I set conditions for being summoned to another world, but the Goddess still called me. - Chapter 2

Chapter 2- Now that I think about it, there were conditions, right?

　When I woke up, I was standing in what appeared to be a forest.

Was I in a forest or the Savanna’s? I don’t know much about it, but the Savanna is a grassland area if I’m not wrong. I remember seeing a video where it looked like this. I’m sure there must be wild animals hiding around here.

　Suddenly, I faced another problem. The bag I had prepared for my survival was missing. Everything is definitely the fault of the goddess. She’s not a bastard, but she was the one responsible for it. Give me my bag! What are you going to do with it?!

【Oh, sorry. Wait a minute.】

　Suddenly, I heard a voice in my head. It was definitely the goddess Alice’s voice. It seemed like she was watching me. That made sense.

【Yes. The bag! I had completely forgotten about it!】

　As she spoke, the bag I had prepared appeared before me.

“There’s quite a bit less stuff inside,” I muttered, holding the lighter bag in my hand.

【I’ve removed anything that can’t be brought into this world, so, do take care.】

　But then there’s no point in having an emergency bag anymore!! All the electronic devices were confiscated!

“Ha. I got it.”

　It was a pain to have my electronic devices confiscated, but in any case, it was unclear as to how long I would have been able to use them, so, either way, I had no choice but to accept it.

　Well, instead of electronic devices I at least got a cheat ability called ‘divine power’, so I’m sure I should be able to manage it somehow. It should work, right? It should!

　First, I need to check out what sort of abilities the goddess had. It’s a little scary to think about. It’s not that I doubt the Goddess, but she seems a bit absent-minded, and I can’t carelessly use things I’ve never used before.

　An explanation of the abilities appeared in my head. Like the interface of a game. Well, they’re still quite different from the ones you’d find in a game.

　It wasn’t a list displayed in front of me, but rather it felt like a separate window was opening in a different field of vision. It should be something called a multi-screen. Moreover, the displayed information entered my head in an instant without having to be read aloud. Is this the power of an apostle? It’s incredible.

　Although it was displayed neatly in the form of a list, it was difficult to understand what each exactly meant. If I concentrated hard enough, the item of my focus would be selected and a detailed explanation regarding it would be displayed. When the explanation was displayed, I could understand it at the same time. It was good that I could understand it immediately, but it seems that I need to display everything at least once to figure it all out.

　Anyway, I decided to give it a try.

　First of all, there’s the ability to fly. This ability is the most attractive, after all. It’s something humans have always longed for.

　Of course, I want to fly and see the world from the sky, but I also looked forward to the feeling of flying myself. When an aeroplane or rocket flies, you are just being pulled to float around it. You aren’t flying by yourself. You are just riding on it. But in my case, I should be able to float by myself. It is clearly different.

　When I selected the option 【Flight】 in my head, I immediately understood how to fly. It’s strange because it makes me feel like I’m just learning a new kind of technique with my body. It feels like I can fly without any worries.

　I floated up smoothly. It was my first time, but it felt strangely familiar. My whole body felt lighter, almost weightless.

　I took off and tried accelerating a bit. There was no problem, but as I continued flying I was getting hit by a strong wind and it caused me difficulty in breathing. I searched the list of abilities for something to help me protect myself from the wind, and, thus, I selected a defensive field from the ability 【Field Control】.

　I had chosen the right option. There was no wind hitting me at all. I could pick up speed rapidly. This way, I could fly freely.

　However, flying at high speeds with only a defensive field can be a bit scary. What if something attacks me? For the sake of safety, I’d like to try out some means of attack abilities as well.

　I climbed down to the rocks and searched my brain for an attacking ability. However, I couldn’t find anything. Speaking of magic, was there no fire magic or anything like that? Maybe I could just set something flammable on fire? I tried to use 【Material Manipulation】 to set flammable gas on fire.

“Flame thrower!”

　Nothing happened!

　It was a bit disappointing.

　‘There’s no option of cheating here,’ I thought, but then I somehow understood why it didn’t work. It’s probably because there’s nothing to burn. It seems the divine abilities don’t have the power to create matter.

　For the time being, assuming that I can’t create something from nothing, maybe divine power can be used as an energy source. An example was【Energy Manipulation】.

“Energy beam!”

　BRRRR. BANG!!

　I shot a heat beam at a rock and it exploded. What’s going on? Did the high heat cause the rock to explode? But this ability is usable.

　Thus, I tested out all the different types of abilities.

　As I was trying it out, I realised that it seems that the divine manipulation abilities didn’t work unless I had a clear image in my mind. Well, at least this way I won’t be foolish enough to have a dream and destroy the world.

　Once I got used to the abilities, I decided to check out the city of this new world. After all, I was finally in another world.

　When I selected the divine power 【Clairvoyance】, I could see an image from above. Of course, it was on a different screen.

　When I zoomed in I could see the actual details of the city, even the people moving around.

　The town looked like it was from the pre-industrial period. Maybe the mediaeval period era? Is that typical of this area? No, it seemed more deserted than that.

　Of course, that’s because they said it was in decline. If the Industrial Revolution had failed, would it have been like this? Why hadn’t it succeeded? Is there no coal?

　When I saw the residents, I was shocked. What is this? First of all, the people were lifeless. And their bodies were weak and beyond unhealthy.

　I used my ability to see other regions. There seem to be many different countries, but the scenery hasn’t changed much. It’s not just in decline, it’s already a dystopia. I think the population must have decreased dramatically. I have no idea what could have happened to make the situation turn out to be this. Everything appeared beyond my understanding.

　However, I thought that this was not a situation that even an apostle could handle on his own. Maybe the Goddess hasn’t even looked at the surface, after all. She said she wouldn’t touch it.

　Just as I was thinking that, I remembered that I had stated a condition when I had agreed to the summon.

“Hey, Goddess. I think I set conditions for the summoning.”

【Huh? What do you mean?】

　”Goddess, perhaps you didn’t read the conditions I wrote?”

【 Oh, what’s this all about?】

“I don’t think this world is in a situation where I can be carefree about things. I don’t think it’s something I can change in any way.”

【No, that can’t be.】

“No, that’s impossible. It’s completely different from the conditions, so cancel the summon.”

【Huh? Hold on a minute.】

　As soon as she said that, she suddenly appeared in front of me. I thought she couldn’t manifest to the surface?
