- Chapter 2 - Jiang Ying’s Attitude, Alia’s "Blood Queen"!
“Ouch, ouch—huff! So that’s all you’ve got!”
“Hey, this isn’t how it looked in the videos!”
“Alia, can you please retract your fangs first?”
Su Yu realized that she was all talk—just like many people sitting confidently behind their screens, full of theoretical knowledge but zero practical experience!
The wounds on Alia’s body were healing at a speed visible to the naked eye. That messy, chaotic beauty, combined with the deep, affectionate gaze she directed at Su Yu, smoothed over the faint pangs of sadness he’d felt from the breakup earlier that day.
What frustrated him, though, was that he was utterly on the defensive the entire time!
Was she really the same Alia Tepes, the campus belle of Magic City Beastmaster University?
The contrast was just too sharp.
In the videos, she tied her long black hair into a high ponytail, exuding the cold aloofness of an untouchable ice queen. It was almost impossible to reconcile that image with the fiery, passionate aura she now displayed.
Alia twirled her tongue in satisfaction, stood up, crossed her legs, and returned to her previously haughty demeanor. “Little one, what are you thinking about?”
Su Yu’s face darkened. When you were demanding something, it was all “Master” this and “Master” that. Now, after the fact, it’s “little one”? Really?
Who’s the tamer here, anyway?
Wait—Su Yu suddenly noticed that Alia’s height seemed to have increased significantly.
Seeing his confused expression, Alia smirked knowingly. “Don’t be surprised. When this queen is critically lacking blood, my body shape changes.”
A glimmer of understanding flashed through Su Yu’s eyes.
So she could switch between forms? At first, she was barely 1.6 meters tall, but now she was nearly 1.75 meters.
“Are you really that Alia Tepes from Magic City Beastmaster University?”
“Yes.”
“What happened to you?”
A shadow seemed to pass over Alia’s face. “I was ambushed, little one. Consider yourself lucky.”
“This queen is immortal, but if I lose too much vital energy, I’ll enter a state of deathly slumber. Unlike ordinary vampires, who only slumber for a month, as a descendant of the third progenitor of the blood race, my slumber would last seventy years. This queen cannot afford that.”
After that, Alia fell silent, unwilling to elaborate further.
Su Yu didn’t press her. Instead, he simply sat beside her and held her hand.
Feeling the warmth of his palm, Alia’s expression softened into a smile, like ice and snow melting in early spring. “Still, the one who attacked me has already been slain by this queen. It’s just a pity about my four blood-servants—Mei, Lan, Zhu, and Ju. Otherwise, I could’ve let them serve as concubines for you.”
Su Yu coughed awkwardly. “Ahem! No! Having Alia is already more than enough for me.”
Alia flipped over and pinned Su Yu beneath her again, a sly smile playing at her lips. “Master, a queen’s contract can only be formed once.”
“From now on, this queen will follow you in life and death.”
“But, Master, you must take responsibility for me as well.”
“What kind of responsibility?”
“Feed me. I’m still hungry.”
“! Wait, Alia, it’s already 3 a.m.! I need to recover too!”
“Heh, Master, my ability as the Blood Queen allows me to manipulate the blood of any being. For instance, if you’re struggling to keep up, I can help you out~”
Alia raised a delicate orchid-like finger and guided the flow of Su Yu’s blood.
—
The next day, Su Yu, with two massive dark circles under his eyes, looked like someone who had completed a marathon fifteen times over. Together with Alia, he headed to the registration office of Magic City Beastmaster University.
Originally, he wasn’t even eligible to enroll.
But after activating his beast-taming talent and contracting with Alia the day before, he now qualified to apply as a Beastmaster!
Today was registration day, and the freshman registration area was bustling with people.
“Student, let me see your talent report. I’m sorry, but we don’t accept students with beast-taming talents below C-rank.”
“Student, having an A-rank talent alone isn’t enough. You’ll also need to contract with a pet beast. The local pet association sells beast eggs—for one million each.”
“Student Wang Hongxi, here is your admission certificate. Tomorrow, there will be an entrance test at Beastmaster University. If you pass, you’ll officially be enrolled!”
Su Yu narrowed his eyes. Beastmasters really were an elite and expensive profession. A single pet egg, which relied on luck, cost a million yuan. Families of ordinary means would have to sell everything they owned just to support one Beastmaster candidate.
As Su Yu was about to register, a familiar voice called out:
“Su Yu? What are you doing here?”
Turning to look, Su Yu saw Jiang Ying standing beside a man, wearing a light gray two-piece dress that revealed her waist. She looked at Su Yu in surprise.
Jiang Ying noticed the dark circles under Su Yu’s eyes and felt a swell of satisfaction.
So his calm demeanor yesterday was all an act! He must not have slept all night!
Still, why else would Su Yu be here today if not for her?
Before Su Yu could respond, the man next to Jiang Ying, Wang Hongxi, stepped forward. “What do you think he’s doing here? Su Yu, you don’t have a beast-taming talent! This isn’t a place for you!”
“Little Ying has an A-rank beast-taming talent! You don’t deserve her. Staying with a poor loser like you would only hold her back!”
Su Yu frowned. This must have been the “Young Master Wang” Jiang Ying mentioned yesterday.
Apparently, his family was quite wealthy, and his uncle was even a dean at Magic City Beastmaster University.
Not wanting to get dragged into useless drama, Su Yu shook his head. “No, I’m here to register for admission.”
“This has nothing to do with you.”
Jiang Ying sighed. “Su Yu, stop fooling yourself, okay? You don’t have a beast-taming talent, so how can you register? I know you’re trying to prove something to me, but doing this just makes me look down on you even more! A decent ex-boyfriend should just disappear—we’re over!”
Su Yu: ?
Is your sense of self-importance a bit inflated?
Wang Hongxi stepped in front of Jiang Ying. “Su Yu, leave. You know your family’s situation. Can you afford the talent serums? Can you afford a pet egg?”
Their argument began attracting more and more onlookers.
Even the registration staff glanced over curiously.
Incidents like this happened every year, but since this was wartime, Beastmaster University students were essentially reserve soldiers. This wasn’t a place for soft-hearted individuals, so the staff didn’t bother intervening.
Wang Hongxi raised his right hand. “Get lost, Su Yu. If you keep pestering Little Ying, don’t blame me for being rude!”
He summoned his pet beast—a two-meter-long lion with flaming claws, glaring menacingly at Su Yu. The crowd immediately backed away.
“Wow, is that the no. 392-ranked Blazing Gold Lion? It’s one of the top 500 pet beasts!”
“A beast like that would cost at least ten million at auction.”
“The Wang family is seriously loaded.”
Wang Hongxi sneered. “Well? Are you leaving on your own, or shall I make you?”
“Enough nonsense.” A cold voice rang out from behind Su Yu.
The crowd turned to see the woman behind him taking slow, deliberate steps, each one carrying an icy chill. Suddenly, she unfurled pitch-black wings, and her deep purple eyes sent shivers down everyone’s spines. Yet her breathtaking beauty made it impossible to look away.
“Shut up, you mutt.”
Alia raised her hand, then swung it down lightly.
“Blood Queen!”
Wang Hongxi immediately felt his knees give way as blood gushed from his calves!
Bang!
His legs slammed into the ground as he knelt before Su Yu.
The Blazing Gold Lion tried to protect its master but was effortlessly drained of half its blood by Alia’s gesture. The blood floated midair, forming a crimson throne that smashed onto the lion’s back.
Boom!
Roar!
The lion collapsed in agony, pinned to the ground.
Alia gracefully seated herself on the blood throne, her gaze condescending and arrogant. She crushed the lion’s skull under her heel. “Your blood is so filthy, mongrel.”
She smirked slightly and pointed at Wang Hongxi. “And you. How dare you yell at this queen’s master? Are you tired of living?”
Clutching his legs in pain, Wang Hongxi howled, “Who… who are you? Don’t you know my uncle is—”
Alia took Su Yu’s hand. “Me? I’m my master’s pet beast, and more importantly, I’m his lover~”
What?!
The entire crowd froze, then erupted into an uproar!
