My Classmate Whom I Helped Seems to Be Mentally Sick, So I've Been Trying My Best to Hide My True Identity, But It Seems Like I've Been Found Out - Chapter 21
It Must Be My Imagination
“How was it, did you enjoy the meal?”
“Uh, yeah.”
Just as I finished the stew, Sumire Murasaki returned at the same time.
It felt like she took a while, but I couldn’t exactly ask her about it, so I continued the conversation.
“I-it was delicious. Thank you.”
“I’m glad it suited your taste. More importantly, if Saki Mifune-san is joining the club tomorrow, what kind of activities should we do? We’ll be a group of three now.”
“True, what should we do? For a reading club, all I can think of is reading books and discussing their contents.”
“Discussing… that sounds good. We could share what we’ve read and introduce the books in a way that might interest the other.”
“Oh, that actually sounds great. It’s very club-like.”
“Right? Well, let’s try it out. I’ll explain it to Saki Mifune… when she comes to the clubroom tomorrow.”
Whenever she mentions Saki Mifune’s name, she does so with what appears to be a sour mood.
Is it simple jealousy, or perhaps…disdain?
Either way, she doesn’t seem too happy about letting Saki Mifune join the reading club.
But she’s accepted it, so there must be a reason.
Asking her might stir up trouble, and it’s not worth it, so I decided not to ask.
Trying to understand the inner workings of such an emotionally unstable person would only lead to getting myself burned, and it’s not like I’d be able to comprehend her purpose even if she told me.
For now, it’s better to focus solely on watching how things unfold and keeping my own identity a secret.
“I’ll leave it to you then. I find people like Mifune-san a bit difficult to handle.”
“Is that so?”
“Yeah, well, I’m not really comfortable with people who are assertive, I guess I find them intimidating.”
“Hmm. But that makes sense; she does seem a bit selfish…”
‘But I’m different!’ Sumire Murasaki seemed to want to say in that tone, looking proud as she started clearing the dishes.
I again intently watch her silhouette as she stands in the kitchen.
She is indeed very efficient.
It’s as if she knows exactly what’s on every shelf in the kitchen; Sumire Murasaki moves smoothly as she cleans up.
Seeing her like this must be leading me to have unwarranted suspicions.
It’s just a coincidence.
It must be a common pattern.
(TN: ‘Pattern’ refers to the idea that other people also arrange items on every shelf in the same manner or location.)
But the apron she’s wearing…
It looks exactly like the one I sewed during home economics class in middle school.
Uhh… I guess such checkered patterns must be common.
Because that one should be stored deep inside the closet in my room.
