Seeing Ruan Zhixian, the first thing Shen Yan thought wasn’t when he had arrived or how long he had been there.

He wondered if there were others in the room.

He stopped, held his breath, and carefully listened for any possible sound in the room.

After only a few seconds, he heard the person nearby chuckle softly.

“Bro, who are you looking for?”

Shen Yan felt his shoulder being hugged. Ruan Zhixian pressed close and sat down beside him against the wall, gently pressing Shen Yan’s head onto his shoulder.

“Warren? Falson? Or Blaze?”

“They’re not here. Do you want to see them?”

Shen Yan didn’t answer but reached out, trying to touch Ruan Zhixian’s face.

Ruan Zhixian stayed still, letting him touch.

When Shen Yan’s fingers reached his lips, they moved slightly, brushing his fingertips like a light, quick kiss.

Shen Yan paused subtly, then continued downward, passing his chin to his neck.

Ruan Zhixian thoughtfully tilted his head back; Shen Yan’s palm covered his neck, feeling the protruding Adam’s apple beneath.

After confirming the spot with familiarity, he suddenly sprang up, grabbed the other end of the chain, and fiercely choked Ruan Zhixian.

Ruan Zhixian coughed softly from his throat, grabbed the chain, struggled a bit, but found it amusing and actually laughed out loud.

Pulling on the chain, he easily slipped free.

“Bro, trying to use me to break the chain? No, they’ll get nervous.”

Shen Yan quickly gave up, tilting his head, eyes roughly towards Ruan Zhixian, smiling.

His mood was relaxed, like catching up with a long-lost friend.

“Of course not. Bringing them here is to satisfy your expectations.”

Ruan Zhixian returned to sitting side by side, holding Shen Yan’s shackled hand in his palm. One by one, their fingers intertwined, gripping tightly, then loosening, then tightening again.
