Isekai Nonbiri Sozai Saishu Seikatsu - Chapter 96
“Oh?”
While progressing near the seabed, activating the survey skill, I found crystals growing from the rocks and what seemed to be minerals buried in the ground.
It seems there are seabed minerals around here.
Maybe things that were formed deep underground were exposed due to tectonic movements or there was a civilization near the underwater temple and this place was once a mine or something like that.
When just using Detection, it’s hard to know that much, but for me right now, the materials in my sight are more important than the history of civilization.
There’s a romance in mining the minerals on the seabed.
I take out a pickaxe made of hard magic stone from my magic bag.
Due to being infused with magic during the battle with Dvorak, it became extremely hard magic stone, but thanks to absorbing magic with the magic crystal, it returned to its original state.
With this, I should be able to easily mine on the seabed.
【Marine Aura】
A blue crystal found in the sea
The more vibrant the blue, the higher its value. When heated, it becomes a clear blue and does not change color.
【Darkness Aura】
A dark blue crystal found in the sea.
The darker the blue, the higher its value. It has the property of reducing light.
【Sea Ore】
A mineral mixed with impurities found on the seabed. There are too many impurities to process it into weapons, but if extracted through alchemy, it becomes a beautiful pure blue stone.
It is treated as a gem for viewing purposes.
Due to the presence of seawater, I had to put in quite a bit of effort, but with my inherent hardness, I was able to crush the rocks.
I was able to mine two types of crystals and one type of ore.
The Marine Aura is a very clear blue crystal and is very beautiful.
It’s a vibrant blue, almost like it’s depicting Lindblum’s sea. Just looking at it makes me feel lively.
The Darkness Aura is a crystal that shines with a dark blue color, possessing a captivating beauty as if drawn in. It seems to hold the depth and mystery of the deep sea.
Both seem to fluctuate in value depending on their color.
And what was found underground was sea ore.
At first glance, it looks like a common ore with a bluish tint, but it seems that when impurities are removed through alchemy, it turns into a pure blue color.
It’s hard to believe it would turn out like that, but since appraisal-sensei wouldn’t lie, I’ll trust them and store it in my magic bag.
They all seem like they could be used for decoration, and Rosca would probably be delighted to buy them if I take them there.
I feel like these would be better gifts for Rosca than souvenirs like food.
As I store the crystals and ores and move forward, I see the silhouette of a monster camouflaged in the sand.
It has a roundish shape like an anglerfish, and upon closer inspection, the sand is slightly raised.
【Sand Gobbler】
A fish-shaped monster that inhabits the vicinity of the seabed. Nocturnal, it remains mostly motionless buried in the sand during the day.
It camouflages itself in the sand and strikes when prey passes directly above it.
Upon appraisal, it turned out to be a type of monster that lurks in the sand.
Out of curiosity, I throw the shell attached to the rock towards the Sand Gobbler.
In response, the monster with a face resembling an anglerfish swiftly strikes, devouring the shell whole with its sharp teeth.
“If I were to accidentally step into their territory, it could be quite dangerous.”
After finishing its meal, the Sand Gobbler glanced at me and then buried itself in the sand.
With the detection skill, I can see the Sand Gobbler escaping underground.
The seabed is more dangerous than the surface. Additionally, the types of fish and the number of monsters differ between nearshore and offshore areas.
I need to use the detection skill frequently to thoroughly scout ahead as I proceed.
♦ ♦ ♦
I used the detection skill to scout ahead and propelled myself with water magic for a while.
I arrived near a small island to the west of Lindblum.
When I peeked above the sea surface, I could see a small island. So, there’s no doubt that there’s a sunken ship around here.
Lucas mentioned that there are plenty of magical tools and treasures left inside the ship.
Instead of searching blindly, I feel like I could quickly find it using the detection skill.
“Detect.”
I activated the skill with more magical power than usual.
I expanded my magic to penetrate deep into the heart of the small island from my position.
A large number of materials appeared within my field of vision. Ignoring various intriguing shapes and materials shining orange, I focused on searching for the sunken ship.
Then, I found materials unnaturally elevated underwater.
When I focused on that area, I could see many artifacts resembling coins, glass, and accessories clustered together.
Could these be the treasures from the sunken ship?
Curious, I propelled myself directly to that location with water magic.
There lay a sunken ship covered with seaweed and shells, on a large rocky area.
It seemed to be a quite large galleon with four masts.
It matched the characteristics of the ship Lucas described, and such a large ship would likely belong to a lord ruling over a port town.
Many fish swam around, having become completely accustomed to the seascape over several decades.
While observing the ship’s condition as I circled around, I noticed a large hole in its side. The impact had caused the ship to split in two.
Had it collided with a reef? Or had it been struck by a gigantic fish?
Though the reason was unknown, it seemed likely that this hole had dealt a fatal blow to the ship.
I wonder if there are fierce monsters capable of confronting such a massive ship. I hope, if anything, it collided with a whale-like giant fish or a reef.
I can’t help but imagine that sailors who went down with the ship might suddenly emerge.
Although I have the detection skill, which makes ambushes unlikely, and I can use farsight, this is a different matter altogether.
While the ship’s interior is intricate, logically, since it was once a ship, it shouldn’t have overly complex structures.
Seeing the remains of decayed tables and chairs, it’s clear that my current location is a room, so once I get out into the hallway, moving around should be easier.
When I try to touch the doorknob at the entrance, it comes off easily.
Since there’s no other option, I try pushing the door, but it doesn’t budge.
It turns out, the door is stuck because there are many barnacles attached to the gap.
With a bit of force, I kick the door, and it easily comes off.
“…I feel like I’m desecrating a grave or something.”
Rummaging around in an empty ship feels somewhat like a minor sin.
However, I have Lucas’s permission to explore, so I shouldn’t dwell on it too much.
