Girl, There's Something Wrong With You - Chapter 25
Let’s not dwell on dreams for now. Although he entered the dream with Miss Ah Zhi, Cheng Jinyang, who had already reached the fifth grade, could easily slaughter countless strange creatures without the need for demonic transformation.
The next morning.
Although it’s uncertain if it’s actually morning, it should be according to the biological clock.
Cheng Jinyang woke up from his bed and saw Miss Ah Zhi lying next to him, sleeping on her back, her hands resting on her abdomen. Her even breaths rose and fell in a regular rhythm.
What a normal sleeping posture!
Cheng Jinyang couldn’t help but reflect.
To be honest, he considered himself well-versed in the myriad of sleeping postures from his experiences.
Cui Xiaoniang preferred sleeping on her side, with one hand pressed against his chest and one leg draped over his thigh, burying her head in his neck, occasionally rubbing against him and making affectionate purring sounds.
Chu Qingqing was also a side sleeper who liked to hug something tightly. Most of the time she would hug him, and occasionally would turn the wrong way and hug Teacher Li instead.
Compared to Cui Xiaoniang, who would entangle her limbs, Miss Qingqing would only tightly hug with her arms and not drape her legs over him—Cheng Jinyang guessed she must have a small pillow on her bed.
Miss Wang didn’t have a fixed sleeping posture. Although when she slept next to him, he often woke up with his arm under her neck, Cheng Jinyang could never quite tell if she had snuggled into his embrace or if he had unconsciously pulled her closer.
Teacher Li had a peculiar sleeping habit, often raising her arms and leaving them up while she slept. Sometimes she would lie on her back with her arms bent behind her head as a pillow, and other times she would sleep face down with her arms outstretched towards the pillow, adopting a strange “corpse-like” posture.
Sometimes when Cheng Jinyang woke up early and went to the bathroom, he would see Li Qingwan in her sleep, her arms occasionally coming down to scratch her abdomen. Miss Qingqing, having nothing to hug, would then turn and embrace her. Li Qingwan would then struggle uncomfortably, trying to free her arms from Miss Qingqing’s hug. By the time Cheng Jinyang returned, neither had woken up, and they were still occasionally squirming and competing with each other.
Sister Xiao Pei, when sleeping, would curl up and show a mysterious, pitiful expression, like frowning, pursing her lips, and slightly trembling, which was quite unlike her usual maternal demeanor.
Lu Qingyun, on the other hand, was a sleep-talker, often mumbling strange and incomprehensible short phrases and words, which was extremely endearing.
Xiao Wangshu and Ah Zhi, who usually slept in separate beds, had not been observed by Cheng Jinyang. Now, seeing Ah Zhi’s perfectly normal sleeping posture, he couldn’t find any peculiar traits despite studying it for a while.
Good, that’s my Ah Zhi.
Probably due to her light sleep, Ah Zhi opened her eyes as soon as Cheng Jinyang moved slightly.
“What’s up, can’t sleep?” She yawned.
This question was rather meaningless. It was well-known that once Cheng Jinyang fell asleep, he would build new rooms in the dream, and the only way to leave was to wake up naturally the next day, with almost no cases of waking up in between.
However, Cheng Jinyang knew she was just speaking out of habit and replied:
“Hmm, thinking of you.”
“I’m right here beside you, why would you be thinking of me?” Ah Zhi couldn’t help but smile.
“Maybe because you live in my heart, so I’m always thinking of you?” Cheng Jinyang said.
“You silly.” Ah Zhi widened her eyes, gazed at him for a moment, and then quietly leaned her head closer.
Another round of warm, breathless contact.
Outside the base, the Princess Luling, who had been killing demons all night, finally returned with clarity of mind.
Then she saw her disappointing sister still leaning against the outer wall, apparently having truly stayed outside all night.
Ahhh, I’m going crazy!
Enraged, Luling rushed to the base entrance and began banging on the door.
“Cheng Jinyang! Get out here! I know you’re in there!”
Inside the room, the two people in a close embrace were startled and immediately jumped out of bed.
“Demons?” Ah Zhi instantly assumed a defensive stance.
“Wait!” Cheng Jinyang quickly called out to stop her.
It wasn’t because he recognized the voice as Luling’s, but because if a strange demon intended to attack, it wouldn’t call out “Cheng Jinyang” by name. Demons who knew his name were likely to be familiar with him, meaning the visitor wasn’t a demon.
While Cheng Jinyang stopped Ah Zhi, outside, Princess Nankang urgently called out to her sister, trying to calm her and said, “Don’t be alarmed, Jinyang! It’s me, Sister Xinnan!”
“Oh, it’s Sister Xinnan.” Cheng Jinyang breathed a sigh of relief, while Ah Zhi’s expression visibly darkened.
Cheng Jinyang quickly tidied his clothes and got up to open the door.
The two princesses entered the base (with the elder sister also closing the door behind them). Luling looked around the interior with a furious gaze and couldn’t help but exclaim:
“Jinyang, while we’re out there risking our lives fighting the demons, you’re here indulging in pleasure?”
“Ahem, I’m recovering from injuries! Recovering!” Cheng Jinyang quickly explained to the princess.
When it came to recovering, Luling, who was originally infuriated, finally realized that Cheng Jinyang must have been injured while rescuing her and needed to rest. However, with the words already out, she couldn’t retract them and could only sulk in silence.
“Are you alright, Jinyang?” Nankang quickly came over to check on him, inspecting him from all sides.
“If I hadn’t found him in the ground network yesterday, something would have definitely gone wrong,” Ah Zhi said sadly, implying “And now you still have the nerve to ask about this?”
“Thank you, Ah Zhi.” The princess sincerely said, “I wasn’t there when it happened yesterday, and I couldn’t follow up. It’s thanks to you that Jinyang was saved.”
This immediately upset Ah Zhi, as Sister Xinnan’s formal thanks made it seem as if Cheng Jinyang were her husband and Ah Zhi was merely an outsider who happened to save him…
So she smiled and said:
“Why the thanks? Jinyang is my fiancé, so of course, I couldn’t just watch him die.”
Luling raised an eyebrow, catching the implication that Ah Zhi was questioning why Sister Xinnan needed to save Jinyang. Just as she was about to retort, she heard the princess respond with a smile:
“Well, Jinyang is also my brother. I didn’t fulfill my responsibility to protect him, so it really is thanks to you.”
Luling fell silent, understanding that while the princess’s words seemed like an admission of fault, they cleverly asserted her claim with the “failure” excuse, and the latter part, though framed as gratitude, was actually a subtle declaration of exclusion.
Looking at Ah Zhi, her smile had turned icy, clearly showing her frustration.
As the atmosphere grew tense, Cheng Jinyang stepped in at just the right moment:
“Alright, let’s stop blaming and self-reproaching. After all, I’m alive and well, aren’t I? Let’s not let this strain our feelings.”
“I think if you continue to be so despicable, you might not live much longer,” Luling couldn’t hold back and retorted.
