Can a System Have Bad Intentions? - Chapter 97
Yuhang was bustling, and there were many inns, but it took them a while to find a place to stay. They finally stopped in front of an inn called Laifu.
This inn still had enough rooms, but only two people per room.
The inn’s staff led their horses to the backyard, while another staff member enthusiastically helped them check in.
“My house is too small, otherwise, I would have invited you to stay there,” said Xie Yu, holding his puppy Da Bao, feeling guilty as he followed the group upstairs to their rooms. “This place is too expensive.”
Laifu was considered a top-tier inn in Yuhang, comparable to the Qiao Family Inn in Qingshui County.
Lu Tang laughed, “We’ll come to your house for food and drink tomorrow. Tell your grandfather to prepare.”
Hearing no blame or complaints, Xie Yu’s dull eyes brightened as he looked at Lu Tang, “You don’t blame me?”
Zhou Shu put an arm around Xie Yu’s shoulder, “Old Xie, if you really forced us to stay in your shabby house, I would be mad at you. We are pampered young masters; we can’t endure hardship. We need to stay in good places when we go out.”
Beside them, Xu Shen added, “Yes, we pampered young masters can’t stay in places that don’t cost money.”
Xie Yu couldn’t tell if they were joking or serious.
Guo Dawei couldn’t stand it and punched Xu Shen, “Stop bullying the honest man.” He turned to Xie Yu, “Old Xie, don’t listen to them. But staying in an inn is indeed more convenient and comfortable. This inn may be expensive, but it’s worth it for the good conditions.”
None of them were short on money.
Xie Yu, who had been worried all the way, finally felt relieved.
Liang Cheng took his gaze off Lu Tang and looked at Xie Yu, “Are you staying with us tonight or going home first?”
“I’ll go home first. My grandfather doesn’t know I’m back. If he knew I had so many friends…” Xie Yu, the burly man with a face of a forty-five-year-old, choked up and couldn’t continue.
Zhou Shu patted his back, “Go on, prepare some good food and drink, and take us out tomorrow.”
If Xie Yu had heard this word “go” before, it would have felt like a stab in his heart. But now, hearing it from Zhou Shu, he left with a smile, feeling much more at ease.
However, before leaving, Lu Tang pulled him aside and reminded him not to mention Qin Mo and Song Qingzhan.
Initially, they were paired in twos, but with Xie Yu gone, there was an extra room. Liang Cheng looked at Lu Tang and was about to speak, but Lu Tang shouted, “I’m taking the single room! Don’t anyone dare fight me for it!”
Zhou Shu rolled his eyes, “Who’s fighting you for it?”
Xu Shen laughed, leaning against the wall, “Exactly, Zhou Shu wants to share a bed with Brother Liang tonight.”
“Get lost!”
Except for Lu Tang who had a single room, the rest paired up and went to their rooms.
After a long journey, Lu Tang enjoyed a refreshing bath and changed into clean clothes before sprawling out on the bed.
Although this inn was top-tier in Yuhang, Lu Tang thought it wasn’t as refined as the Qiao Family Inn.
Tsk~
Opening an inn here wouldn’t be a bad idea.
“Host, the task is almost due. Hurry up!” the system’s mournful voice echoed in Lu Tang’s mind.
Lu Tang rolled her eyes, “You can’t load the task or the deadline. How am I supposed to complete anything?”
The system fell silent.
Lu Tang pondered the task given by the system.
The Champion System tasks were usually about completing something and earning the Champion title. Given the system’s usual nature, the task was probably tricky.
Was it a competition with Xie Chengnian?
No, the system usually just specifies completing a task, not competing with someone.
So, it’s completing a task related to Xie Chengnian.
Ugh!
Lu Tang felt like she’d never used her brain this much in her life.
Just as she was struggling, noises came from outside, followed by a loud knocking on her door, startling her. She jumped up, put on her shoes, and ran to open the door.
The innkeeper stood at the door with a troubled look, accompanied by a burly man who looked like trouble. “Is that your carriage outside?”
Lu Tang hadn’t figured out what he meant when the man threw a piece of silver at her, “Our boss Dou fancies your horse. Here’s the money for it.”
He turned to leave without waiting for her response.
Lu Tang realized what was happening.
They had encountered a bully.
The silver piece wasn’t even an ounce, yet they wanted to take their horse?
Hearing the commotion, the others opened their doors.
Zhou Shu, fresh out of the bath with wet hair, glanced at Lu Tang, “What’s going on?”
This question seemed to anger the man who had been leaving. He stopped at the stairs and turned back, glaring at Liang Cheng, “Shut up! I’ve paid for the horse!”
Full of youthful vigor, Liang Cheng was furious, rolling up his sleeves and charging forward, “Who are you cursing at?”
The innkeeper hurried to intervene, but not only couldn’t he stop Liang Cheng, Xu Shen, and Guo Dawei also rushed forward. The innkeeper quickly ran to Lu Tang.
“Young man, it’s not worth it to provoke the local bullies. You’re here for business, right? It’s not worth the trouble, and it will only delay you.”
He was not only afraid of trouble in the inn but also genuinely worried for them.
“This Boss Dou is a well-known figure here. Even the officials give him some face. If you provoke them, you won’t be able to accomplish anything.”
Lu Tang didn’t want trouble either.
Taking a loss was better than causing more trouble, especially since they were unfamiliar with the place and didn’t want to drag Xie Yu’s family into it.
“No need to argue. They’ve paid for the horse,” Lu Tang quickly tried to pull her brothers back.
Liang Cheng, usually calm, seemed unusually agitated today. Like an enraged lion, he threw a punch at the man without a word, hitting his nose.
Blood spurted from the man’s nose.
“I’ll kill you!”
The man, a bully by nature, wasn’t about to take the hit. He swung his iron-like fists at Liang Cheng.
Although Liang Cheng knew martial arts, the man was no pushover. Even with Xu Shen and Guo Dawei helping, the man grabbed Liang Cheng by the collar and threw him out the window.
Fortunately, it was only the second floor. Though not fatal, it scared everyone as they rushed outside.
