Can a System Have Bad Intentions? - Chapter 125
Moments later, Song Qingzhan took Xie Chengnian and Xie Yu away.
The room became quiet.
Lu Tang scrambled out from under the bed as if her backside were on fire, taking two large steps away from it. She glanced sideways at Qin Mo, who also emerged.
Despite the awkwardness of the situation, the dignified chief still managed to look impressive even crawling out from under a bed.
Licking her lips, Lu Tang forced herself to appear calm and worldly, “Are you ready?”
Qin Mo glanced down, “Not entirely, but we can leave.”
Lu Tang immediately walked towards the window, her posture indicating she was ready to jump out at any moment.
After taking just a couple of steps, Qin Mo hooked her by the neck and pulled her back.
“Where are you going?”
Qin Mo’s voice came from above her, his warm breath brushing against her. Lu Tang swallowed, her face hot, “Didn’t you say we could leave?”
Qin Mo chuckled and tilted his head, “Through the door.”
Once outside the Prosperity Inn, the night breeze cooled Lu Tang’s awkwardness, clearing her mind. She belatedly turned to Qin Mo, “Did you know Xie Chengnian was here all along?”
Qin Mo, still uncomfortable and walking with some awkwardness, replied without looking at her, “Not for long. I found out half an hour before you knocked on the door.”
Lu Tang continued, “And Brother Song? Why was he there?”
Qin Mo turned to look at her, “Are you more concerned about Xie Yu or Song Qingzhan?”
Lu Tang hesitated and then said, “I care about you.”
Qin Mo:!
The slight relief he had been feeling evaporated with those four words, causing his tension to resurface.
They stared at each other for a moment before both looked away. Qin Mo took a deep breath, clenching his fists, “When I received the information, I sent Song Qingzhan to clear the area.”
Clear the area?
Lu Tang realized that despite the commotion in the room earlier, no other guests had come to watch, and no staff had checked on the situation. After everything was over, no one came to collect debts or investigate.
Perplexed, she turned to Qin Mo, “If Brother Song had already cleared the area, why did we have to climb through the window?”
Qin Mo:…
He turned his head away, refusing to answer.
Lu Tang, as if struck by a whip of realization, jumped up and stared at Qin Mo, “Did you just want to hold me?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, she thought, what am I saying?
Meanwhile, the seasoned rogue Qin Mo’s ears turned red.
The briefly eased tension returned with new awkwardness.
They fell into silence.
After walking a while in the night breeze, Qin Mo cleared his throat, “Are you hungry?”
Lu Tang, her mind replaying the scene under the bed, instinctively turned to Qin Mo, “You… still seem unsettled. Do you need to… handle it?”
Her words shocked both herself and Qin Mo.
System:!
[My goodness, do you know you’re a woman?!]
“So what? Should I act like a demure little wife and stay three feet away from Qin Mo? Or hang myself with a white silk ribbon to declare my chastity?”
[No one’s asking you to declare your chastity, but you can’t be this explicit!]
“This is explicit? You should hear what those old men said at company dinners. That was explicit, and I had to endure it. If I got upset, they’d mockingly say, ‘Can’t take a joke? How will you sign this deal then?'”
Lu Tang rolled her eyes.
Despite arguing with the system, Lu Tang refrained from saying anything more, and they walked back to the Prosperity Inn in silence.
As they neared the inn’s entrance, Qin Mo suddenly grabbed her hand.
Startled, Lu Tang stopped and looked at him, raising an eyebrow, “Yes?”
Qin Mo, face taut, said, “I’ve never done this with anyone else.”
After speaking, he let go of her hand and walked into the inn with large strides.
Lu Tang was stunned.
What does this mean?
Is Qin Mo explaining because he feels… something?
Wait!
No!
In Qin Mo’s eyes, she’s still a man!
So tonight, to Qin Mo, he reacted to a man?
Damn!
The romantic feelings Lu Tang had vanished completely.
Why was she expecting anything? It was clear now—Qin Mo liked men!
Lu Tang, who had lived two lives and finally developed feelings for someone, realized she had fallen for a gay man?
Frustrated, she scratched her head and went back to her room.
When Qin Mo returned, Song Qingzhan was already there. Seeing Qin Mo, Song Qingzhan was puzzled, “What’s wrong with you?”
Qin Mo looked confused, “What’s wrong?”
Then, realizing what Song might be implying, he quickly checked himself.
Relieved, he looked up at Song Qingzhan with confusion.
Song Qingzhan, noticing Qin Mo’s red ears, asked, “What were you doing? I cleared the area, why did you climb through the window with Young Master Lu? It seemed to scare him—he clung to you and wouldn’t let go.”
Pausing, a gleam flashed in Song Qingzhan’s eyes as he seemed to realize something, “You don’t mean…”
Qin Mo interrupted, “I’m going to sleep. You handle the interrogation. Report back to me with the results.”
Without waiting for a response, Qin Mo went to bed and pulled the covers over his head.
Song Qingzhan hesitated but then left.
After a restless night and a busy day, Qin Mo was indeed tired, but closing his eyes brought back memories of the scene under the bed. He couldn’t stop thinking about how close they had been and how Lu Tang had clung to him. It was distracting and confusing.
Finally, he managed to drift off to sleep, though his dreams were filled with images of Lu Tang and the confusing feelings she stirred in him.
