- Chapter 80 - A Dangerous Obsession
After walking Ruan Tang home, Qi Guang’s mood was so light he felt like he was floating, as if every step landed softly on cotton.
Back at the dorm, even after showering, he still wore a silly grin, chuckling to himself every few seconds.
His head was filled with nothing but that sweet, soft kiss from Tangtang.
His roommates all looked at him with open disgust.
“What’s up with Qi-ge?”
“You don’t get it? Spring has come, obviously.”
“But that’s the campus flower, the one who’s been top of the forum rankings since day one. How could she possibly fall for a fool like Qi-ge?”
“Maybe the trend’s shifted—being stupid is in style now?”
“Nah, you don’t understand. This is what you call brain-dead beauty! Of course, the prerequisite is still being handsome.”
While the roommates were chatting nonsense, someone knocked at the door.
One of them went to open it—and froze.
Standing at the doorway was Gu Ming.
Expressionless, head slightly lowered, his black hair shadowed those broodingly beautiful brows and eyes.
His voice was low, cold.
“Is Qi Guang here?”
The roommate hesitated, replying cautiously:
“He is, but… you’re not from our department, are you? How’d you get into our dorm building?”
Gu Ming didn’t answer.
He only lifted his head slightly. Those phoenix eyes, cold and shadowed, cut across the room like blades.
“Call him out.”
The roommate’s entire body broke out in chills. He instinctively stepped back, turning to shout:
“Qi-ge! Someone’s looking for you—”
Qi Guang was still grinning like an idiot. Only after being called twice did he finally react, loping toward the door with a smile.
“Who is it—”
The only thing that greeted him was a black fountain pen. Its sharp tip gleamed with a metallic glint like a blade.
Gu Ming didn’t bother with pleasantries. He clutched that pen like a weapon and lunged straight for Qi Guang’s face.
Fortunately, Qi Guang’s reflexes were excellent. His athletic instincts kicked in, and he barely twisted aside in time.
Even so, the pen’s tip still grazed across his cheek, leaving behind a shallow cut.
Black ink mixed with the thin line of blood, creating something disturbingly eerie.
Qi Guang winced, his brows furrowing in pain. Furious, he grabbed Gu Ming’s wrist.
“The hell—are you looking for a fight?!”
When the pen didn’t completely ruin Qi Guang’s face, Gu Ming’s expression showed faint regret.
But his voice remained utterly calm, as if he hadn’t just tried to stab someone.
“I wasn’t looking for a fight.”
His pale, handsome face carried a sickly sort of beauty. He lifted his lashes indifferently.
“I only wanted to kill you.”
Everyone: “…………!!”
Where the hell did this lunatic beauty come from?!
The roommates were terrified.
Qi Guang’s face darkened, his grip tightening around Gu Ming’s wrist like he was about to crush it.
But he forced himself to stay calm.
He hated violence.
“Gu Ming, doing this will only make Tangtang hate you more.”
Gu Ming’s lashes quivered, a flicker of hesitation flashing in his eyes.
But just as quickly, it disappeared.
A mocking smile curved his lips.
“You really think Tangtang will like you?”
That line stabbed straight into Qi Guang’s sore spot. His lips pressed into a thin line, his expression turning grim.
Gu Ming coldly shook off his grip.
“Cherish your time with Ruan Tang while you can. Because soon, I’ll take her back.”
He tossed the words down and turned to leave.
Qi Guang stared icily at his retreating back.
Not a single roommate dared to make a sound. It was their first time seeing the usually cheerful, dumb jock wear such a chilling, dangerous expression.
It was like he had become an entirely different person.
Moments later, Qi Guang kicked a chair over with a loud crash, muttering curses under his breath.
Regret clawed at him.
He should’ve smashed a fist into Gu Ming’s face earlier—best case, break his nose so he could never again use that face to seduce Tangtang!
Ruan Tang, meanwhile, kept feeling like someone was staring at her.
On the way to class, during class, and even while heading to meet Qi Guang for a date…
There was always that burning, stubborn gaze pressing down on her, making her uneasy and restless.
“Wife!!! Over here! I’m here!!”
From a distance, she spotted the tall, handsome youth waving enthusiastically at the campus gate.
His dyed golden hair glinted under the sun, almost transparent at the tips.
That bright, friendly smile of his made it easy for anyone to feel at ease.
He couldn’t wait for Ruan Tang to come over—so he sprinted across the pavement himself.
One big hand wrapped around her slender waist, and with a little effort, he lifted her clear off the ground, spinning her around with joy.
“Wife! I missed you! I’m so happy to see you!!”
Startled by the sudden loss of footing, Ruan Tang quickly wrapped her arms around his neck. In the scramble, her balance gave way, and she fell right into Qi Guang’s embrace.
Soft warmth pressed against him. For two seconds, his mind short-circuited.
When he came back to his senses, his handsome face flushed scarlet. He hurriedly set her down and bowed deeply, nearly ninety degrees.
“S-sorry!!!”
He had gotten carried away. Please, please don’t let his wife hate him!
Ruan Tang waved her hands in flustered denial.
“No, no, you don’t need to apologize…”
“But…”
Qi Guang looked like a child who had done something wrong, sneaking a guilty glance at her.
Today, she was wearing a strapless summer dress, the light fabric edged with frills. When the breeze stirred it, the faint, alluring curves beneath were revealed.
And just now… he had felt the softest place of all…
His breathing quickened. He tore his gaze away, his voice hoarse.
“Did it hurt?”
His nose bridge was so high—what if it had jabbed her?
Ruan Tang flushed as well.
It did hurt a little, but she was too embarrassed to say so.
“It’s fine. Qi Guang-ge, where are we going today?”
Qi Guang’s eyes lit up as he looked at her.
“Wherever Tangtang wants to go!”
She tilted her head, thinking, then answered softly:
“The amusement park!”
They had planned to go during the first world, but never made it. She had been thinking about it ever since.
Qi Guang reached out to ruffle her hair affectionately.
“Okay! Your husband will take you!”
Their first stop, at her request, was the haunted house.
Qi Guang puffed out his chest.
“If you get scared, you can throw yourself into my arms!”
But Ruan Tang didn’t answer.
Because she felt that gaze again—hotter than before, drilling into her.
At the campus gate earlier, when Qi Guang had hugged her, that gaze had already been icy cold.
Now, inside the darkness of the haunted house, it clung to her every move.
It was as if her whole body had been licked over, piece by piece, by invisible eyes.
Ruan Tang shivered, hugging her arms close. Her teeth caught her lip, her eyes misting with shame.
In the dim light, Qi Guang misread her trembling. He thought she was scared.
“Wife, are you afraid? Here, give me your hand.”
Carefully, she slid her soft little hand into his palm, moving closer against his side.
She wasn’t afraid of ghosts.
What she feared… was the thing lurking in the dark, coveting her.
