Isekai Nonbiri Sozai Saishu Seikatsu - Chapter 83
“Huh? Shuu-san, weren’t you supposed to take a break for a while? Did you change your mind and decide to take on some requests!?”
As soon as I entered the Adventurer’s Guild, Rabis called out to me eagerly.
I’m not a masochist who comes to take on requests after completing a bunch of them.
“No, I’m not taking any. I just came to report because I’m temporarily leaving the town for a bit.”
I explained to Rabis about heading to Lindblum after making it clear that I wasn’t taking any requests.
“Lindblum. Sounds nice.”
Then, Rabis, upon hearing my explanation, let out a deep sigh.
Ah, she seems a bit troubled.
Seeing Rabis lying face down at the reception desk, ears drooping, I figured it out.
Rabis is the receptionist at the Grantel Adventurer’s Guild.
I heard that normally, she, along with Shreddi and Katie, handles reception for clients and adventurers, but it seems to be insanely busy.
“Guild staff sure have it tough.”
“It’s really tough! It’s a big mistake to think it’s an easy job just smiling and dealing with adventurers and clients. There’s so much to do – checking request forms from clients, organizing, storing, confirming delivery items, and them handing over to clients, reporting to headquarters, and so on.”
As I agreed, Rabis began to vent about the difficulty of her daily tasks.
It seemed like she had quite a bit built up.
Understanding this well from my past life as an office worker, I decided to nod with a smile and let her vent.
“Yeah, I want to go back to the life of a free adventurer.”
“Huh? You want to go back? Rabis-san, were you an adventurer in the past?”
“Ah!! No, you heard wrong! I said I want a life like an adventurer. Haha.”
Huh? Didn’t she just say she wants to go back to being an adventurer? Was that my mistake in hearing?
Looking at Rabis again, her body seems very delicate, and I can’t sense any rough, rugged atmosphere like that of an adventurer.
Well, there’s no way such a cute woman could be a former adventurer. Rabbit beastkin seem to be a gentle species.
It’s hard to imagine Rabis engaging in activities as an adventurer.
“I’m sorry for venting my complaints to you. Thank you for reporting that you’ll be leaving the town for a while. Please make sure to rest properly in Lindblum.”
Rabis said this as if she were trying to change the subject forcefully.
It’s a bit of an abrupt change of topic, but it’s probably because she felt embarrassed after venting her complaints.
Perhaps she felt relieved after letting it out to some extent.
“Yes, thank you. I’ll bring back souvenirs from Lindblum.”
As I said this to Rabis, who bowed her head slightly, Shreddi, Katie, and even the guild staff in the back all turned to look at me at once.
Several hopeful gazes pierced through me.
I don’t know why, but I feel more pressure than when facing Dvorak.
For just a moment, it felt like the air was tense, and time had stopped.
“Of course, souvenirs for everyone…”
“Thank you very much!”
Somehow managing to say this, I received smiles and words of thanks from the guild staff.
It seems like this was the right thing to do after all.
Surprisingly, the staff here might be a bit troubled.

I informed acquaintances at the Adventurer’s Guild and the stalls about leaving the town, then I moved on to inform Lumia and Saffy.
Passing by the Cat’s Tail Pavilion and through the quiet residential area, I arrived at Saffy’s shop, where she runs her alchemy business.
Peeking into the shop through the large and clean windows, Lumia was not at the reception table—she wasn’t there at all.
She wasn’t sitting on the chair by the window either.
Usually, when peeking from outside, either Lumia or Saffy would be sitting there.
Perhaps they’re practicing alchemy in the back room.
As I approached the door to enter the shop, I noticed a sign hanging indicating that it was closed.
“Huh? Could it be that they’re not open?”
It’s natural for a business to have days off, but it’s confusing because they’ve never done this before.
However, Lumia and Saffy’s shop also serves as their residence.
Even if the shop isn’t open, Lumia and Saffy might still be inside.
“Lumia-san, Saffy-san, are you there?”
I lightly knocked on the door and called out their names.
However, there was no response from inside, only the sounds of children playing in the distance.
I couldn’t tell if they couldn’t hear me or if they were actually inside.
There was no intercom or bell, and there was no way to call out to the people inside the house.
Should I try calling out again after going around to the back?
As I was thinking about that, I heard a voice from behind.
“Excuse me.”
“Y-Yes!”
When I turned around, there was a woman who seemed to be a neighbor standing there.
A man loitering in front of the vacant shop. Moreover, both homeowners are beautiful women.
Uh-oh, this looks extremely suspicious.
“Sorry! I’m not a suspicious person; I know the people here!”
“I know. I often see you entering this shop and talking with Lumia-chan.”
As I hurriedly explained, the woman nodded, albeit with some astonishment.
Phew. I thought I might be mistaken for a suspicious person and handed over to the knights.
As I breathed a sigh of relief, the woman spoke up.
“Lumia-chan and Saffy-san are out for an alchemist’s presentation or something. So, they won’t come out even if you call them, and you won’t be able to see them for a while.”
“I see. That’s how it is. Thank you very much for your kindness.”
I bow my head in thanks, and the woman nodded satisfactorily and went into the neighboring house.
It was closer than I had expected.
Perhaps she was so concerned because I was wandering around and calling out next door.
Anyway, I’m grateful for the information she provided.
It seems that Lumia and Saffy won’t be back for a while as they’re out for work.
I was looking forward to having tea and chatting with them after a long time, but it’s a pity.
It seems a bit uncertain whether they’ll return before I leave for Lindblum, but I’ll try visiting again on the last day.
If they still haven’t returned by then, I’ll leave a note in the mailbox.
With that decision made, I returned to the Cat’s Tail Pavilion.
