I Was Scammed By A Snow Leopard cub - Chapter 21
Chapter 21 – “Become My Partner.”
The little kid who just grit his teeth and climbed the stairs was still a little out of breath:
“F––father, Father, can Tuan Tuan come in?”
Xie Yingcheng, who was originally immersed in tracking down information, quickly suppressed his heavy emotions, opened the door, and saw Tuan Tuan standing by the door holding a lamb doll.
“Come in.” He closed the door and pulled a chair for the cub to sit in. “What’s the matter?”
When Tuan Tuan saw the large amount of information and the big display screen spread out on the table, he unconsciously stepped on the horizontal bar of the wooden chair with his little feet, and put his knees together, sitting in the most obedient posture possible.
Did he disturb his father’s work?
The little guy began feeling a little guilty.
But Tuan Tuan felt a little more confident when he thought about how his father and Luoluo had concealed the truth from him.
“Father, is Luo Luo leaving?”
Once reminded, Xie Yingcheng remembered that the time he and Luo Yu had agreed upon was almost up.
He leaned against the desk and looked at Tuan Tuan: “Yeah.”
The little guy immediately lost his composure, climbed down from the chair, and even dropped the lamb doll. He grabbed Xie Yingcheng’s trouser leg and asked anxiously, “Why? Why will Luo Luo leave?”
The cub’s little hands were clenched tightly, leaving wrinkles on the neatly ironed trousers, and his eyes were full of uneasiness and anxiety.
In the past, Xie Yingcheng would have directly told him the whole story, the reasons why Luo Yu stayed and left. In his subconscious, the descendants of the Xie family should have an indestructible will and a strong mind, and should not be discouraged by a little blow.
But for some reason, perhaps because he smelled the faint scent of irises on the cub, he softened his tone unconsciously and changed his euphemism.
“Just like you need to study, Luo Yu also has his own things to do, so he can’t accompany you anymore.”
The cub opened his mouth and blinked his eyes. Two seconds later, a string of tears fell without warning, wetting his eyelashes.
“Why? Tuan Tuan is very, very well behaved. He doesn’t disturb father or Luo Luo from doing their own things!”
The cub’s voice was full of grievance.
Xie Yingcheng sighed, leaned over and held the cub on the table. The cub’s tear glands were like a faucet that couldn’t be turned off, and tears kept flowing more and more.
The cub grabbed his sleeves and begged in a sobbing voice: “Tuan Tuan, don’t let Luoluo go. Father, please, let Luoluo stay with Tuan Tuan, okay?”
Xie Yingcheng pursed his lips and took out a handkerchief to wipe away the child’s tears.
“Jie Anxing, you can stabilize your transformation now. You don’t need Luo Yu to take care of you anymore.”
“Don’t be willful.”
The cub grabbed the hem of his shirt and pulled it loose.
Xie Yingcheng simply picked him up, held him in his arms, and let the cub lean against his arms.
The fabric on his chest was soaked with tears, and Xie Anxing’s little body was shaking with sobbing.
He raised his hand, hesitated for a moment, and then patted the cub’s back with clumsy movements.
Although separation was unbearable for the cub, Xie Yingcheng had already become numb to it.
Time passed minute by minute, and the wailing gradually turned into a few sobs occasionally, which meant that the emotional catharsis was coming to an end.
Suddenly, a small muffled voice came from the cub in his arms: “Father…”
“Um.”
“Can Tuan Tuan never grow up?”
“If Tuan Tuan doesn’t grow up, Luoluo can always take care of Tuan Tuan.”
The cub raised his eyes and looked at Jie Yingcheng.
His world is extremely simple, and his eyes only care about the people closest to him.
It only took a few days for him to get used to Luo Yu’s gentle voice telling him stories, his touch when combing his hair, and his goodnight kiss before bed.
In his heart, Luo Luo is different, different from his father and Uncle Wen Yan.
His father is like a ship traveling among the stars, a distant figure, and a presence that always puts him at ease.
Luo Yu is a companion, full of gentleness, and an irreplaceable sense of security. By his side, he can always remain a dumb little cub.
In a trance, Xie Yingcheng recalled the scene when he initially went to pick up the cub.
The cub whose parents passed away suddenly became a tool for the father’s family to fight for power. People were busy filing a lawsuit in the military court, but threw the two-year-old cub alone into an orphanage. The young orcs of the same age had already learned to transform, and stones kept hitting the little snow leopard’s head and body, and the cub could only curl itself up tighter and tighter, silently enduring it.
When Xie Yingcheng picked him up for the first time, he had the same look in his eyes, helpless, sad, and aggrieved, as if he had been abandoned by the whole world.
Xie Anxing’s heart ached slightly against his ribs.
Xie Yingcheng gave in.
“I’m going to talk to Luo Yu. You wait here for me, okay?”
When the cub heard his words, he hurriedly wiped the tears from his face with his sleeves and struggled to slide out of his arms to the ground.
“Father, you must let Luo Luo stay!” Tuan Tuan pushed him out of the study room. In the expectant eyes of the cub, Xie Yingcheng gritted his teeth and knocked on the door of Luo Yu’s room.
Inside the room, Luo Yu happened to find the blueprint left by his master while sorting his backpack. Standing by the window, he was staring at the blueprint in a daze.
In fact, his head was filled with Tuan Tuan’s little figure as he left.
How should he explain the matter of his departure to the cub? That taking care of him is just an agreement for money, and he will leave when the agreement is over?
What was a simple transaction for an adult was something he couldn’t articulate to a cub.
Luo Yu felt a little regretful. He should have been more tactful just now.
What should he do now?
Just when Luo Yu was feeling distressed, Jie Yingcheng’s arrival interrupted his thoughts.
Luo Yu’s first reaction was to ask him, “How is Tuan Tuan?”
“He’s resting upstairs,” Xie Yingcheng replied, “Mr. Luo, can we chat?”
Luo Yu subconsciously stepped aside and motioned for him to come in. Xie Yingcheng hesitated for a moment and walked in slowly.
His eyes inadvertently swept across the blueprint on the table, and when he was about to take it back, he suddenly stopped. He stared at the inconspicuous line of small words in the lower right corner of the blueprint.
“Checia? How do you know about it?”
Luo Yu was stunned at first, “Checia? What is that?” He followed Xie Yingcheng’s gaze and explained, “That is the blueprint left by my master.”
He walked over and picked up the drawing, only to find the small words written in the corner. When Wei Li was designing, he would often record his sudden ideas on the drawings. When he first saw the drawings, Luo Yu didn’t pay much attention to these three words, and thought they were the names given by his master to the brooch he designed.
Xie Yingcheng ran his finger over the brooch pattern in the center of the drawing.
“This is the Bradley family crest. Has your master ever done work for them?”
Feeling that Xie Yingcheng’s eyes and aura had changed, Luo Yu subconsciously became nervous: “This picture was customized for a noble from the main star two years ago. After this order, my Master never accepted any orders from the main star again.”
Xie Yingcheng stared at him closely, making sure that his words were not false, and slowly said: “This matter is very important, and even concerns the safety of the entire main planet. How much do you remember? The more detailed the better.”
His tone was more solemn and serious than ever before. Luo Yu did not dare to hold back and told him everything that had happened before and after the order. Hearing that Wei Li returned to the studio with injuries, Xie Yingcheng suddenly frowned.
“The reason why your master was injured is most likely related to these Checia.”
Luo Yu couldn’t sit still after hearing this, and stood up from his chair: “What do you mean? It was just an ordinary order for a brooch. How is it related to the military?”
Some of the contents were military secrets, so Xie Yingcheng couldn’t explain it too clearly. He could only deal with some of the things vaguely: “Checia is a banned drug. If your master had no idea about it before, he might have been accidentally implicated.”
Xie Yingcheng made a reasonable guess based on Luo Yu’s words, but in Luo Yu’s opinion, his master, Wei Li, only had eyes for the craft he had focused on for his entire life.
He must have been implicated.
If it wasn’t for the accidental injury two years ago, given his master’s physical condition, it would be impossible for him to pass away so soon. Thinking of this possibility, Luo Yu felt a chill in his heart.
Xie Yingcheng stood aside, silently observing Luo Yu’s reaction.
On the surface, the human seemed completely unaware of the matter, probably he really wasn’t lying.
His heart moved slightly.
“I am investigating this matter. This blueprint is very important evidence. Can you give it to me? I will return it to you after the matter is investigated thoroughly.”
Luo Yu agreed without hesitation and pleaded, “If you find anything related to my master, can you please tell me? If there is anything I can do to help, I will do my best to cooperate.”
This coincides with Xie Yingcheng’s idea.
“Mr. Luo can indeed provide me with some help in this matter. But it is in another way. It depends on Mr. Luo’s own wishes.”
“What method?”
Xie Yingcheng looked at him with burning eyes.
“Become my partner.”
