Do Aliens Also Have Arranged Marriages? - Chapter 1
Chapter 1 – Travelling with Humans
A young man in a black hooded sweatshirt squatted on the ground, his arms around his knees, his head shaking uncontrollably.
The wide hood of the sweatshirt slid back, gradually revealing a pale face. A few strands of messy, slightly curly black hair hung down, half covering the gentle and harmless eyebrows.
As if because he had waited too long, the young man looked like he had fallen asleep.
The roar of an engine came from a distance. The young man moved his ears and squatted in place without any reaction.
Until the sound produced by the tires rolling over gravel became clearer, the young man finally opened his eyes, stood up, yawning sleepily.
A black armored vehicle appeared in sight, and Jian Ning became alert and his sleepiness immediately vanished.
He waved his hands as hard as he could, a big smile on his face.
He looked so harmless.
The armored vehicle drove straight towards him.
Of course, the main reason the armored vehicle was coming towards him was because Jian Ning was standing in the middle of the only passable road.
Seeing the armored vehicle slow down, Jian Ning’s smile became sincere.
But soon, Jian Ning discovered that several dark gun muzzles were quietly poking out from the gaps in the armored vehicle, and these muzzles were pointed at him silently.
Apparently, his smile just now did not seem to infect the people in the car.
Jian Ning’s expression froze, he blinked, and then raised his hands above his head like the criminals in TV dramas did, seemingly trying to prove that he was not aggressive at all.
The vehicle stopped in front of him and a fully armed man stepped out.
“Human?”
Jian Ning glanced at the gun held high in the man’s hand and nodded innocently: “Yes.”
A year ago, he was a 21st century college student, a genuine human being.
Although there are some minor changes in his body now, Jian Ning still firmly believes that he is a human.
The man pointed the gun at him, not letting down his guard: “Turn around.”
Jian Ning did as he was told.
The man’s eyes quickly swept over the body of the young man in front of him. After confirming that the person in front of him did not have any abnormal characteristics, he finally lowered the muzzle of the gun and gestured to the people in the car.
Jian Ning also looked back and saw that the guns that had been pointed at him were finally put away.
“Get on.”
Jian Ning followed the man into the car.
As soon as he entered the vehicle, everyone’s eyes were focused on him.
The young man was thin, and his face was covered with dirty dust and dirt, making it difficult to see his appearance. It seemed that he had not washed himself carefully for a long time.
The tall and thin man sitting opposite looked Jian Ning up and down and asked casually, “Where are you from? There haven’t been any survivors found outside the base for almost two years.”
In the early days after the catastrophe, there were hundreds of survivor bases of all sizes scattered around the world. At that time, there were also many survivors living alone outside the bases.
But now it is the twelfth year since the disaster struck, and there are only a dozen or so survivors left in the countless bases that existed in the beginning. It is impossible for there to be any lucky ones surviving alone.
Jian Ning glanced at the man and used the explanation he had prepared long ago: “My name is Jian Ning, and I left the Base 107 with my friends.”
“Base 107?” The faces of the people in the car changed instantly.
A month ago, Base 107 suddenly lost contact with the Central Base.
After discovering the anomaly, the Central Base immediately sent a team of soldiers from the mopping-up force to check the situation.
By the time the extermination troops arrived at Base 107, it had already turned into a dead city.
Overnight, 130,000 people were either turned into shapeless remains on the ground, or were infected and turned into alien species, frantically gnawing on the flesh and blood of their former relatives or friends.
Countless numbers of alien species occupied the entire base.
An invasion of this magnitude could never have been silent, yet no base received the distress signal from Base 107 the night before.
Jian Ning’s face was pale, with a trace of lingering fear in his eyes, as if he also knew about the bizarre and tragic incident: “My friends and I left before the accident, and we just happened to escape.”
“Everyone said that the defense level of the Central Base is safer. After discussing it with my friends, we left Base 107 and prepared to live in Central Base. But on the way, we also encountered aliens…”
As he spoke, his tone became sad.
Everyone could guess what happened.
After a brief silence, the tall and thin man sneered and asked, “So, you are the only one who survived?”
Jian Ning nodded but said nothing, seeming to be still immersed in sadness and unable to extricate himself.
The young man in front of him looked incredibly weak and didn’t look like the only survivor who could escape from the alien species.
The only possibility is that the young man used his companions to delay time.
Everyone in the car had different expressions, and they all thought in the same direction, but no one said anything more.
In this doomsday, the most important thing is to survive, and being selfish and cold-blooded is understandable.
Besides, what does a stranger’s character have to do with them?
After mentioning the tragic incident at Base 107, a heavy atmosphere enveloped the car, and the car fell into silence for a while.
Jian Ning huddled in a corner and breathed a sigh of relief.
He had managed to get through the first level temporarily.
Perhaps because of his appearance that was exactly the same as that of a human, the people in the car did not doubt his human identity.
Since traveling to this world, Jian Ning has discovered that all alien species have very obvious alien-like features in their appearance.
The aliens cannot think and have no consciousness. They are just zombies that only know how to kill and feed. They do not have the intelligence and ability to disguise themselves as humans.
Jian Ning sat in the corner and began to look at the people in the car silently.
They didn’t look like the special forces responsible for going out to clean up the aliens, nor did they look like regular soldiers. They looked more like a temporarily organized team.
A foreign man with a big beard took out a crumpled cigarette from his bag.
Clatter–
The sound of the metal lighter being turned was very clear in the quiet surrounding.
The bearded man squinted his eyes, took a deep breath, and blew out a smoke ring comfortably.
A pungent smell quickly spread in the carriage.
Jian Ning frowned slightly.
He hates the smell of cigarettes.
But the suspicion that everyone had towards him had not completely disappeared, and he still had to rely on these people to sneak into the base. Now was not the time to offend them.
Fortunately, besides him, there were other people in the car who hated the choking smell of smoke.
“John, do you have to smoke while on a mission? Oh… God, this damn smell, throw it out now, immediately!”
The person who spoke was the red-haired woman sitting next to Jian Ning. She was at least 1.80 meters tall, and her solid honey-colored muscles matched her tall figure, showing her strong beauty.
Jian Ning sat next to her and obviously looked half a head shorter than her.
The bearded man named John muttered vaguely, “Talia, let me finish this one. I finally found some cigarettes this time. I don’t know how many missions I have to go on to buy the expensive tobacco in the base.”
The red-haired woman’s face became even colder, with disgust in her eyes: “I will say it again, throw it out now, otherwise, the next second, you will be the one thrown out.”
The pheromones belonging to an Alpha exploded rapidly in the small compartment, and the targeted suppression made the bearded man’s face turn pale.
Under the woman’s threatening gaze, he put out his cigarette in a huff and put away the remaining half of the cigarette with a look of heartache.
Talia withdrew her gaze and turned around to see the young man looking at her curiously.
She was stunned and couldn’t help looking Jian Ning up and down. Suddenly she found that this little guy whose face she couldn’t see clearly seemed to have a pair of very beautiful eyes.
Looking at that pair of clear eyes with distinct black and white, her irritable mood eased a lot.
At the same time, Talia seemed to smell a very pleasant smell.
Her nose twitched slightly. The smell was very faint, but it inexplicably attracted her deeply. Even the pungent smell of smoke from before dissipated a lot.
Suddenly remembering something, Talia asked in surprise, “Are you an Omega?”
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone in the car focused their attention on Jian Ning again, their eyes burning.
“Omega?”
‘Omega?’
‘What is that?’
Jian Ning looked calm, but his brain was rapidly processing unfamiliar word.
‘Was it what they called the aliens?’
“No.”
An inexplicable sense of crisis made Jian Ning shake his head and deny the woman’s speculation.
For the past entire year, Jian Ning had spent all his time hiding and had never had the chance to get to know the world carefully.
He could only speak as little as possible to avoid accidentally revealing the truth.
After denying it, Jian Ning yawned as if he was sleepy, closed his eyes and fell asleep.
“Oh… okay, I was just guessing.”
Talia looked at the young man with his eyes closed and had a vague guess in her mind.
Although she hadn’t smelled an Omega’s pheromones in a long time, an Omega’s scent was unique. It could arouse an Alpha’s instinctive impulses and it was impossible to make a mistake in identifying them.
Talia looked at the young man deeply and said nothing more.
What a slow-witted little fellow! He clearly knew that he should hide his Omega identity from strangers in such a dangerous place, but why couldn’t he hide his pheromones properly?
Being surrounded by humans, Jian Ning knew that he should not let his guard down.
But after closing his eyes, the sleepiness that had been lingering on him soon returned, and his consciousness gradually fell into darkness.
It was not until half an hour later that he was awakened by a loud and rapid burst of angry curses.
There seemed to be some unexpected situation outside.
“What is that?!”
“What the fuck, are those military people all good-for-nothings? How come there are alien species in the safe zone?!”
“Stop talking nonsense! Drive faster and get rid of it first!”
Jian Ning opened his eyes and looked out through the transparent glass of the car window——
A few dozen meters away, a man with a gray face was staring at them. Except for the suspicious black and red bloodstains at the corners of his mouth, the man looked almost no different from a normal person.
But as he looked down, he saw that the man had a long and thin neck, and his head looked like a hydrogen balloon floating in the air.
The strangely slender neck was like a flexible python, swaying and wriggling in the air, and the other end was connected to a human body a few meters away.
‘It’s a different species!’
Smelling the scent of a living creature, this alien species with an extremely long neck revealed a greedy expression, and its stiff, bloodshot eyes stared straight at the accelerating armored vehicle.
It opened its mouth, revealing a dense row of fine teeth.
It was hungry… Very hungry…
The next second, the head came flying over at an unimaginable speed. The already terrifyingly thin neck became like a rubber band that was being pulled by someone, becoming thinner and longer. The people in the car could almost see the black blood vessels under the pale skin.
Jian Ning’s eyelids twitched and the corners of his mouth twitched slightly.
Isn’t this the culprit that caused him to not sleep well these past few days?
A few days ago, he met this guy. If he hadn’t run fast enough, he would have almost had half of his head bitten off.
But he didn’t expect that this guy would follow him here.
Under normal circumstances, alien species only prey on humans and other animals, but Jian Ning didn’t know why his own kind seemed to have a strong appetite for him as well.
Over the past year, Jian Ning has been hiding from place to place every day, not only to avoid being preyed upon by aliens of the same kind, but also to avoid humans.
It was not until recently that he was finally able to put the extra growth back into his body that he came up with the idea of sneaking into the human base.
At least in that impregnable city, he only needed to disguise his identity in front of humans. He would no longer have to worry about being bitten and eaten by those ugly and crazy alien species.
There was too much gravel on the ground and the armored vehicle could not drive at its fastest speed.
The alien was running at an astonishing speed. Its human body was running wildly in a twisted posture, and its head which was connected to its slender neck was shaking from side to side. It stood tall like a snake in an attacking state and looked extremely excited.
Jian Ning’s throat rolled with difficulty.
That head…seemed to be getting closer and closer to them.
