My Classmate Whom I Helped Seems to Be Mentally Sick, So I've Been Trying My Best to Hide My True Identity, But It Seems Like I've Been Found Out - Chapter 10
Lying Isn’t Good, Okay?
“Ah, Takizawa-kun! You’re late.”
Upon entering the home economics preparation room, I saw Sumire Murasaki sitting at the same seat by the window at the back of the room as she was during lunch break.
And seeing her react as if she knew I would come, I was convinced that she had indeed established the reading club to pull me into the same club.
“…Hello.”
The moment I realized that, my mood dropped even more.
However, disregarding my mood, she picked up one of the books stacked on the desk and smiled at me.
“This one, I recommend it. Do you read light novels, Takizawa-kun?”
“Well, I do read them. But, do you read such things, Murasaki-san?”
“I used to read mysteries, but lately, I guess I like romantic comedies. They are healing, and somewhat aspirational.”
The cover had an illustration of a cute high school girl smiling.
And I did recognize that cover.
A recently famous light novel.
The content is about a slightly horror, mismatched love story where a yandere heroine stalks the protagonist, trying unilaterally to become friends.
It’s interesting, and while reading, the charming heroine is enjoyable, but such a girlfriend in reality would be absolutely so morbid that I would definitely hate her.
Whether she loves reading it simply because the work is interesting or there is something she can relate to…I want to ask but don’t have the courage to do so.
“Yeah, that’s indeed popular. I think I read it once.”
“Really? Then, Takizawa-kun, you also like yandere-type?”
“I wouldn’t say I like it, but, well, I think a devoted person is nice.”
“Right? Some people say it’s heavy, or scary, but this is the real pure love.”
She has a tremendous understanding of yandere.
She must be considerably mentally sick.
I wonder if she’s originally like this, or if something happened with her ex-boyfriend, or perhaps it’s the influence of such books.
Anyway, what a waste, I think.
As I avert my eyes from the happy-looking her and sigh in my heart,
She stood up.
“Takizawa-kun, are you regretting joining the reading club?”
“What?”
“You said you would like to join if there was a reading club, didn’t you? Wait, was that a lie? Did you lie to a friend?”
“Murasaki…san?”
Somehow Sumire Murasaki is trembling all over, and her gaze is getting darker.
The cheerful demeanor until a moment ago disappeared in an instant; her gaze became gloomy and moist, just as clouds covered the sun outside and darkened it.
And just as Sumire Murasaki, who quietly stood up, was about to step towards me,
I spontaneously let out a voice.
“Th-thank you for creating the reading club! I’m looking forward to the activities every day!”
I had not been harmed in any way, but I had an intuition that this was dangerous.
She stopped her feet sharply, then opened her vacant eyes wide and looked at me with a puzzled face.
“Really? Then, you’ll come properly from tomorrow?”
“Of, of course! Ah, I wonder what book I should read tomorrow—ahaha.”
“I’m glad. Then, let’s leave it at that for today, and think about what we want to read by tomorrow.”
“S-sure. Then, are you going home now?”
“Yeah. Shall we go home together?”
She swiftly put her book into her bag and closed the window, then immediately left the classroom.
I head towards her as she beckons me from the entrance.
While I returned the key to the staff room after locking it, she was surprisingly quiet compared to earlier.
Feeling a bit uneasy about her being like this, I silently followed and left the school building with her.
