Invitation 2
Looking in the direction of the scream—at the park’s entrance—I saw the mothers who had been whispering acting suspiciously.
They were holding their smartphones in one hand, jumping up and down and waving their other hand in a way that seemed too childish for adults.
It turns out, the scream wasn’t one of fear but rather a fan’s shriek.
“Kei-sama~!”,”The real Kei-sama!”,”Kyaaa, I can’t believe it. I’m so happy! I could die!”
Literally, their eyes had completely changed compared to when they were looking at us, siblings.
A black luxury car had parked at the entrance of the park before we knew it. It seemed the mothers were flocking to someone who had just gotten out.
“Ah, sorry. I’m working right now, so let’s save that for later, okay☆?”
“Okay♪”
Despite his deep and husky voice, his response was light-hearted.
As if melted ice cream, sweetly the wall of mothers easily parted.
And then, a middle-aged man appeared.
He might be in his mid-thirties. He was fairly tall, dressed in muted colors suitable for his age.
Whether he was handsome… honestly, it was hard to tell.
Because he was wearing black sunglasses and a ten-gallon hat, making it difficult to see his face.
Had he not grown a sloppy stubble on the visible part of his jaw, he might have looked a bit younger.
The man walked straight towards us, siblings, and greeted us with a cheerful, “Hello.”
“…Hi.”
With maximum caution, I returned the greeting with a glance.
As for Shika, she remained silent, gripping my clothes tightly, a clear sign of her shyness.
The suspicious gaze of the mothers was now directed at us.
To them, a suspicious man in sunglasses talking to middle and high school students—the scene was clearly concerning, yet it seemed they were more curious about us than the man.
…Is this man famous?
“Can I help you?”
“Wow, it’s been a while since someone was wary of me. Don’t you watch TV?”
“Don’t even have one at home.”
“Wow, times have changed, huh? Kids these days who base their activities on WAYTUBE are like that, huh? …Right, ‘Seeker’☆?”
“What…!?”
I instinctively stepped forward to shield Shika.
—How did he know? Why? How could he? We’ve made sure not to include any personal information in our account details; there should be no way he could trace us back in person.
“Who exactly are you?”
With a creepy smile, the man—no, the gentleman—handed me a business card.
Tennozu Kei
President & CEO of Tennozu Entertainment Co., Ltd.
President & CEO of One-Eight Live Co., Ltd.
Special Scout for Private Ryoran High School
“This is…!”
The impressive list of titles on the business card was almost too good to be true, bordering on scammy. But if legitimate, this man in front of us could very well be the fairy godmother coming to offer us a carriage made of pumpkin.
As my eyes widened in amazement, the man—no, Tennozu Kei, or should I say Kei-sama—lifted the corner of his mouth in a charming smile.
“Tennozu Kei. A former idol of Ignition, now a hot topic as a young entrepreneur. You’ve heard of One-Eight Live, haven’t you?”
“I don’t know.”
“Huh?”
“Ah! Ah! My sister is like this, sorry, really sorry! I handle all the negotiations, so please talk to me!”
Pushing my utterly tactless sister behind me, I stepped forward.
Bowing deeply has always been my special skill. Lacking wisdom, education, athletic prowess, and any hidden talents, my only strength was a shameless ability to wag my tail at any opportunity that seemed to promise an easy life. Pride? Mine was like an apple gnawed on by mice, full of holes.
“Well, anyway, let’s get to the main topic.”
“Yes, whatever it is.”
“Would you consider turning Ikebukuro Shika into a celebrity?”
“I will.”
I answered immediately.
Kei-sama’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Aren’t you going to think about it a bit more? It’s a big turning point in your life, you know?”
“Why would I need to think? You’re going to make ‘Seeker’ a major debut, right?”
“That’s the plan eventually, but…”
“CD sales, streaming, karaoke royalties, live performances, TV appearances, commercial endorsements, we’ll do anything. I’ll even lick boots, and as for pillow bussiness— I can’t let my sister do that, but if it’s me, I’m up for anything!” (tln : Pillow bussiness mean doing some stuff with private person in hotel. you guys know about it or browse it)
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on. That’s not good to hear, you know.”
He hurriedly cut off my words, glancing back to ensure no bystanders were listening. Luckily, the mothers at the entrance seemed too engrossed in their own world to overhear, their eyes sparkling.
“Unfortunately, you’re making a big misunderstanding.”
“So, pillow bussiness are only valid if it’s the person in question? If that’s the case, let’s pretend this conversation never happened.”
“No, that’s not it. Can we move away from that topic?”
“Sure.”
“First off, I’m scouting not ‘Seeker’ but Ikebukuro Shika herself.”
“Not as a VTube avatar, but… in person?”
“Correct. And there’s another thing, this isn’t an invitation to promise a major debut. It’s as written on the business card.”
