- Chapter 2 - Cooperation of the Body
“Cancel the contract?”
Xue Hua said, “The company has spent so much money training her. Is this contract something that can be canceled just like that? You signed the contract and now you want to break it?”
As she spoke, she looked over Mr. and Mrs. Luo’s clothing and sneered, “Can you afford the penalty fee?”
Father Luo wasn’t bothered by her condescending tone and said, “No matter how much the penalty is, we’ll sell everything we have, but we won’t let her go back there. If you don’t agree to terminate the contract peacefully, we’ll see you in court!”
Given Luo Jingcha’s usual temperament, she wouldn’t have tolerated Xue Hua acting so arrogantly in front of her. But now, since she was occupying someone else’s body, she thought it would be better to stay low-profile for the time being.
But continuing like this wouldn’t solve anything. Seeing the two arguing heatedly, she spoke up, “I’ll sign the contract.”
Luo Jingcha’s voice wasn’t loud, but everyone heard her. Xue Hua looked triumphant, while Father Luo angrily said, “What nonsense are you talking about!”
Luo Jingcha pulled her father aside and weakly said, “Dad, don’t get upset. I chose this path myself, and I have no reason to make you pay for me. You don’t earn money easily either. Don’t worry, this kind of thing won’t happen again.”
Father Luo wanted to say something more, but Luo Jingcha winked at him and said quietly but seriously, “Dad, can we talk about this properly after I get rid of her first?”
Father Luo was surprised that Luo Jingcha could speak so calmly in this situation, completely different from her usual quiet, reserved self. It was as if she had grown up overnight. He could only turn his head away and walk to the side. “Do as you wish.”
Luo Jingcha had spoken softly with her father blocking the view, so Xue Hua hadn’t heard their private conversation. Seeing Father Luo relent, she picked up the contract from the trash can and handed it to her, saying with satisfaction, “At least you know what’s good for you. Sign it.”
Luo Jingcha took the contract, but when she tried to take the pen, her hand trembled badly, dropping it several times. The name she wrote on the contract was disjointed and illegible. Luo Jingcha put down the pen and looked at her own hand in disbelief.
While everyone was confused, she looked at the nearby nurse in shock and asked, “What’s wrong with me? I don’t have childhood Parkinson’s, do I?”
The nurse couldn’t help but chuckle at this and explained, “How could someone your age have Parkinson’s? You were unconscious for so long and just woke up without eating anything. Your body is too weak. Rest well for a few days and you’ll be fine.”
“I see.”
Luo Jingcha said sheepishly to Xue Hua, “Can I come back to the company to sign in a few days?”
Xue Hua looked at the handwriting on the contract, thinking that given Luo Jingcha’s usual personality, she wouldn’t be capable of playing tricks on her. She could only snort and say, “You’d better hurry. Opportunities don’t wait. Not everyone gets the chance to be a dance double for Shen Anyan. Once this chance is gone, it’s gone forever.”
Luo Jingcha pretended to be grateful and said, “Thank you, Sister Hua. I’ll return to the company as soon as possible.”
Satisfied that Luo Jingcha was still under her control, Xue Hua left contentedly.
Once Xue Hua was far away, Father Luo said somewhat angrily, “What do you want to talk about?”
Father Luo’s tone wasn’t pleasant, and Mother Luo tapped him and frowned. “Our daughter is finally talking to us, why are you being so fierce!”
She then sat down by the bedside and said gently, “Cha Cha, do you have something on your mind? Tell Mom.”
Luo Jingcha secretly clicked her tongue, realizing that this Xiao Luo was quite the silent type. She had to say quietly, “Mom, Dad, are you worried that being a trainee will affect my studies? What kind of grades would I need to get for you to consider that my studies aren’t being affected?”
Mr. and Mrs. Luo exchanged glances. Father Luo thought for a moment and said, “You need to rank at least in the top 100 in the school by the final exams!”
Top 100? Just that?
Luo Jingcha raised her eyebrows.
Mother Luo thought she felt her husband’s requirements were too high, so she glared at him and said, “Cha Cha is attending a provincial key high school, full of top students from various middle schools. Asking her to rank in the top 100 in such a short time—aren’t you making it too difficult for her?”
Father Luo glanced away. “I just want her to know it’s too hard and give up!”
As Mother Luo was about to say something more, Luo Jingcha held her hand and said, “Then it’s settled. If I can rank in the top 100 in the finals, you can’t force me to cancel the contract anymore.”
Father Luo hadn’t expected Luo Jingcha to agree so readily, but he didn’t believe she could achieve this in such a short time. He said, “We’ll see when you get into the top 100.”
“Then it’s a deal.”
With the agreement reached, Luo Jingcha started to dismiss them. She coughed a couple of times, weakly lying back in bed and said, “Dad, Mom, I’m a bit tired and want to rest for a while.”
Seeing this, the two quickly got up and said, “Alright, alright, we forgot you’re still injured. Get some sleep.”
Only after Mr. and Mrs. Luo left did Luo Jingcha breathe a long sigh of relief. She closed her eyes and began to organize what had happened these past two days.
She hadn’t expected that time-space travel would happen to her, but fortunately, she wasn’t dead. Luo Sifen had tried everything to take her life, but never imagined she would survive in another world in this form.
After such an accident, everyone would think she was dead. Luo Jingcha sneered with a curl of her lips. Since she could come to this world, there must be a way to go back. She wondered what those people’s expressions would be when they found out she wasn’t dead.
Thinking of this, she said to Xiao Luo, “I’ve solved your problem, now let’s talk about our cooperation.”
“Wh-what cooperation?”
“Of course, cooperation regarding the body,” said Luo Jingcha.
“Ah? What are you talking about……” Xiao Luo’s voice was a bit embarrassed.
Luo Jingcha also realized her mistake in phrasing and coughed twice before saying, “I mean, before we figure out why I appeared in your body and how to get out, we need to reach a consensus on my use of your body and what requirements you have of me.”
“Oh, I see……” Xiao Luo indicated that she finally understood.
Luo Jingcha heaved a long sigh. After an intense discussion, the two finally reached a conclusion about their body cooperation.
From now on, Luo Jingcha could act completely according to her own will and handle problems in her own way, but she must also strive for the opportunity for Xiao Luo to participate in the girl group program “I Am a Trainee.”
After the discussion, Luo Jingcha found that her counterpart in this world was no pushover. She appeared weak and easy to bully, but when it came to the entertainment industry, she was completely unyielding and wouldn’t back down no matter what Luo Jingcha said.
Imagining herself dancing in a little skirt again, ah, it would really be a sight…
Just then, the door of the hospital room was suddenly pushed open violently, startling Luo Jingcha into opening her eyes immediately.
She saw a girl about 1.75 meters tall who, upon seeing Luo Jingcha, raised her eyebrows as if greatly surprised. Luo Jingcha thought she might be a debt collector, but the next moment, the girl hugged her and burst into tears. “Cha Cha, I’m so glad you’re not dead, waaaah!”
Luo Jingcha: “……”
“Who is this……”
This girl, despite having a face that seemed to say “stay away” and a height that would make men feel insecure, had the heart of a princess. Looking at her pouting mouth, Luo Jingcha really wanted to straighten it.
After hearing Luo Jingcha’s description, Xiao Luo said, “She’s my good friend Zhang Leyan. She’s quite good except for her brain not working that well.”
Luo Jingcha: “……”
Fine then, one fool and one mute—no wonder they could be good friends.
