- Chapter 373 - Good Intentions.
Pei Cao said, “Mayor Li, there’s a saying: ‘Leave a way out for others, and you’ll have a chance to meet them again.’ Why don’t you understand this principle? Even a cornered rabbit will bite. If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for being too aggressive and leaving no way out.”
The woman sneered, “After all the unspeakable wrongs you’ve committed, you’re blaming me for not giving you a way out? How laughable.”
Deng Zuo’s face flushed with embarrassment from the ridicule, and he was about to erupt in anger.
Before he could, Pei Cao stepped in, “Mayor Li, there are many people who’ve done wrong, not just the two of us.”
The woman coldly scanned the two men and spat out two words, “Scum!”
Those two words immediately ignited their anger.
Deng Zuo said, “You filthy bitch, how dare you insult me? I’m going to show you my power right now.”
As he spoke, he moved forward, intending to tear at the woman’s clothes.
The woman resisted, but she was weak and could not stop Deng Zuo.
Xu Xiuwen, having watched the scene for a while, felt he couldn’t just sit idly by and cleared his throat a couple of times.
The sudden sound of coughing startled all three in the room.
Deng Zuo and Pei Cao quickly turned to look behind them.
At the entrance of the private room stood a young man wearing a mask.
Seeing someone appear, the woman’s face instantly showed relief and hope.
Deng Zuo, glaring at the mysterious young man, shouted, “Who let you in? Get out!”
Pei Cao, more composed, did not immediately reprimand Xu Xiuwen. Instead, he calmly said, “Young man, this is our private room. Please leave quickly and don’t interrupt our important discussion.”
The woman, realizing what was happening, was about to call for help.
But Pei Cao seemed to anticipate her reaction and preemptively covered her mouth with his hand.
He pressed hard enough to leave marks on her face.
He was trying to cover up the situation in this manner.
However, Xu Xiuwen was not easily deceived.
He suddenly smiled, “I’ll give you 10 seconds. If you don’t leave right away, I’m calling the police.”
As he spoke, he took out his phone and smiled at the two men.
Deng Zuo and Pei Cao’s hearts sank at these words.
They realized that their plans for today were doomed.
But to just give up?
The thought of the woman’s retaliation later made them shiver.
Xu Xiuwen ignored them completely and began the countdown.
“10… 9… 8… 7… 6… 5… 4… 3…”
The two men did not react.
Not until Xu Xiuwen reached 3 did they glare at him in anger and leave reluctantly.
Before leaving, Pei Cao took a hard look at Xu Xiuwen, as if trying to memorize his appearance.
Once the two men had left, Xu Xiuwen walked slowly to the woman and asked with concern, “Are you alright?”
The woman braced herself on the table and managed to stand up, though she was a bit unsteady, looking as if she might fall at any moment.
Before Xu Xiuwen could ask further, the woman ordered, “Take me home!”
Xu Xiuwen, taken aback by the woman’s commanding tone, asked, “Aren’t you going to call the police?”
The woman immediately shook her head, “No, we can’t call the police!”
Xu Xiuwen found the woman’s behavior very strange.
Just a moment ago, the two men had clearly intended to take advantage of her while she was drunk and seemed to even plan on filming a video.
But the woman didn’t seem inclined to call the police, which was odd.
However, Xu Xiuwen then recalled that the two men had repeatedly mentioned “Mayor Li.”
He looked down again at the woman’s current attire.
She was wearing a black top under a white blazer, with the blazer open enough to reveal her ample figure.
It was like two small mountains, catching one’s eye.
She wore a pair of black cropped trousers, hiding most of her beauty, but her long, slender legs were evident.
Her thighs were full but not fat, and her calves were smooth and slim.
She was in black short-heeled shoes and flesh-toned stockings, which glistened slightly under the light of the private room, drawing more attention.
The woman’s outfit and the aura she exuded resembled that of a public official.
Then, the woman ordered, “Take me home!”
Xu Xiuwen was taken aback and reflexively said, “I’ll take you home?”
“Hurry up!” the woman urged.
Xu Xiuwen was speechless.
“I don’t even know where you live, and I’m just helping out. You don’t need to be like this. I can help you call the police.”
The woman was impatient.
She glared at Xu Xiuwen, her face flushed, and said, “I can’t hold on much longer. Take me home now.”
As she moved forward, her current state couldn’t support her.
She suddenly wobbled and fell to the floor.
Xu Xiuwen, unable to ignore her, instinctively reached out and supported her.
The woman clung to him, and Xu Xiuwen reciprocated, holding the mature woman.
Her eyes were closed, her nose flaring, and her face was excessively red.
After a few seconds, Xu Xiuwen sighed.
Since he had chosen to help, he would see it through.
He helped her out of the private room.
Just as they were about to leave the restaurant, they were stopped by the staff.
It turned out that the bill hadn’t been paid yet.
Xu Xiuwen was even more speechless.
He looked at the woman and didn’t see a wallet on her.
So, he ended up paying the bill and helped the woman out of the restaurant.
Xu Xiuwen intended to put the woman in his car and drive her home, but considering he had also drunk quite a bit, he decided against it.
He went to the curb and hailed a taxi.
When the car stopped, Xu Xiuwen opened the rear door and helped the woman into the car.
He planned to leave immediately, but the woman clung tightly to his arm and wouldn’t let go.
Xu Xiuwen tried to pull his arm away but couldn’t.
The taxi driver then urged, “Your girlfriend is drunk. You should get in and take her home. Don’t waste time.”
Xu Xiuwen was both amused and exasperated.
He wanted to ask the driver how he could tell the woman was his girlfriend, considering she seemed to be in her thirties and he looked like a young man.
But he just thought about it and didn’t actually ask the driver.
Seeing that he couldn’t free his arm, he reluctantly got into the car.
“Where to?” Xu Xiuwen thought, “How would I know?”
Before he could speak, the woman announced an address.
After hearing the address, the driver silently started the car.
Xu Xiuwen couldn’t tell whether the woman was drunk or not.
If she was drunk, how could she accurately give her address?
If she wasn’t drunk, why was she clinging to him so tightly?
Since getting into the car, her behavior had become increasingly excessive.
She kept pressing closer into Xu Xiuwen’s embrace.
Her warm breath was constantly hitting his neck.
She was like a seductive serpent, wrapping herself around him.
Xu Xiuwen felt very uncomfortable.
Especially after noticing the driver’s occasional glances, his discomfort grew.
Finally, the car reached the address the woman had given.
Xu Xiuwen hurriedly paid the fare and got out.
Once outside, the woman could barely stand, her body slumped against Xu Xiuwen.
She was completely limp, mumbling incoherent words.
Xu Xiuwen shook his head to clear his mind.
“Which building is yours?”
At his question, the woman opened her eyes, looked around, and said, “Building 1, Apartment 801.”
After she spoke, she let her head droop again.
Xu Xiuwen helped the woman find her apartment.
Standing in front of her door, he knocked, but there was no response, and no one came to open it.
Given her age, she should have a husband and kids.
Were they all not home?
Xu Xiuwen couldn’t afford to think about it.
His attention turned back to the woman beside him.
He hesitated for a moment, then started to search her for the keys.
He didn’t find any keys but did notice that her body was unusually warm.
The friction between his hand and her body seemed to activate something.
She clung to him even more tightly.
Xu Xiuwen was practically at his wit’s end.
Just then, he noticed an uneven spot on the doormat at his feet.
He quickly kicked the mat aside.
Sure enough.
Underneath the mat was a door key.
Xu Xiuwen bent down, picked up the key, and quickly unlocked the door, helping the woman inside.
The woman’s home was a three-bedroom apartment.
Xu Xiuwen didn’t look around but quickly assessed the layout and guided the woman towards the bedroom.
Arriving at the bedroom door, he found it closed.
He gently turned the doorknob, and the door opened.
He turned on the light and entered the master bedroom.
The room was very clean, with only a single pillow on the bed.
Xu Xiuwen immediately guessed that she probably didn’t have a husband.
Maybe she wasn’t married?
He didn’t dwell on it and helped the woman to the bed, laying her down.
She continued to cling to him, reluctant to let go.
Xu Xiuwen had to exert some effort to get her to lie down.
After doing this, Xu Xiuwen felt a bit tired and thirsty.
He glanced at the woman on the bed and said, “I brought you home, is it too much to ask for a glass of water?”
With that, he turned and left the master bedroom, heading to the kitchen to get a drink.
Upon reaching the kitchen, Xu Xiuwen was taken aback.
The sink was filled with unwashed dishes, the oil stains dried on them.
The trash can on the kitchen floor was overflowing with leftover garbage.
Xu Xiuwen poured himself a glass of water.
After drinking it down in a few large gulps, he left the kitchen and stood in the living room.
The living room had a strangely cold atmosphere, lacking in the warmth of everyday life, making it feel uncomfortable.
Xu Xiuwen guessed that the woman was either unmarried or divorced, now living alone.
Xu Xiuwen prepared to leave, but before doing so, he planned to speak with the woman and check on her condition.
He didn’t want to leave and then have her suffer some accident.
He intended to help, but he didn’t want to end up in trouble.
Xu Xiuwen walked back to the master bedroom.
He approached the bed and looked down at the woman.
The woman was lying quietly on the bed, seemingly asleep.
Seeing her sleeping peacefully, Xu Xiuwen felt reassured.
He spoke softly, “I’ve brought you home. I’ll be leaving now if you’re alright.”
The woman didn’t respond.
Seeing this, Xu Xiuwen bent down to tuck the blanket around her and then leave.
But just as he bent down to cover her, the woman suddenly opened her eyes.
She wrapped her arms around his neck.
Xu Xiuwen was stunned.
His gaze met hers.
There seemed to be a flame burning in her eyes.
He came to his senses and said, “Let go. I need to go.”
The woman looked at him and said with slightly parted lips, “Don’t leave!”
When she said this, Xu Xiuwen felt that she was sober.
But after saying it, she seemed to drift back into her previous state.
Her hands tightened around his neck, and her body twisted restlessly on the bed.
Xu Xiuwen sensed something was wrong with her state.
It wasn’t just simple drunkenness.
He reached out to touch her forehead, which was very hot.
Xu Xiuwen hesitated and then forcefully pried her hands off him before turning and walking into the master bathroom.
Upon entering the bathroom, the first thing Xu Xiuwen noticed was a pair of black lace panties hanging on the wall rack.
The woman gave off a mature and composed vibe.
He hadn’t expected her to wear such sexy lingerie.
Xu Xiuwen didn’t look any longer.
He grabbed a towel, dampened it with water, and returned to the master bedroom.
He carefully wiped her feverish, flushed face, neck, and forehead, speaking in a soothing tone to calm her down.
But this didn’t seem to help much.
The woman’s movements grew more intense and erratic.
Xu Xiuwen watched the unfamiliar woman on the bed, her face red and twisting.
A sudden thought occurred to him.
He quickly said, “You should be okay now, right? My girlfriend is still waiting at home. I’ll leave first.”
As he had been sitting on the bed while wiping her face, he was just about to get up.
The woman suddenly seemed to regain clarity, sitting up and hugging him from behind.
Her hands reached around his chest from under his arms and began to stroke him.
Even through his clothes, it made Xu Xiuwen’s heart race.
She then said, “Don’t leave. You can’t leave.”
Xu Xiuwen replied, “I have to go!”
Her hands suddenly stopped but she still clung tightly to him.
“Didn’t you already guess?”
“What?” Xu Xiuwen pretended not to understand.
The woman no longer pretended and admitted, “They must have drugged me.”
“What drug?” Xu Xiuwen continued to act clueless.
The woman grew impatient, “It’s that kind of drug that makes people horny.”
Xu Xiuwen feigned realization, “Then I’ll take you to the hospital!”
The woman immediately refused.
“No, I can’t go to the hospital. It would be disastrous if anyone found out.”
Xu Xiuwen turned to look at the woman, both amused and exasperated. “Then I’m out of options. Why won’t you let me leave?”
The woman looked at him with open eyes.
She didn’t say anything, but her gaze spoke volumes.
“Help me!” the woman pleaded softly.
The woman’s eyes conveyed a mix of humility and pleading.
Xu Xiuwen felt a pang of sympathy.
He was someone who found it hard to be harsh with women and was easily soft-hearted.
He sighed.
If he hadn’t stepped in tonight, maybe none of this would have happened, but he might regret it later.
Now that he had already helped, he found himself deeper and deeper in the situation, to the point where it felt almost impossible to back out.
