- Chapter 7 - A person who is concerned about someone
“How did you know it was me? ”
She asked me with a twinkle in her eye.
Whether she meant to or not, she moved closer to me as if she was interested in my answer.
Her sweet scent tickled my nostrils, and the wind blew her hair.
I was thinking about how long her eyelashes are, how beautiful her skin is… and most of all, how much she resembles Rin’ne-san.
“Oh, don’t tell me. Maybe that was it? That you somehow thought it was me because of that exchange in class. ”
“No, I recognized you.”
“Are you sure about that, fufu? Then I’ll think so for now.”
It was like I was telling her I could recognize both of them, but she didn’t believe me. I chuckled.
(Maybe that’s because no one can identify them perfectly. So they don’t believe me when I tell them I can tell with a straight face… or, in this case, they doubt me.)
In the end, the question of whether I could identify them was passed over, and nothing more was done.
Although some time was left before the lunch break was over, I returned with Yomi-san from the rooftop to the class, just in case we were late.
“….Hmm.”
“What’s going on? ”
On the way down the stairs, Yomi-san crossed her arms and groaned.
She glanced at me, stopped moving, and continued to stare at me for a long time before I couldn’t stand it any longer and looked away.
“Oh, sorry? It’s just there is something weird… we really haven’t met anywhere, have we? ”
She asked me again like before, and I scratched my cheek and told her about it.
“Well… because Rin’ne-san and Yomi-san asked me the same thing. I pulled out my old albums and looked them up but couldn’t figure it out.”
“Ara, were you hoping for something? ”
“…I’m frustrated that I can’t say that’s untrue.”
“Good to know you’re so honest.”
I knew it, but it’s a relief they didn’t say I was weird or anything.
I let out a relieved breath, and Yomi-san tilted his head as if to ask me what was wrong, so I told her exactly what I had just thought.
Yomi-san rolled her eyes for a moment and then shook her head.
“It all started with me and Aneki, who asked if we had ever met, didn’t it? If we asked you simultaneously, it can’t be helped if Nagase-kun is curious.”
“I’m glad you said that. I was really curious about it.”
I know I said many things, but it bothered me.
I even asked my mom if she had any albums, and I was hoping there might be a record of my faint encounter with a beautiful girl hidden in there.
I didn’t think it would make a difference, but we were classmates, and I thought it might be something to talk about.
“Thank you again, Nagase-kun. I’ve never had someone of the opposite sex worry about me like this before.”
“Ah~… well, it was just a coincidence that we talked.”
“You’re really easy to talk to, Nagase-kun.”
“N―”
Yomi-san smiled at me and put her finger on my mouth, which made my heart flutter.
It’s a little frustrating that the weakness of inexperienced men who have never been that active with women comes out in full force at times like this.
Yomi-san grinned at my blushing face and tapped me on the shoulder with her index finger.
“You’re a little nervous, aren’t you? ”
” ……. ”
I was about to say, ‘of course I was nervous,’ but then the chime rang to tell us the end of lunch break.
Yomi-san and I looked at each other for a while, then both of us muttered, “Ah, that’s not good,” and ran to the classroom.
“Stop running in the hallway! ”
“I’m sorry! ”
“Sorry ! ”
We didn’t stop our footsteps even though we were warned by the teacher, who happened to be there and told us not to run in the corridor.

“I’m going to the bathroom.”
“Yes~. Be careful on your way.”
It was after school, and Yomi saw Rin’ne off to the bathroom.
With many students still in the classroom, Yomi decides to kill some time playing with her phone until Rin’ne returns.
Amidst all this, she giggled when she thought of a certain male student.
“…..fufu.”
The smile brings out the best of her beauty.
If people had to choose between cute and beautiful, they would say that beautiful would be the more appropriate word to describe her.
However, just by smiling like this, the element of cuteness is added to her beautiful face, and the remaining boys are blushing.
Now, who does she have in her mind? ―It’s Akito.
(Of course, I have known him since we were classmates, but it was the first time we talked like that. I don’t know what this feeling was, but it somehow made me feel a strange nostalgia).
That’s exactly what she felt when she asked if they had met somewhere before.
It was certainly not their first meeting, but there was definitely something more to it than that. But Yomi did not know the answer to this question.
( Well, it’s okay even if I don’t know that. It’s fun to talk to him, and I can tell he’s a kind guy. )
She was okay with it because she got to know Akito’s personality.
Not all boys are like that, but Yomi did not like to see the desire in the eyes of all the boys who confessed their feelings to her…
But Akito was genuinely concerned about Yomi.
He went out of his way to come just when he saw her back. Although she was annoyed at the teacher’s words, what came to her mind at that moment was Akito’s words, [I don’t think having negative feelings toward people is wrong]… Even though it was something she did not need to worry about, Akito’s words strangely calmed Yomi’s mind.
“You’re… a little late, aren’t you?”
As she told Akito, Yomi sometimes has hidden occasional outbursts against Rin’ne.
However, she is usually very protective of her older sister, and there is nothing wrong with what she tells Akito about them being close sisters.
That is why she worries about her when she comes back late.
“…Alright ”
Yomi gets up from her chair and goes to the bathroom.
Surprisingly, Rin’ne is soon spotted, and she hides behind a spot, staring at something.
As Yomi approaches, tilting her head, Rin’ne notices her and smiles.
“What are you doing? ”
” …I feel bad, but I’m eavesdropping a little? ”
” ? ? ”
When I peeked beyond Rin’ne’s gaze, I saw Akito and an older student whom I didn’t recognize.
The absence of other students around them made it easier to hear them talking.
“It doesn’t really matter which one, does it? We don’t know each other very well, and we may get to know each other after we start dating, right? ”
It was the older student who said this.
Yomi could not grasp the whole story from this, but what Akito said afterward made it possible for Yomi to understand everything.
“I know that there is a form of love like that. They are certainly similar ―but both Rin’ne-san and Yomi-san are different. What do you mean by confessing that you think either one of them is good? In the first place, why would she be happy to be confessed by someone who thinks like that?”
“…You’re a noisy one, aren’t you? It was a mistake to ask you who I just met.”
Yomi and Rin’ne knew immediately that this subject was very troublesome for them.
But why Akito was telling them this was a mystery, and Rin’ne told them.
“Akito was about to leave, but he asked him to help call either me or Yomi. When Akito asked him why, he said that he wanted to go out with either of us… after that, the story goes here.”
“…ha? What’s that?”
He wants to go out with either one of us. She almost overflows with disgust when she hears it.
At the same time, Yomi was glad to know that she was not mistaken in her assessment of Akito’s character.
“He’s strange, isn’t he?”
“Yes, he is. Is Aneki thinking the same?”
“I don’t know. Something bothers me a lot. It’s so frustrating that I don’t know, but I’m going to go to him now. What about Yomi?”
“What are you going to do?”
Yomi and Rin’ne are on their way to him.
She is going with Rin’ne to give a one-sided rejection to the senior who said such a disgusting thing and to thank Akito for saying such a thing to them.
