- Chapter 90 - Bonus Chapter – A Gift
Su Ci thought for a moment and decided it was only fair to give Bo Qi’an a taste of his own medicine.
“Hand over your surveillance system. Also, I want cameras installed in your company car, your office, and even the bathroom. I’ll be doing random checks.”
Bo Qi’an had braced himself for some punishment that would leave him devastated.
Maybe she’d ban him from sleeping beside her for ten days or half a month.
Maybe she’d force him to go back to work for six months straight.
Maybe he’d lose his sweet morning kisses…
But this?
Just installing a few cameras?
And his wife would even peek in on him from time to time?
He loved it.
This kind of punishment felt like a honey drop wrapped in a harsh shell—sickeningly sweet, addictive, and impossible to resist.
Of course, that didn’t mean he’d intentionally mess up again just to get punished. He wouldn’t dare do anything to make his wife angry, not even a little.
“Okay, I’ll have my assistant take care of it now. In a couple of hours, you’ll be able to monitor me from every angle, no blind spots.”
Speaking of surveillance, Bo Qi’an got a little nervous she might be worried about privacy leaks, so he quickly hugged her and explained:
“The system and software were developed by my own team. I’m the only one with the access key and viewing permissions. No one else can spy on you—I swear, don’t be scared, baby…”
Given his level of possessiveness and wariness, Su Ci knew he’d never make a rookie mistake like that.
She didn’t really want the surveillance system for safety. What worried her was the toll it would take—staring at screens in a dark room for hours on end wasn’t good for the eyes, the body, or the mind.
Especially when she was just a few walls away.
Why hide in a study and spy when she could be right there?
With that thought, Su Ci gently kneaded the tight muscles on his handsome face, smoothing out his frown until his expression finally softened. Then she spoke in a warm voice to ease his heavy mood.
“You’ve been under a lot of pressure lately, haven’t you? If you don’t feel like going into the office, don’t go. Work from home. Wouldn’t it feel better if I stayed with you?”
Bo Qi’an was stunned silent.
He was used to pushing himself hard—studying, working, never slowing down.
These days, hiding in his study made him feel like he was slacking off, guilty to his core.
But no matter how he tried, his gaze couldn’t tear away from her.
Even his assistant and the chief secretary had noticed something was off. The once relentless, ultra-efficient President Bo was suddenly sluggish. For once, they could breathe.
Seeing him so dazed, Su Ci assumed he was just too tired. Her voice dropped to a gentle murmur, coaxing him softly.
“Bo Qi’an, give yourself a break, hmm? No one’s going to outpace you in just a few days. Let’s call it our honeymoon. Just you and me, alright?”
“Alright. I’ll spend all my time with you.”
Bo Qi’an finally snapped back to reality. He answered without hesitation, then, overcome with emotion, buried his face in the crook of her neck to hide the thick lump rising in his throat.
“I’m sorry, baby… I didn’t even give you a proper wedding. I just went ahead and registered our marriage without asking. I’m not a good man.”
Back then, he’d misunderstood her relationship with Lu Jinyan. He was afraid if they had a ceremony, no one would bless them. Worse, it might drag her reputation through the mud.
But even now, he still didn’t want a wedding.
He didn’t want anyone else seeing her in a wedding gown—pure, radiant, untouchable.
Even now, hidden away in a closet in the villa, he had secretly stashed over a hundred wedding dresses.
As for Su Ci, she didn’t really care about the ceremony. Whether a relationship was sincere or not—only the two involved truly knew.
What mattered was finding what fit them best, not following every trend or chasing some ideal of romance.
“It’s alright. The time we save from planning a wedding—we can use that to do other things. Just the two of us.”
That finally calmed Bo Qi’an a little.
He carefully scooped her up in his arms and carried her toward the dressing room connected to the master bedroom.
It was his fault, after all. He’d been too greedy earlier and smudged her makeup.
That night, the auction event was actually an international charity gala.
To put it simply, all proceeds would be donated to underdeveloped regions and nonprofit organizations to support infrastructure and economic growth.
For the billionaires attending, it was a win-win: they got to strut down the red carpet, earn good press for themselves and their companies, and still look generous while doing it.
To make a splash at the event, Cen Leyi had thrown a tantrum for days just to get Cen Zhixi to hand over a brand-new custom gown.
She knew both Bo Qi’an and Gu Beichen would be attending tonight.
Everyone already knew about her sleeping with Gu Beichen—it was public scandal by now. And the fact that he, as a man, had done nothing in response? That had chilled her to the bone.
Tonight, she had to steal the spotlight.
She would make Gu Beichen regret everything. Then she’d fall into Bo Qi’an’s arms—and make Gu Beichen her side piece.
He was the one who betrayed her first, after all. With another woman.
Hmph. Just wait.
Cen Zhixi, Gu Beichen, that snobby mother of his, and even her own parents—she wouldn’t let any of them off the hook.
As she walked the red carpet arm-in-arm with her mother, Cen Leyi held her head high with an air of arrogance, expecting compliments from both media and guests.
“Isn’t that the fake heiress who climbed into bed with someone?”
“She’s really not much to look at. No wonder the Gu family turned her down.”
“She gave herself to the guy and still lost out—slept with her sister’s man and even made a show of it. What trash.”
“Wait, is that gown a knock-off? The real one doesn’t have stitching like that around the hem. Oh my god, this is huge!”
The insults cut deep.
Cen Leyi’s nails dug into her palms as she trembled with rage, barely able to stay upright.
A knock-off?!
That bitch Cen Zhixi had tricked her again!
Even Madam Cen, usually the picture of grace and poise, couldn’t hide her displeasure. If she’d known this would happen, she would’ve entered with Zhixi instead.
Cen Leyi wanted nothing more than to storm over and slap those gossiping reporters across the face. But then, out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a tall, familiar figure striding toward the venue.
Gu Beichen, stepping out of his modest black Cayenne.
A car barely worth 2 million—it looked plain, almost cheap. Totally beneath someone of his status.
Still, she fixed her expression and poised herself at the route he had to pass. But he walked right by her. As if she didn’t exist.
That was the last straw.
Cen Leyi nearly exploded on the spot.
How could he just ignore her while the whole world mocked her like this?
Was he deaf?! Did he not hear what they were saying?!
How could he stand by and watch with that blank, indifferent face?
If Bo Qi’an were by her side—like in her past life—would anyone dare humiliate her? They’d be lucky to escape with their eyeballs intact just for looking at her too long.
Fine. If Gu Beichen wanted to play heartless, then she’d show him ruthless.
Madam Cen had already entered with the usher, but Cen Leyi stayed at the end of the carpet, standing tall, hoping that a certain man would make his dramatic entrance.
“Oh my god. G-G-Gorgeous!”
“No way! That’s the Angel’s Wing from R—straight from the new line. There hasn’t even been an official announcement yet! I only heard about it from an insider!”
“Is she a model? She must be! That gown looks like it was made for her. I must be drunk to dream of a real-life angel like this!”
“So stunning. I’m calling it now—we’re using her for the next magazine cover.”
Cen Leyi followed the gasps and turned to look.
A man and a woman were approaching arm-in-arm. Both wore masks, mysterious and eye-catching. From what little she could see of their faces, they were definitely attractive—and the air of mystery only made them more tantalizing.
The girl, especially, was too beautiful. Cen Leyi couldn’t stop herself from stealing a few extra glances. Her evaluation, though quiet, was sharp.
A custom couture gown? So what. Once I see Bo Qi’an, I’ll have access to things a thousand times more luxurious. All I have to do is ask.
