- Chapter 223 - The Fake Sugar Daddy Who Fell for a Background Actor at First Sight (18) Husband Material, Predator Soul
Just to be safe, Jiang Yu deleted the call log the moment he hung up. While he was at it, he also removed his half-brother from his contacts.
The doorbell rang once.
Jiang Yu turned down the heat, dropped his phone, and dashed to the door with the eagerness of Pavlov’s dog.
Su Ci had left in a hurry and forgotten her keys in the car. Since Jiang Yu was home, she didn’t bother going back for them—but she hadn’t expected to see this when the door opened.
The man stood there in a soft, pale knit sweater. The V-neck revealed a hint of smooth, fair skin on his chest.
Over it, he wore a light blue apron that hugged his slender waist. His casual pants clung to his long, well-shaped legs, and an anklet jingled softly from his left ankle as he walked.
Every step chimed with the faint ring of a bell.
A perfect mix of husband material… and dangerously seductive.
Jiang Yu quickly took the cake and flowers from her hands, leaned down, and kissed her on the forehead. A warm smile lit up his face, eyes filled with delight and devotion.
“You’re spoiling me like this? My hardworking princess.”
He wrapped her in his arms and led her toward the living room. The savory scent of home-cooked food wafted in from the kitchen, surprising Su Ci.
“You can cook?”
Back when they were always together, neither of them had time to cook. They usually dined at upscale restaurants with strict privacy.
Standing behind the couch, Jiang Yu began massaging her shoulders, a low chuckle rumbling from his chest.
“Just learned. If I made my sugar mommy come home to cold leftovers, she’d probably toss me aside pretty quick. And I really can’t bear to lose such delicious… soft rice.”
As he spoke, he couldn’t resist leaning down and kissing her hair, her ear, the side of her face.
His lips gently sucked at her skin like he was savoring the taste of “soft rice” itself—warm, addictive, and impossible to put down.
Fast learners really were scary. When the table was finally filled with an array of colorful, aromatic dishes, Su Ci suddenly understood the joy of rich people raising canaries.
Someone who offered constant emotional value, catered to your every need, clung to you affectionately… like a little pet waiting eagerly at the door.
Jiang Yu had no real appetite.
Or rather, his appetite wasn’t for anything on the dinner table.
Throughout the meal, he barely touched his food—too focused on serving Su Ci, refilling her plate and bowl with care.
Su Ci looked at him, puzzled.
“For a first attempt, this is pretty impressive. I think it tastes great. Are you just not used to home-cooked meals? Want to eat out instead…”
Jiang Yu finally took a few bites, a soft smile tugging at his lips.
“No need to go out. I just like watching you eat, Princess. You’re prettier than any dish. Just looking at you fills me up.”
After dinner, Jiang Yu cleaned the dishes, then spent a while adjusting the roses and arranging the little cake—snapping dozens of photos from different angles.
“Princess should try it first.”
He sat beside Su Ci with the plate in hand, scooped up a bite with a spoon, and held it to her lips. As he leaned in, he caught a glimpse of her scrolling through travel guides, and his heart melted.
“Weren’t you busy with work? What’s this for? Don’t tell me I’ve got the potential to be your eye-candy getaway boyfriend?”
“Mm. Thought we could go somewhere to clear our heads.”
Su Ci had cleared her schedule.
Even though Jiang Yu didn’t say anything outright, she could tell—he wasn’t as confident as before. Like a stray pup with nowhere to go, his words carried an undercurrent of anxiety.
The real Jiang Yu would never say something like “getting tossed aside.”
Today, he was clearly trying hard to please her.
And giving your pampered canary a little reward now and then was only fair, as any responsible sugar mommy would know.
In truth, Jiang Yu did feel guilty.
Though he hid it well, a flicker of internal struggle passed through his eyes. Moments later, he casually pulled her into his arms again and resumed feeding her cake and fruit, doing his best to stay devoted and attentive.
When his gaze landed on the bit of cream at the corner of her lips, his pupils darkened.
Then he dipped his head and licked the sweetness away with the tip of his tongue.
“Princess, you’re so good to me. How can I ever repay you?”
Su Ci handed him her phone.
“Then you plan the trip. Pick where we go and what we do.”
Jiang Yu took the phone, immediately turned off airplane mode, and tossed it onto the far end of the couch.
“We’ll talk about that later. First, let’s finish this cake.”
Su Ci had already eaten too much at dinner. After a few bites, she was too full to continue and shook her head apologetically.
Jiang Yu lifted her into his arms, his Adam’s apple bobbing deeply.
“Princess is full—but I haven’t eaten yet.”
His slender fingers dipped into the cream and smeared it across her soft, pale skin.
“Will you feed me, Princess? Waste is a sin… I promise I’ll eat every last drop.”
He kissed her between coaxing words, making her defenses crumble.
In the blur of it all, faint drips could be heard pattering onto the marble floor from the table above.
It wasn’t just Su Ci’s lashes and eyes that were wet—so were Jiang Yu’s lips and chin.
He couldn’t stop kissing her. Even the anklet bell jingled wildly with every movement.
“Crying so much… Princess, are you a little fountain?”
…
Late at night, just back from a dinner event, Pei Jibai received a very unexpected friend request.
Jiang Yu.
【Pei Jibai: When did you delete me?】
【Jiang Yu: Slipped by accident. Sorry.】
【Pei Jibai: …】
They had added each other on WeChat back in college. With shared interests and strong ties between their families, they’d stayed connected for business ever since.
Of all times to delete him, Jiang Yu had chosen now, right after being exposed as a fake heir. It was hard to believe it wasn’t intentional.
Just as Pei Jibai was about to ask what that meant, two photos came through—both stamped with watermarks.
One was a vibrant bouquet of roses.
The other was a delicate swan-shaped cake.
【Jiang Yu: Not many friends left in my contacts. I got gifts, had to share the joy with someone, right? My dear half-brother.】
【Pei Jibai: …Do you know how tired I am from working two jobs? Can you not send me stuff like this?】
Strictly speaking, it was more like two and a half jobs. On top of his work, he was also keeping an eye on entertainment gossip for Jiang Yu.
【Jiang Yu: Then rest up. You need your strength to help take care of the company for our parents. My wife’s taking me on vacation, so I’m counting on you to hold down the fort.】
【Jiang Yu: [screenshot of flight tickets]】
【Jiang Yu: You know I can’t say no.】
【Pei Jibai: Thanks a lot.】(!)
【Jiang Yu has enabled friend verification. You are not currently friends. Please send a request and wait for approval to chat.】
Pei Jibai stared.
“…Did I break some cosmic law?”
…
Su Ci took Jiang Yu on vacation, giving Ke Hua and both her assistants paid time off.
Although Ji Huan Entertainment was still under the Jiang Group, Jiang Yu no longer worked there, and the manager didn’t dare make things hard for Su Ci. The moment she requested leave, it was approved.
No one wanted to upset the cash cow.
Everyone assumed the mysterious real heir would try to crush Jiang Yu—and take down Su Ci with him.
But days passed… and nothing happened.
Instead, it was Su Ci’s fans who started losing it.
【Why isn’t our queen working? Is the evil company shelving her?!】
【Who else is suffering? It’s been half a month since Jiang Zong left, and we haven’t seen one photo of her!】
【Should we crowdfund and help Jiang Zong start a new agency? I fully support him backing our girl—life without Su Ci is unlivable!】
【Back when Jiang Zong was still powerful, she had new promos all the time. Now I’m rewatching old dramas and still starving for content!】
【Who’s suppressing my queen? Show yourself—I dare you! Fall, you wicked thing!】
Accused without warning, the Jiang Group’s stock value dropped several points. Pei Jibai was swamped trying to put out fires, delaying his own investigations.
Suppression? What suppression?
Between the Jiang parents, the Pei parents, and Pei Jibai himself, the resources they were giving Su Ci could cover filming for a whole year.
The real issue? Jiang Yu had blocked him.
Pei couldn’t just jump online and out the couple’s relationship either.
So he grit his teeth and took the heat alone.
Luckily, leopards don’t change their spots.
On day eighteen of Su Ci’s social media silence, Jiang Yu finally cracked—and the fox’s tail peeked out. He secretly posted a nine-photo grid on Weibo.
【@JiangYu: Full-time fansite admin reporting for duty. Wife is drop-dead gorgeous as always. Want to plaster her beauty all over the web.】
Pei Jibai: “…”
So that’s why he came to him to delete the trending tags last time. Trying to keep up the act, huh?
Did he really think his pretend-fansite persona was convincing?
Who the hell wears matching couple outfits as a fansite admin?
Nobody believed that. Nobody.
He said it himself—he was the lip gloss bead.
