Take care of Sophia

“…..Well then, Claude sama. Violet sama. I’ll excuse myself for a moment”

After picking up my bag and hair clip from the floor, I shook off my melancholy before bowing my head.

I was ordered by Violet sama to check if my bed was ready and I thought it wouldn’t have been worth being abducted if I didn’t fulfill the purpose for which I came here in the first place.

Claude sama showed a look of great concern for me who was like that.

“Sophia. Please. Take care and do not overwork yourself”

“Yes! Thank you for your concern. Claude sama should take care too”

When I said that, Claude sama said with the look of a skilled interrogator, “The one who should take care is you” while raising his eyebrows.

“I’d like to hear your explanation for what Violet said earlier about you getting yourself kidnapped after we solved this case”

“Yes……”

I kept all my money in my bag so that if someone robbed me, I was going to pay them to let me go. Yup. I’m never going to be able to say that out loud.

I hope he doesn’t remember this by the time this case is ending….. While thinking so, I bowed once again and headed off in search of Carter san, somewhat heavy on my feet.

After watching Sophia’s back as she left the room, Claude turned his eyes to Violet.

Her bluish purple eyes met Claude’s gaze.

A battle of gazes ensued but it was Claude who opened his mouth first.

“—–I want to know the truth regarding the downfall of Viscount Lannette eight years ago”

Violet frowned slightly but Claude continued without caring.

I know of these things happening a hundred or so times. However….. I don’t think you’ve ever dealt directly with anyone other than the person in question”

Having said all that, Claude said bitterly, “I was a bit wrong about you”.

“For that, I apologize from the bottom of my heart. Even so, I want you to tell me what on earth has happened then”

He looked straight at Violet.

She looked at Claude’s face for a while without any emotion, only a smile hanging at the corners of her lips.

“How exhilarating to see you bowing your head to me”

As she said this, she slowly narrowed her eyes. “But no”

“I only want what’s in my best interests. I have no interest in the feud between you and your friend whatsoever and I don’t think a sentimental look into an eight year old incident is going to be any help in solving this case”

It’ll be over once the culprit’s caught anyway. You don’t need to go out of your way to dig it up.

Claude calmly observed Violet who said so.

“….From the way you talk, at least it doesn’t seem like it’s only a matter of your dress hem getting stepped on. Also, I’m very curious as to why you’re here when you only seek what’s in your best interests”

Violet frowned slightly at Claude’s words.

As he looked at that appearance, he spoke to himself, “For now, let’s put that issue aside” while lightly adjusting his disheveled clothes, the result of having run as fast as he could.

“I’m going back too. I must urgently report to His Majesty”

“—-…..You probably want to reexamine the incident from eight years ago”

Violet smiled bewitchingly in a sense of sarcasm.

“The knight commander quite has it easy, doesn’t he? All the accomplishments will get credited to me at the flower festival anyway”

Violet’s words brought a smile to Claude’s lips.

“—-I’m looking into it again so that I don’t have to leave everything to you alone. I don’t have it easy”

With that, he turned away, heading to the door.

As he reached for the doorknob, he stopped his footsteps for a moment. Then he called out her name without turning around. “Violet”

“I’m leaving Sophia to you” (*Just another translation of ‘take care of Sophia’)

Claude left without waiting for Violet’s reply.

Left alone in the room, Violet frowned uncomfortably and let out a sigh.

You’re only in the friend category at this point of time but you sure are acting like a husband.

“Though I wouldn’t want to do anything that man asked me to do”

At this rate, wouldn’t I end up doing what he asked for?

Violet thought again that she hated that man.
