to be in just two chapters?

Its so annoyingly unrealistic… pls Idc make them beautifull and all that but please stop creating these weird Chūnibyō like settings in which there are some sort of “popular” characters that are portraied like they are literally not humans or some kind of Nobility that everyone sees as Superhuman Beeings. Its unrealistic weird and creates an inbalance between the Mc and the rest of the side characters that is just annoying

Ugh, it’s so lame when they act all edgelordy and like “Because of my dark past, I can never experience a feeling such as love or be close to another person”. It’s like he’s a cringey chuuni. They keep talking about how mature he is but this kinda shit makes him more childish than everyone else in the novel.
It’s a bit too out there for my taste. I’d prefer a slightly more realistic backstory in a non-fantasy story.
Hrm, the MC’s increasingly starting to feel like a Gary Stu. He’s like, the smartest person in the whole novel, super strong, previously the leader of a band of delinquents with hearts of gold, but also from a super wealthy and prominent family, but he’s not arrogant, he’s also an extremely socially competent saint. It’s a little annoying that he has no flaws. Like I said before, it’s nice that there’s a good reason that the heroine is into him, but it’s bad when it goes too far in the other direction. This is why one of my favorite MCs is Tadano from Komi-san, cause he strikes a really nice balance between being charismatic and likeable but also timid and humble.
So the guy Chifuyu likes is also the MC.
It’s really nice with an MC who actually deserves the heroine falling in love with him.

It feels a bit ridiculous that she’d be live tweeting using touch typing in her pocket while pretending to be asleep. Might as well have just given him mind-reading abilities, it’d work the same way.

I know, but I mean, it’s just not a reasonable thing anyone would believably do, it’s clearly just because the author wants to capitalize on this concept that he knows her secret account as much as possible. That’s why I feel like it would’ve been better to just give him the ability to read her mind, cause then you wouldn’t need to create these super convoluted situations just so the MC can see what her genuine thoughts are.
Damn, he really took her for a ride in this chapter.
I like that he actually expresses affection and sympathy for her, despite his weird “rule”. In a lot of novels like this, it’s hard to understand why the FL likes the MC, because they’re completely up their own ass. But this guy is actually nice and actually seems to like the FL too (if not in the romantic sense, at least as a person).

Because the concept of this genre is wish fulfilment. It’s what most readers want. You can self-insert as the lonely nerd MC and imagine a life of being desired by, dating and being friends with a bunch of hot and popular people. And honestly, it works. It’s like literature fast food, it ain’t nothing special, but it’s tasty and I can eat a lot of it.
