Rebirth: Daily Face Slaps - Chapter 228
Lin Mengting blinked, her long lashes hiding the sly look in her eyes. “Do you want to keep eating like this?”
“Yes,” Sun Weiqi replied reluctantly.
This completely went against his initial plan of pampering Lin Mengting until she couldn’t bear to leave him.
Lin Mengting scratched her chin with a troubled expression. “But you’re always stationed at the base. You might not come home even once a year.”
Sun Weiqi stayed silent.
The solution was simple. She just needed to agree to marry him and live with him on the base.
Unfortunately, the reality was far from ideal.
Lin Mengting suddenly had an idea, her eyes lighting up. “How about I teach you to cook? That way, you can eat your favorite meals anytime.”
Sun Weiqi felt a wave of frustration. If he had known this would happen, he wouldn’t have stayed silent earlier. Now that things had reached this point, what else could he do?
“Alright,” he agreed, feeling a shiver run down his spine.
Lin Mengting seemed oblivious to his internal struggle and happily dragged him into the kitchen. “No time like the present. Let’s start today.”
Sun Weiqi lowered his gaze, looking at her soft, white hand holding his arm. Unable to resist the temptation, he flipped his arm and held her hand, enjoying the sensation.
Lin Mengting opened the fridge and casually asked, “Do you prefer something light or spicy?”
“Anything is fine. I’m not picky,” Sun Weiqi emphasized, earning a bright smile from Lin Mengting.
“For lunch, let’s have poached fish, Mapo tofu, fish-flavored pork, eggplant casserole, steamed ribs, twice-cooked pork, stir-fried potato shreds, and garlic water spinach.”
Sun Weiqi’s mouth twitched. “Isn’t that too much?”
“No way!” Lin Mengting looked surprised. “Aren’t soldiers supposed to have big appetites? I’m worried this might not be enough.”
“Who told you soldiers have big appetites?” Sun Weiqi said, amused. “Even though our training is intense, we don’t just stuff ourselves.”
“Aren’t you used to eating at the big cafeteria on base?” Lin Mengting dismissed his objections. Having grown up with a soldier father, she knew soldiers well.
“I couldn’t stand the cafeteria food when I was a student,” she said, grimacing at the memory.
Cafeteria food was often bland and unappetizing, nothing like home-cooked meals.
“Don’t worry. If we can’t finish it all, we can reheat it for dinner,” Lin Mengting said, her eyes twinkling. She was confident that Sun Weiqi’s first attempt at cooking would result in only a few edible dishes.
If Sun Weiqi knew what she was thinking, he would have proven her wrong with his cooking skills.
Soldiers, especially those in special forces, were trained to handle all sorts of tasks with ease.
Cooking would be a breeze.
The sounds of chopping and sizzling filled the kitchen, accompanied by Lin Mengting’s occasional exclamations. “Wow, you’ve never cooked before? Your knife skills are amazing!”
“This tastes incredible! A perfect score!”
“The presentation is as good as a five-star chef’s. If I had half your skills, I’d never worry about meal planning again.”
Sun Weiqi, usually calm and collected, couldn’t help but feel proud. “I’ll cook for you every day from now on.”
Back at the base, he planned to learn more recipes from the chefs, determined to impress Lin Mengting with a variety of dishes.
They say the way to a woman’s heart is through her stomach, and he was ready to win Lin Mengting over with his cooking.
“Great,” Lin Mengting said, her eyes narrowing with satisfaction.
The first step in her “New Age Husband Training Plan” was a success.
With the idea that mutual effort was key to shaping a man, Lin Mengting added, “That means I can focus on making pastries and desserts to send to you at the base.”
Sun Weiqi paused, his smile faltering. He wasn’t a fan of sweets, which he considered to be for women and children.
“Making those takes a lot of time. You don’t need to go through so much trouble. You can just buy them,” he suggested.
“That’s not the same!” Lin Mengting said, noticing his hidden reluctance. The mischievous part of her wanted to tease him even more.
Store-bought items might taste good, but who knew what chemicals were added? Homemade was always cleaner and healthier.
Even if the media didn’t report many issues with food safety, she was cautious. The thought of feeding Sun Weiqi anything less than perfect was unacceptable.
She couldn’t be sure that the pastries she bought were from reputable sources, so she preferred to make them herself.
