- Chapter 43 - Bound and Broken Script
The girl obediently scooted closer to him.
Her small face was flushed red, unbearably enticing.
On her snow-white neck were the marks he’d just left.
He hadn’t even used much strength, so why were they so clear? Looked like she had the kind of skin that bruised easily.
The man’s eyes narrowed dangerously, his breathing turning slightly uneven.
He wanted nothing more than to quickly cover up those unsightly marks left by those other bastards.
“Get on top yourself.”
His voice was low and hoarse.
But Ruan Tang acted as if she hadn’t heard him. She raised her hand, plucked the cigarette from between his lips, dropped it on the ground, and crushed it under her heel.
Then, hands on her hips, her soft, sweet voice took on a prim tone as she scolded him.
“As a male lead, how can you smoke? It’s such a bad influence! Do you have any idea how strict censorship rules are these days?”
Before coming here, she’d studied the System’s Quick-Transmigration Space Guidelines.
The longest chapter was on all kinds of censorship regulations—things with “negative guidance” were absolutely forbidden—and she had dutifully committed them to memory.
(t/n: “Negative guidance” here refers to Chinese media censorship rules forbidding the depiction of behaviors considered morally harmful, like smoking.)
Ren froze.
He looked at the crushed cigarette on the ground, then at the petite, beautiful girl in front of him.
That soft, delicate demeanor—yet she could meet his gaze without the slightest fear—caught him off guard.
Ruan Tang grabbed his hand and started pulling him outside.
As she walked, she chattered on in her soft, complaining tone.
“Why did you come so late? Do you know how hard it was for me to find you? I’m even wearing high heels! I’ve been all over this hotel looking for you, my legs are killing me, wuu…”
Ren stared blankly at the girl leading him forward.
Her snow-white little hand was holding his large, bronze-toned one.
Her tone was so natural, so familiar, as if they’d known each other forever.
She was looking for me?
Why?
The more he thought about it, the less sense it made—yet his heart had suddenly started to beat faster.
Once they stepped outside the room, Ruan Tang realized they were actually deep in the mountains, surrounded by nothing but trees as far as the eye could see. There was no way to tell which direction to go.
She turned back with a troubled look.
“Do you know the way?”
Ren’s narrow eyes narrowed further. “You’re that eager to go back?”
Ruan Tang nodded. “I need to hurry and bring you to meet Ah Li! You’ll definitely like him once you see him—you two are a perfect match!”
She felt a bit guilty saying this.
After all, Leng Li was currently a man, and the person in front of her… well, he didn’t exactly look like… cough.
But she had to at least try!
The moment the words left her lips, Ruan Tang was suddenly spun around and pinned against the wall.
The posture was exactly the same as when Leng Li had pressed her against the floor-to-ceiling window yesterday.
The man’s solid chest was pressed against her back, his slightly angry voice rumbling above her head.
“What’s this? A man who touched you last night, and now you’re trying to push me toward someone else? Hm?”
Ruan Tang panicked instantly.
This wasn’t in the script at all.
You’re the male lead—you’re supposed to go after the female lead, not pin down a completely insignificant female side character like me!
The wall was a little rough, and Ruan Tang’s skin was delicate; that sudden slam had already left her sore.
Frightened, her eyes turned red.
“What are you doing… let me go…”
Her tear-tinged plea only made his blood boil all the more.
But then he caught sight of her arm.
Such delicate skin—just a touch and it was marked.
If she was the same in bed, how could she dare to play with three men at once? Was she not afraid for her life?
A flicker of suspicion rose in him.
He scooped her up sideways and strode back to the bed, tossing her down.
In one motion, he tore her priceless dress.
Ruan Tang gasped in fright, hurriedly crossing her arms over her chest, her face burning red.
“Wh-what are you doing?!”
His Adam’s apple bobbed hard. In his vision was the girl’s flawless, unblemished figure.
Other than the marks on her neck, there wasn’t a single trace of intimacy.
So last night, she hadn’t actually done anything with those men…
The irritation in his chest eased somewhat, but another, more restless feeling surged up.
He grabbed the thin blanket and tossed it over her. His voice was low and rough.
“Cover yourself.”
Ruan Tang clutched the blanket tightly, still rattled, like a startled little rabbit.
She huddled in the corner of the bed, her dewy peach-blossom eyes darting at him in panic.
“Wh-what are you trying to do…”
Ren chuckled lowly. “How dumb can you be? I kidnapped you. Isn’t it obvious?”
“Kidnapped?! You’re a kidnapper?”
Her eyes went wide.
He frowned slightly. “No. I’m a killer. A certain quiet, elegant woman paid a fortune for me to kill you.”
Quiet and elegant? Wasn’t that the same woman she’d met at the Lu family who’d been openly hostile to her?
Just then, the System’s voice rang in her mind.
【Tang Tang! Some of the plot bug has been fixed! It turns out Lu Chengzhou is actually the second male lead, and he was supposed to like Leng Li! That quiet, elegant woman, out of jealousy, should have kidnapped Leng Li instead!】
Ruan Tang’s vision went dark.
She’d messed it up again.
A wave of grief hit her, and tears welled up, rolling down her cheeks in big, shimmering drops.
Ren saw this, and for some reason, his chest tightened. He reached out to wipe her tears, speaking awkwardly.
“Don’t be scared. I’m not going to kill you anymore.”
But Ruan Tang hiccupped through her tears. “…Just kill me.”
The mission was completely ruined anyway.
She’d failed yet again.
Wuuu… she couldn’t bear to face anyone.
Ren’s brows knit together. He gripped her chin, forcing her to look at him.
“You don’t want to live? Why? Because I kidnapped you? Do you hate me that much?”
His barrage of questions left her dazed.
Her mist-filled eyes, hazy and bewildered, looked up at him, making his chest ache with a mix of frustration and impulse.
And then, unable to stop himself, he lowered his head and crushed his lips against hers.
She was like a piece of soft, fragrant candy—just looking at her made his heart itch, but tasting her made him lose his mind.
He kissed her like a madman, his heart pounding fit to burst.
It felt… familiar.
As if, long ago, in some far-off past, he had kissed her just like this, taking her lips without asking.
When the long kiss finally broke, Ruan Tang was limp in his arms, chest heaving for breath, her little face flushed pink.
He brushed his fingers over the damp curve of her lips, his voice thick with hoarse possessiveness.
“I know you’ve had a lot of men before. I can’t control the past—but from now on, for the rest of your life, there can only be me. Understand?”
He had decided to face his own desires head-on.
He wanted her. Wanted her to belong only to him.
This wish felt as though it had spanned his entire life—perhaps even longer—so strong it seemed like he had come into this world for this single purpose.
Yet when Ruan Tang heard his fervent declaration, instead of being moved, she only cried harder.
Because in her head came a merciless chime.
【Ding-dong. Your mission in the second world has officially failed. 200 points deducted. Current total: -200 points.】
【Friendly reminder: when your total reaches -1000 points, the punishment mechanism will activate. Please take care, and do better in the next world~】
