Girl, There's Something Wrong With You - Chapter 3
At the restaurant.
“Let’s just have something simple for dinner?”
“Sure.”
“How about beef noodles?”
“Sounds good.”
“Why is the whole menu full of mushrooms?” Cheng Jinyang asked, surprised.
“What else did you expect? Do you think there’s anything decent in this underground place?” Miss Wang scoffed.
“Alright then, I’ll have the king oyster mushroom sauce noodles.” Cheng Jinyang started ordering, knowing that Miss Wang was hardly picky. “For you, maybe the mushroom three-flavor noodles?”
“Okay,” Wang Wanrou replied calmly.
Soon, two steaming bowls of noodle soup were served. They looked decent, but the taste was overwhelmingly greasy and salty, seemingly designed to mask the blandness of the mushrooms in the soup.
Cheng Jinyang barely managed to eat half a bowl before giving up, feeling too overwhelmed by the grease. He then watched as Miss Wang meticulously picked out the noodles and mushrooms, rinsed them in the tea water, added a bit of soy sauce, and ate them slowly, bite by bite.
He couldn’t help but feel awed by her methodical approach.
After finishing their meal, the two left the restaurant. Strolling down a short stretch of the shopping street, Wang Wanrou suddenly stopped in front of an ice cream shop’s signboard.
“Want something?” Cheng Jinyang asked with a smile, expecting her usual response of “whatever.” “How about their signature flavor… uh, durian and stinky tofu?”
“Vanilla, milk, strawberry, and watermelon—one-quarter scoop of each,” Wang Wanrou said coolly. “With dried figs and crushed nuts on top.”
Cheng Jinyang: ?
Wait, does the lady actually like sweets?
The staff quickly prepared the ice cream cone, and as Cheng Jinyang stepped up to pay, he realized the price was over 100 yuan—four times the usual price for something similar in Jiankang City.
Even though he was financially free by now, he still hesitated at spending a hundred yuan on a basic ice cream cone.
But this was the first time Miss Wang had taken the initiative to order something! She clearly wanted it badly—how could he, as a man, refuse her?
Resolutely, he paid the bill and handed the ice cream to Wang Wanrou, who accepted it with composure. She started eating slowly with a spoon, her eyes narrowing slightly.
Cheng Jinyang observed her closely, hoping to catch a hint of satisfaction in her expression.
However, he failed.
So… does she actually like ice cream? Or is there some deeper meaning to her behavior? While he was racking his brain, Wang Wanrou suddenly said, “The noodles earlier were awful.”
“So… this is to cleanse your palate?” Cheng Jinyang asked, enlightened.
“Exactly.” Wang Wanrou held the ice cream out to him.
Wait a second—doesn’t this count as an indirect kiss? Cheng Jinyang hesitated.
Hold on, we’ve already kissed directly! Why am I even worried about this indirect nonsense?
So, he opened his mouth wide and took a big bite of the watermelon scoop.
Wang Wanrou: …
She looked at the cone in her hand, now missing one scoop, and frowned slightly, an unusual hint of grievance showing on her face.
Completely oblivious, Cheng Jinyang savored the watermelon flavor, thinking, The taste of industrial-grade ingredients is indeed reliable, but man, it’s pricey.
“Is it good?” Wang Wanrou asked.
“Delicious,” Cheng Jinyang praised. “Miss Wang’s choice of flavors is impeccable.”
“Then go buy me another one,” Wang Wanrou said coldly. “This time, all watermelon.”
Cheng Jinyang: ?
Wait, are you mad at me? Weren’t you the one who offered me a bite?
After buying another ice cream cone, the two resumed their stroll. Miss Wang alternated between eating her own ice cream and taking spoonfuls from Cheng Jinyang’s.
At that moment, Cheng Jinyang finally understood:
So, Miss Wang is a classic pure-hearted fighter! She wants all the ice cream flavors to be hers. By eating her entire watermelon scoop earlier, I essentially “NTR’d” her favorite flavor—no wonder she was so upset.
Got it, got it.
After finishing their ice cream, Miss Wang seemed to be in a better mood. Sensing the opportunity, Cheng Jinyang suggested heading to the lower residential district to find a hotel room where they could drop off their belongings.
Even in an underground fortress, commercial hotels operated much the same as they did outside, offering two main options: twin rooms with two single beds, and king rooms featuring a bed large enough to fit three people.
Considering the small size of single beds, which would inevitably force two people to squeeze together no matter how they divided up, Cheng Jinyang thoughtfully chose the more expensive king room—for the comfort of the two ladies, of course.
Since the princess hadn’t replied to their messages yet, the two spent some time wandering around the plaza in front of the hotel. This was already the 33rd level of the underground fortress, classified as a high-end residential area. Everything here—from the greenery and lighting to the architectural details—was far superior to the commercial district above.
Just as they arrived at the plaza, they spotted an elderly woman with a face full of wrinkles handing out flyers and bottles of “blessed water” to passersby.
“Dear fellow citizens, let me introduce you to the origin of the world, the savior of humanity—the Eternal Mother…”
Cheng Jinyang was startled. Back when Songjiang fell, he had seen a similar group preaching in Ye Ru’s memories.
Standing nearby with Miss Wang, he watched for a moment and quickly noticed that the old woman was targeting only female passersby, completely ignoring the men.
However, despite the proximity to the border, this was still Huai Tower Base, firmly under Jin’s control. Most of the female pedestrians showed no interest in the White Lotus sect. Some took the flyers and bottles only to toss them straight into nearby trash bins, while others had already started hiding behind bushes to call the authorities.
Before long, a security patrol team arrived and promptly escorted the elderly woman away.
As Cheng Jinyang watched the group leave, he turned back to see Miss Wang picking up one of the discarded bottles of “blessed water.” She unscrewed the cap and examined the liquid inside closely.
“Hey!” Cheng Jinyang jumped in alarm and quickly snatched the bottle from her hand. “Don’t be silly! Drinking this stuff could be poisonous!”
“It’s probably just regular water,” Miss Wang replied calmly.
“Regular water?” Cheng Jinyang frowned in confusion, staring at the bottle for a moment before tossing it back into the trash bin.
“Jinyang.” Miss Wang spoke again.
“What is it?”
“I’m… interested in that White Lotus sect woman,” she said, looking in the direction where the group had been taken away.
“But she’s been taken in by the security patrol.” Cheng Jinyang thought to himself, Why didn’t you say so earlier? She’s already been arrested—what do you want me to do now? Wait, don’t tell me…
“Wanrou, Miss Wang!” Cheng Jinyang glanced around to make sure no one was listening, then lowered his voice and asked, “You’re not thinking of breaking her out of jail, are you?”
Miss Wang’s eyes widened slightly, as if trying to confirm whether his brain had malfunctioned. After a long pause, she said, “No.”
“Then what do you plan to do?” Cheng Jinyang thought for a moment before his face lit up with alarm. “Don’t tell me you want to go to the police station and use your abilities to brainwash the entire security team!”
Miss Wang was silent for a moment before she finally said, “Jinyang.”
“Yes?”
“Security detention allows for visitation.”
Her tone was gentle, like a kindergarten teacher patiently explaining something to a small child.
