I Became The Villain's Trainer - Chapter 106
Chapter 106
While Jeremiah, Ysildus, and Terrun played with the children, Alexa took a moment to sit down and rest.
‘Ugh, I’m exhausted.’
Just then, Selina offered her a refreshing drink. Seeing the condensation on the transparent glass and the deep red liquid sloshing inside, Alexa suddenly felt parched. She picked up the teacup.
Alexa took small sips of the sweet beverage. After dancing nonstop and chatting with kids her age, she was bound to be thirsty. The drink was not only sweet but also rich with the scent of cherries, so much so that it made her feel slightly dizzy. It tasted as if she had bitten into a cherry, bursting its juice in her mouth.
“It’s delicious.”
Alexa licked the liquid from her lips, swallowing every drop. Selina gave a gentle smile.
“I’m glad it suits your taste, my Lady.”
“Thanks, Selina.”
Lately, Selina seemed like a completely different person. Unlike before, when she couldn’t hide her hostility toward Alexa, she had become… quiet. It was as if she were merely fulfilling her duties, like she had lost all traces of being a main character and had instead become nothing more than a passing extra.
Alexa often reflected on Selina’s influence in this novel. In contrast, Ysildus, Terrun, and Jeremiah hadn’t changed much from their original character settings. After all, they were meant to be the key players in this world.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Hm? Oh, it’s nothing. Selina, is everything okay with you these days?”
“There’s nothing wrong, my Lady. What about you?”
“Not even a little.”
“Then I’ll take my leave. I’ll see you later at dinner. I still have plenty to do.”
“Thanks for the drink, Selina.”
Alexa placed the empty glass onto Selina’s tray. The cold, sweet drink had awakened her senses.
“Alexa, did you get some rest?”
“Yeah, I had something to drink too.”
“That’s good.”
Ysildus reached out and brushed his fingers along Alexa’s cheek.
“There was a little spill.”
“Oh, really?”
“I already wiped it off. You’ve been taking your supplements, right? You’re still too frail…”
“I am NOT frail! I’m perfectly average! Right, Jeremiah?”
Alexa turned to Jeremiah with pleading eyes.
“Ahem… Ahem! I think Alexa is on the weaker side,” Jeremiah muttered, looking uncertain.
The truth was, Jeremiah had no sisters, and the only women around him were adults, so he had no real point of comparison. In the end, he chose to side with Terrun and Ysildus.
Alexa clicked her tongue. Was there something in the air here that made everyone weird? Even Aunt Jane had started acting strangely, just like Jeremiah.
While Alexa was lost in thought, Ysildus suddenly placed a small cookie in her mouth.
“I found this over there, Alexa. You should eat something when you’re tired.”
“Oh! I have something too!”
Not to be outdone, Terrun handed over another finger food. Even Jeremiah seemed desperate to feed Alexa, as if it were a matter of life and death.
Alexa sighed as she chewed and swallowed one bite after another.
“Good thing I wore pants today.”
“Why?”
Ysildus asked with a soft smile.
“If I had worn a dress, my stomach would be sticking out.”
Ysildus frowned.
“And? What’s wrong with that?”
“Well… it wouldn’t look good in a dress.” Alexa tilted her head.
“Why wouldn’t it?”
Ysildus murmured, genuinely perplexed.
“Not eating because of that is just weird.”
Terrun nodded in agreement. Alexa stared at her slightly rounded stomach, then at Terrun and Ysildus’ lean, toned figures.
“This is about my pride.”
She declared firmly, pulling her jacket down.
“No matter what you eat, wear, or do, you’ll always be beautiful, Alexa.”
Ysildus spoke as if there were no greater truth in the world. His starlit eyes locked onto hers, his otherworldly beauty shining brilliantly.
Alexa swallowed hard.
“You’re not… thinking of going on a diet, are you?” Jeremiah asked, looking horrified.
“Diet? That’s ridiculous–”
Before Alexa could even finish, Terrun looked like he had just heard the sky was falling.
Wait. Hold on. I haven’t even said anything yet…
Before Alexa could stop him, Ysildus knelt in front of her. Well, technically, it was hard to tell exactly how he was sitting since his dress hid everything. His voluminous purple gown billowed around Alexa’s feet. Tilting his head slightly, he whispered in a sweet voice.
“Alexa.”
“Y-Yeah?”
‘These drama queens… How did the conversation even end up here?’
Alexa blinked blankly. The lingering taste of cherries in her mouth made her feel lightheaded.
Ysildus gently kissed the back of her hand.
“To me, you are the most beautiful in the world.”
“Huh?”
Could I ask why you were suddenly saying this?
“It doesn’t matter if you gain weight or stay the same. That’s just the packaging. The reason I like you…”
Ysildus paused, emphasizing his words. Alexa wasn’t sure if she fully grasped what he meant. Her wide eyes blinked.
“The reason I like you isn’t because of your appearance, Alexa. I like your heart. I like your gentle, kind voice. I like the warmth of your embrace when you hold me. I like the strength you show when you comfort me in my fear…”
Terrun and Jeremiah, who had been silently listening, were utterly dumbfounded.
Who’s comforting who when they’re scared?
They wanted to scream but knew they might be torn apart by Ysildus’ sharp fangs if they did. Besides, he wasn’t exactly wrong, either… They both cleared their throats awkwardly.
“I like your diligence and attentiveness. And Alexa, you’re talented in both magic and medicine. You’re brilliant. How could I not like someone as amazing as you?”
“Y-Ysildus…”
Alexa hadn’t expected to hear all this. She gulped, her cheeks burning. She wanted to leap up and flee. But, but… She fidgeted with the fingers Ysildus was holding.
“So don’t worry about pointless things. I just want you to do whatever makes you happy.”
“Ysildus…”
Why did it feel like Ysildus was confessing to her? There was no reason for him to have such feelings.
Alexa had simply saved him and protected him. They were good friends. And they shared a bed – nothing more.
He was the heir of this castle, the protagonist of this world. And she…?
Alexa bit her lip.
‘Is that really all there is to it?’
Her eyelashes fluttered. The purple dress suited Ysildus exceptionally well. The chandelier’s light reflected off the carefully chosen accessories, making him shine even more.
How strange. Right now, Ysildus looked more stunning than ever. Alexa felt the rigid world inside her crack.
What mattered wasn’t appearance. It was the person inside. Their heart. Was this what the author wanted to convey through Thersion?
The darkness and pain Alexa had been holding onto seemed to fade away. She had never trusted people easily. The only ones she had opened up to were Ysildus, who had once been a helpless little wolf, and Terrun, who was too naive to lie. She had always needed somewhere to place her affections, yet she couldn’t trust humans. The wounds of her past life still lingered deep within her.
But after coming to Thersion, those memories stopped haunting her. Wrapped in the castle’s warmth, she was healing.
Alexa gripped Ysildus’ hand tightly. His silvery hair and deep oceanic eyes blended into a winter-like beauty. He was like a snowflower blooming in Thersion – standing out even among the most beautiful of wolves.
She felt her body heat up. Alexa rose from her seat.
“Ysildus, I–”
Just as she parted her lips to speak, her vision spun. In her blurred sight, Ysildus, Terrun, and Jeremiah flickered one by one.
“Ah–”
“Alexa!!”
Something felt wrong. Her heart pounded violently, and her consciousness faded.
Thud, thud.
The sound of her own heartbeat echoed in her ears, pulling her deeper into the void.
“Ysildus… I…”
She wanted to tell him.
That, to her, he looked more beautiful than anyone else.
But before she could, her body betrayed her.
She exhaled a shaky breath and slowly closed her eyes.
