“Oh, little baby.” She gently picked up the puppy, cradling it in her arms.

The puppy seemed to recognize her, licking her hand with its warm, wet tongue, sending a tingling sensation up her arm.

Cradling her new puppy, Lu Tang cheerfully went downstairs.

There was a guest checking in, and as Qiao Fugui finished registering them, Er Bao led the guest upstairs. Spotting the puppy in Lu Tang’s arms, Er Bao’s eyes lit up.

After escorting the guest to their room, Er Bao rushed back downstairs, “Master, when did you get a puppy?”

Lu Tang placed the puppy on a table by the window, where sunlight streamed in, making its soft fur gleam invitingly.

Zhou Shu and Guo Dawei gathered around, while Er Bao leaned over, gently poking the puppy with a finger, “Master, does it have a name?”

“Why don’t you name it?” Lu Tang smiled.

Er Bao thought for a moment, then earnestly looked at Lu Tang, “Can we call it Da Bao?”

“Your brother?” Zhou Shu rolled his eyes at Er Bao. “You do know your brother will kill you if he finds out, right?”

Guo Dawei laughed, “Are you trying to claim the puppy for yourself? That’s sneaky.”

Xu Shen added, “Big name ‘Dog,’ nickname ‘Da Bao’?”

Er Bao hurriedly protested, “No, I just miss my brother.

“I had a dream about him last night, and he was hurt.

“They say giving a child a humble name helps them live longer. If I name the puppy Da Bao, then my brother’s name will be a dog’s name, and he’ll stay safe.”
