Isekai Nonbiri Sozai Saishu Seikatsu - Chapter 114
Having finished discussing Bandel’s request, I headed to the Adventurers Guild.
Since Sarabi is nocturnal, our departure was planned for the evening. To avoid sleep deprivation, I decided to take a nap during the day. With still some time left, I opted to distribute souvenirs.
“Ah, Shuu-san! Welcome back!”
“I’m back.”
“While you were away, we’ve accumulated quite a few collection requests. Shall we pick out around ten?”
As soon as our eyes met, Rabis attempted to steer the conversation towards requests.
She was as charming as ever, trying to smoothly handle the requests. It’s strange that she would try to push me into accepting ten at once.
“No, I received a personal request today.”
“I see…”
Upon informing her that I wouldn’t be taking any requests today, Rabis drooped her ears in disappointment.
“In exchange, I’ve brought the souvenir from Lindblum that I promised.”
The moment I said that, Rabis’s ears perked up instantly.
Not only her, but Shreddi and Katie who were at the reception desk, as well as the staff working in the back, all turned around as if they had been waiting.
I felt pressure, as if I had inadvertently stumbled into a nest of monsters while walking in the forest.
Though they didn’t abandon their work to come rushing over, their gazes were firmly fixed on me. It was intimidating.
“What kind of things did you bring?”
Receiving Rabis’s expectant gaze, I began to lay out the souvenirs from Lindblum on the table.
“Coral fragments, shells, dried Abysscus flowers, and seaweed!”
“Wow, I occasionally see these beautiful stone-like things. So these are coral fragments?”
“Yes, they are formed when coral breaks off and is worn down by the waves.”
As expected, being a woman, she seemed to have an eye for beautiful things.
Rabis gazed at the coral fragments with sparkling eyes.
Lumia, Nelge, Klaus and I all picked them up together. We debated whether to make them into accessories, but we didn’t have enough for everyone, and if we drilled holes in them, they could be used for existing accessories as well.
You could display them for decoration, give them to children, or add them to existing accessories.
“What about these whelk shells?”
“If you blow into them, they make a sound. Each one has a slightly different sound, which is quite interesting.”
“Oh, really?”
I highly recommended the whelk shells, but it seemed to elicit only a mild response from Rabis. That was a bit disappointing.
I wondered if only men appreciated this sort of thing. No, Lumia seemed to play with them innocently.
Well, people have different things that make them happy.
“How do you use Abysscus flowers?”
“You can mix them with sugar or lemon for juice, put them in tea, or float them in the bath.”
“Wow! Making juice or bath with flowers is so stylish!”
This time, the reaction was very positive.
I felt like just suggesting making juice wouldn’t have been enough, so I was glad I asked Nelge about other uses.
“It smells so nice. I’ll make a drink out of it right away.”
“Please do.”
Shreddi seemed to have taken a liking to the Abysscus flowers. As soon as she finished attending to the adventurers, she took a pot containing the flowers.
It’s probably something they make at the guild since it’s an easy juice to make. It seems like it would be relaxing to drink it in between work.
“Shuu-san, what about this seaweed?”
“You can rehydrate it and use it as an ingredient for soup, or simply simmer it to make dashi broth.”
“Dashi… broth?”
Rabis tilted her head and turned to ask Katie.
“Do you understand what it means to simmer seaweed to make dashi broth?”
“Huh? Don’t ask me about cooking stuff.”
Perhaps it’s because we’re not in a coastal town? Unlike Lindblum, it seems like the culture of making dashi broth hasn’t permeated here.
Maybe only a few chefs like Bandel know about it.
Hmm, did I go a bit too niche with this? But if you rehydrate it, you can still use it as soup ingredients to some extent, so it should be fine.
“…Um, by the way, Shuu-san? What about fish…?”
“Fish? I don’t have any.”
“Ehhhh!?”
As I gave a firm answer, the entire guild erupted into a scream as if shaken.
The staff who were attending to adventurers were left wide-eyed, and papers fell from the hands of the staff who were sorting documents.
T-The guild’s work…
“You went to Lindblum, famous for its seafood, and you didn’t bring back any seafood!?”
Rabis leaned forward, slamming the table. It seemed like the staff here were looking forward to seafood ingredients quite a bit.
“But it’s a week away by carriage from here, isn’t it? And it’s summer, it would spoil.”
“But Shuu-san, you’re an ice magic user! Freezing it would solve that issue!”
“Even so, wouldn’t it be unpleasant to transport frozen seafood in the middle of summer?”
Although there’s no worry about it melting if I constantly use ice magic, in this world where hygiene management is less strict compared to my previous life, it doesn’t sit right with me.
“I wouldn’t mind. I want to eat fish from the sea.”
However, it seemed Rabis didn’t share that sentiment.
“Eh…”
“Most of the sea fish brought to this town are handled that way.”
Katie chimed in to provide additional information.
It seems that the sea fish brought into this town are usually frozen using ice magic or items.
But I’m not a specialist in this field, and if they get spoiled or cause any issues, I wouldn’t be able to take responsibility.
Since I have a magic bag for myself, I hadn’t really thought deeply about it.
“I’ll buy some when I visit again in a different season.”
“Oh, my fish…”
Knowing there were no seafood ingredients as souvenirs, Rabis looked as if she had the eyes of a dead fish.

Having left souvenirs at the Adventurers Guild, I then headed to Drogan’s workshop.
“Hello!”
“Oh, Shuu-san. You’re back!”
“Yes, just a couple of days ago.”
As I entered the workshop, Roska, who was appraising gems at the reception, greeted me.
“Is Drogan around today?”
Drogan usually pops out from the back room or the forge when Roska and I are chatting like this, but today he wasn’t coming out.
“Oh, the boss went to a meeting, so he’s not here right now. Did you need anything?”
“No, I just came to say hello and bring some souvenirs, so it’s okay.”
“Oh, souvenirs!”
Roska’s ears and tail wiggled excitedly at the mention of souvenirs.
In front of the expectant gaze, I took out accessories and decorative materials like glass shells, coral fragments, and aqua ore from my bag, suitable for accessories and decorations, and laid them out.
“Wow! They’re all so beautiful! Especially this shell!”
While Roska delightedly praised the items, there were subtle glances exchanged between Rabis and Katie. But Roska was thrilled as if these were the finest items.
“This glass shell is from a Glass Mussel, and it’s considered a rarity even in Lindblum.”
“Thank you for such rare items! These would make great accessories for the wealthy! The theme could be the sea!”
Roska began to hum while gazing at the glass shell and coral fragments.
Seeing her entering a creative mode, I felt reluctant to interrupt, but I decided to bid a casual farewell. It wouldn’t be right to disturb her when she’s coming up with ideas.
It’s a relief I didn’t have to prepare something overly elaborate just because she’s a woman.
I figured she would appreciate items usable for her work, being Roska and all.
Afterwards, I handed out souvenirs to some acquaintances in town and then returned to the inn to take a nap, preparing for the night.
