- Chapter 183 - Kiss Me Until I Forget Them All
Gu Leng’s expression darkened as he spun around and bolted back toward the place where they had just run into Ruan Tang.
Yan Ri hurried after him.
But by the time they arrived, Ruan Tang’s figure was already gone.
“Where’s Tangtang?!” Yan Ri grew even more agitated, shoving Gu Leng.
“Didn’t you see her? Where is she?!”
Gu Leng stood rooted to the ground, eyes locked on the spot where Ruan Tang had been moments ago. The shadows on his striking features deepened.
“She was taken away.”
Yan Ri’s face instantly sank.
“Taken away? By who?”
“Wen Yan.”
Yan Ri froze. “Wen Yan? …You don’t mean Yan, do you?!”
His fists clenched, his face growing uglier by the second. Then something occurred to him, and he rounded on Gu Leng with a sharp question.
“Wait—what’s your relationship with Ruan Tang? Why does her brother know you?!”
Gu Leng shot him a cold glance.
“She and I are engaged. Sooner or later, her brother will be calling me brother-in-law.”
Yan Ri’s mind went blank. “???”
—
Meanwhile, elsewhere.
“Ah Yan, slow down… I-I can’t keep running…”
Ruan Tang stopped, bracing herself on her knees as she caught her breath, her peach-blossom eyes misty.
“Sorry, Tangtang.”
Wen Yan had been desperate to help her escape from the other men, and in his haste, he’d pushed her too hard.
“It’s fine… They probably won’t chase us anymore, right…”
“They?”
Wen Yan instantly sensed something was wrong. “Besides Gu Leng, who else?”
Ruan Tang lowered her gaze, sounding pitiful.
“Yan Ri saw me too…”
The words had barely left her lips when Yan Ri’s booming voice rang out nearby.
“Tangtang!!! Where are you?! What do you mean you’re engaged to Gu Leng? How come I never knew about this?!”
His voice grew more and more aggrieved as he shouted.
“How could you be engaged to another man!!! Then what does that make me…”
By the end, he was shouting in rage.
“I don’t care! I refuse to accept it! I want to hear it from your own mouth! Come out right now!!!”
Ruan Tang trembled in fright, shrinking behind Wen Yan and clutching his suit so tightly the fabric wrinkled beneath her fingers.
She didn’t dare peek out.
Wen Yan’s eyes darkened.
He took her hand and pulled her with him into a nearby storage cabinet.
The cramped space forced Ruan Tang into his arms.
Her pale little hands twisted helplessly at his expensive suit, while her luminous peach-blossom eyes peeked nervously through a crack to watch the outside.
Uuuh… Yan Ri looks really angry.
Her body shook with fear.
Feeling her trembling against him, Wen Yan’s heart ached. He pulled her closer, voice gentle and magnetic as it brushed the crown of her head.
“Don’t be afraid. I’m here.”
Ruan Tang lifted her watery eyes to him, offering a faint smile.
“Thank you, Brother Yan.”
Wen Yan froze, dazzled, his throat bobbing as emotion surged through him.
But then Yan Ri’s earlier words echoed in his ears, sourness flooding his chest.
Unable to stop himself, he asked,
“Tangtang, was what he said true? You and Gu Leng… are really engaged?”
He had known about Gu Leng as her blind date, but hearing “engagement” was a first.
Wen Yan was always the picture of warmth and courtesy, and Ruan Tang couldn’t bring herself to outright lie. She hedged softly.
“Sort of…”
She was about to explain it was just a childhood betrothal when Wen Yan didn’t give her the chance—he lowered his head and crushed his lips against hers.
“Mmph…!”
Ruan Tang jolted, trying to struggle, but his arm locked tight around her waist, pinning her.
And with the cabinet so cramped, she couldn’t risk moving too violently—what if she made a noise and drew Yan Ri straight to them?
So she could only endure the searing, desperate kiss.
She had never expected someone as polished and gentle as Wen Yan to kiss with such ferocity, such recklessness.
There was despair in it.
Her head was forced back, her small hands clutching helplessly at his lapels, her slender white neck looking like it might snap at any moment.
The narrow space grew stiflingly hot.
Then—voices right outside.
Yan Ri again, his tone thick with jealousy and mockery.
“Hey, Gu Leng, aren’t you supposed to be her fiancé? Yet she’s still hiding from you, isn’t she?”
Gu Leng was here too?!
Ruan Tang trembled violently.
Sensing her panic, Wen Yan deepened the kiss, as if to pull all her attention back to himself.
She hadn’t been ready for it and let out a small whimper.
Both men outside fell silent.
“Hey, Gu Leng, did you hear something?”
Gu Leng’s brows furrowed, his eyes locked on the cabinet before him. For an instant, pain flickered in his gaze.
But his voice remained controlled, almost detached.
“No. You must’ve misheard.”
His Tangtang is shy. She wouldn’t want to be discovered.
“I think I saw her run that way.” Gu Leng pointed casually in the wrong direction, his face expressionless.
“Shit! Why didn’t you say so earlier? Let’s go!” The ever-gullible Yan Ri believed him and dashed off.
The hallway fell quiet again.
At last, Ruan Tang sighed in relief. Wen Yan let her go, resting his chin against her shoulder, his breath hot and uneven.
He hadn’t meant to frighten her. He’d just… been consumed by jealousy.
When it seemed safe, Ruan Tang carefully pushed open the cabinet door to slip away—
And froze.
Gu Leng stood outside, waiting.
His black eyes were dark as midnight, fixed directly on her.
“Gu Leng…?” Ruan Tang’s voice trembled.
Seeing her in Wen Yan’s arms sent a piercing ache through Gu Leng’s chest, pain radiating outward until it consumed him whole.
He didn’t say a word—just took her hand and pulled her away.
Wen Yan scowled, about to give chase—
But Gu Leng turned, kicked the cabinet door shut, and with a click, locked it.
He left no room for pursuit.
Fury boiled over in Wen Yan. He pounded the door with his fist, his face thunderous. For once, he even cursed aloud.
Then he pulled out his phone, voice cold.
“Northwest corridor, second floor. Bring me an axe.”
His assistant nearly dropped the phone. “President Wen, wh-what do you need an axe for? You’re not… planning to hurt someone, are you?”
Wen Yan’s eyes narrowed.
If only he could.
Because who knew what Gu Leng, in his current state, might do to Ruan Tang.
—
Gu Leng dragged her into a deserted corner.
Before she could speak, he pinned her against the wall and kissed her hard.
It was a kiss of despair and fire. She tried to resist, but he caught both her wrists in one hand and pressed them above her head.
Only when she was nearly breathless did he finally relent.
Bending close, his searing breath spilled across her sensitive ear as his hoarse voice growled:
“So that’s your precious Ah Yan?”
