- Chapter 191 - The Creepy Student Council President Who Stalks His Senpai (9) "Ride With Me, Senpai"
At the equestrian center, the rich kids had their own horses, well cared for by private staff. The more average students, however, had to choose from the academy’s stable.
Even then, horse selection followed a strict hierarchy. Xia Chuhe was always last in line and never had a shot at the better horses.
But today was different.
She had come with Nan Muxi.
Most people, seeing her standing next to him, immediately switched to a respectful, deferential tone and politely insisted she pick first.
Flattery could easily go to one’s head. Xia Chuhe didn’t even glance at the top-tier purebred horses she’d normally never get close to. She held her head high and followed proudly behind Nan Muxi.
The upperclassmen who had let her pick first found it baffling. Wasn’t the whole point of cozying up to Young Master Nan to show off in front of them?
Why act like she was going to choose, only to back off?
Fine, if she wasn’t choosing, they were more than happy to take her place.
But none of that mattered.
Xia Chuhe knew from experience: the real gems were the horses Nan Muxi kept stabled here himself.
He never let anyone else touch them. If she could ride one of his today… she couldn’t even imagine how many of the other heiresses would be seething with envy.
“Do you like them?”
The boy tilted his head toward her, his smile teasing, tone lazy, as his hand stroked the glossy mane of a chestnut warmblood. Both he and the horse looked like they’d stepped out of a comic book.
His horses were fiercely loyal, jostling to get close, each one trying to steal a moment with their master, even shoving the chestnut aside for attention.
Sleek and powerful, with elegant builds and luxurious gear, the horses exuded nobility. Their athletic grace only made them more likable.
“They’re beautiful. I like all of them.”
Xia Chuhe nodded eagerly, assuming Nan Muxi was letting her pick one. She walked over to a gorgeous dapple-grey and reached out to touch its gleaming mane.
“But I think I like this one the most—ah!”
The grey abruptly raised its hoof and kicked her squarely to the ground, swift and unapologetic, then turned its back and swished its tail at her.
Nan Muxi chuckled knowingly.
Of course she liked the pretty one. The grey prince on a white steed—just the kind of fantasy an F-rank Cinderella would have.
Did the pretty senpai dream about things like that, too?
Well, he could help her make that dream come true.
Most of his horses were spirited and hard to handle, not suited for beginners. Better not scare her off on the first try—he’d start her off with the mild-mannered little red one.
Just then, a familiar silhouette appeared in the distance. Nan Muxi took the chestnut’s reins and headed over, not sparing a glance for the woman still groaning on the ground.
Back at the academy stable, most of the horses had been picked out. Min You looked over the leftovers with clear disdain.
“Su Su, why don’t you borrow one of my cousin’s horses? He’s got several Lambeau thoroughbreds. I’ve never been into equestrian stuff, otherwise I’d have raised more myself.”
Su Ci politely declined, but before she could finish, a cheerful voice rang out nearby.
“Why not ride mine?”
Nan Muxi led the chestnut toward them, flashing a dazzling smile and waving enthusiastically.
“Oh hey, senpai! You’re here too! We met yesterday, remember?”
Min You immediately stiffened.
“Nan Muxi? Since when do you feel like showing up to school?”
“Ouch, that’s harsh. I’ll have you know I’m diligent, curious, and totally committed to self-improvement! In fact, I’m not just here today—I’ll be here every day from now on. How about that?”
Before Min You could fire back, Nan Muxi turned to Su Ci with an expectant grin, holding out the reins.
“Wanna give it a try, senpai? My horse is the best in the whole stable.”
The group nearby—those who had snagged good horses and were hoping to impress—were collectively heartbroken.
What was going on with Young Master Nan?
Wasn’t he crazy protective of his horses? Didn’t he kick people for just touching them?
With him setting the bar this high, none of them dared risk embarrassing themselves. They dispersed, frustrated and silent.
He’d just been with another girl moments ago, and now he was already chasing someone new?
A violent, impulsive flirt—how was a guy like that even qualified to pursue someone like Su Ci?
The boy was undeniably handsome. Su Ci remembered him—he’d helped carry her stack of secondhand books to class just yesterday.
“Thanks, but I’m not very skilled in horseback riding. I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to handle it. I’ll just use a regular one…”
Before she could finish, Nan Muxi gave the chestnut a firm pat on the head and released the reins. The horse immediately trotted over to Su Ci, lowered its head, and nuzzled her palm.
Min You was visibly stunned.
“Wow. So your horses can behave. That’s a first.”
Nan Muxi smirked.
“Told you mine are the best in the entire stable. Come on, senpai, give it a go~”
Su Ci subtly stepped back, dodging the chestnut’s affection. Just as she was trying to figure out how to gently turn down the overly eager young master, a cold voice cut in behind her.
“Best in the stable? That’s a stretch.”
Nan Muxi turned around, annoyed.
“Unbelievable! Seriously, Chu—would it kill you to not undermine me for one day? You know where your horse came from, don’t pretend.”
His dad had practically gifted all their best-bred horses to the Chu family to curry favor.
Chu Junling ignored the jab, maintaining a calm, collected demeanor as he gently addressed Su Ci.
“What’s in my hands belongs to me.”
“And in the future, it can be yours too, senpai.”
Nan Muxi scratched at his wild, red bird’s-nest of hair, suddenly realizing something.
“Wait a minute—you’re not…?”
His dad was trying to steal his girl now? Was he nuts?
Did no one respect the unspoken rule about not touching your brother’s girl?
Chu Junling smoothly stepped in, edging Nan Muxi aside to stand at Su Ci’s left. Lowering his thick lashes, he spoke in a voice dripping with innocence.
“Senpai, he insulted me.”
Nan Muxi looked stunned.
“Chu Junling, what the hell are you on today?”
Was this even his friend anymore?
Same face, same body—but every word and action felt like a total stranger.
“I’m not on anything.”
Chu Junling’s lashes fluttered slightly, his eyes filled with hurt, like he’d said—someone who was always unwelcome.
“Senpai, he’s slandering me. I’m not the sick one—he is. You can ask Min You if you don’t believe me. He has severe bipolar disorder.”
Nan Muxi: “You little—!”
Seriously? Was this guy addicted to playing the victim?
Chu Junling didn’t let up.
“Of course patients say they’re not sick. Senpai, we shouldn’t associate with foul-mouthed, uncultured types.”
He handed her the reins and tried to link arms with her—but she smoothly avoided it.
“…Senpai? Are you avoiding me? I just wanted to personally teach you how to handle the horse.”
Su Ci glanced at his innocent smile.
“Sorry. You’re not allowed to touch me. Verbal guidance only, okay? I know a little—just not very skilled.”
Chu Junling: “…”
His gaze dropped to her hand holding the reins, a flicker of frustration flashing in his eyes.
“You weren’t like this this morning.”
Back then, she’d let him hold her ankle, sit her in his lap, even shared her breakfast with him.
Nan Muxi couldn’t help but gloat.
“Oh yeah, right. Us ‘mentally ill’ folks wouldn’t stoop to playing both sides—first meeting and already grabbing a girl’s hand? Disgusting!”
“Min You? Hello? Back me up here?”
Min You heard nothing. Min You was dead to the world. Min You was urgently calling her cousin.
Damn it. Where the hell was he today of all days? He never skipped class. If he didn’t show up soon, Su Su was going to be stolen right out from under their noses!
