- Chapter 9: I could tell you weren’t human with just one look!
With the earlier incident fresh in their minds, everyone naturally put more effort into their cleaning.
Even the rebellious disciple from earlier, who was collapsed on the ground for nearly an hour, eventually got up, picked up a broom, and began sweeping obediently.
Seeing this, Song Yin nodded in approval—his earlier show of force had clearly made an impression, and the results were quite good.
As the disciples diligently cleaned the grounds, Song Yin didn’t remain idle. He picked up a broom and joined in.
“Senior Brother, you shouldn’t trouble yourself with this kind of work.”
Zhang Feixuan rolled his eyes and ran to him to please him.
“We junior brothers can handle it.”
Song Yin shook his head. “If the junior brothers are working, how could the senior brother stand by and do nothing? Cultivating the Dao isn’t just about refining qi and seeking immortality—it’s also about cultivating the way of the heart. If you only know how to refine qi and look for immortality then what’s the difference between you and a mere puppet?
“Senior brother, you are absolutely right. You’ve only been in the sect for a day and have already gained such profound insights. I am far behind you. If I had the same aura of the Great Dao as you, I might also be able to contribute to the path of cultivation,” Zhang Feixuan said, testing the waters.
“The aura of the Great Dao? You want to learn it?” Song Yin chuckled and glanced at Zhang Feixuan.
Zhang Feixuan bowed his head and cupped his hands, “I wouldn’t dare, I’m just curious.”
That strange white aura was truly eye-catching. If he could somehow coax it out and learn it, it might have some wonderful uses.
As soon as he said this, the surrounding disciples also perked up their ears and subtly moved a bit closer to Song Yin.
Song Yin looked Zhang Feixuan up and down and shook his head, “Your aptitude is not enough. If you were to reach the innate realm before beginning your qi refining, you might have a chance to develop the aura of the Great Dao like I did, it’s only a chance. In my case, I can comprehend the aura of Great Dao while still being in the Innate realm, because I have the potential of a great immortal. After reaching the flawless true body, it has many wonderful uses.”
“Great, another thing I don’t understand,”
Zhang Feixuan could only smile awkwardly. “Senior brother, your talent is truly exceptional.”
Song Yin shook his head again and looked at the others. “You all lack skill in your practice, and now you want to learn? Haven’t you mastered the Golden Immortal Grand Pill Sutra?”
With his sharp perception, he immediately saw through their intentions.
“Senior brother, you see clearly. Master has only ever taught us orally and never allowed us to see the manuals. You have the manuals in hand, but we don’t. If you could…” Zhang Feixuan started to entertain an idea.
He wasn’t lying. Most of them joined the Golden Immortal Sect because they were drawn to the Human Pill Technique, but master simply wouldn’t teach them.
Aside from Zhao Yuanhua, who knew the technique, the others knew nothing beyond some basic mind-bewitching techniques, which were only useful for going down the mountain to find people for making human pills.
To put it bluntly, they were just there to gather materials for the human pills. But now things were different. The manuals were in this person’s hands, and it seemed he hadn’t yet realized the true nature of their sect. If they could deceive him properly…
“Yes, senior brother, the master doesn’t teach us. Why don’t you show us instead?”
“Exactly! I’ve been in the sect for a year, diligently practicing, but I still haven’t been able to solidify my essence. I want to learn the true methods too.”
The fellow disciples chimed in one after another.
“Oh?”
Song Yin glanced at the ground and asked, “Master really hasn’t taught you? Then what do you all know?”
“Mind-bewitching techniques.”
“Refine herbal pills, herb gathering,” the fellow disciples responded, one after another.
“Just the basics, hmm.” Song Yin stroked his chin and pondered.
Seeing that Song Yin was still silent, Zhang Feixuan said, “Senior brother, if it is not convenient, just let me take a look at the human pill method.”
As the second disciple, Zhang Feixuan naturally knew more than the average disciple.
Aside from the human pill method, he knew a bit of everything.
His most outstanding skill was the method of collecting blood to replenish qi. When he went down the mountain to search for human pills, he would also seek out fresh blood from young girls. After years of this practice, he had finally reached his current level.
But he was still missing the most crucial parts: the method for refining the grand pill and the human pill method. If he could learn them, it wouldn’t matter whether he stayed in this sect or not.
Anyway, with this weirdo around, he was planning to leave. If he knew the Human Pill Method, he could go anywhere under the heavens.
“Human pill method?”
Song Yin thought about it and looked at Zhang Feixuan strangely, “Do you want to refine yourself?”
“Refine myself?” Zhang Feixuan didn’t know what he meant but nodded quickly.
“Yes, I’d like to try it.”
“You all want to as well?” Song Yin turned to the other disciples.
The others nodded even faster.
Song Yin nodded and said, “Very well, I’ll ask the master and see if he can pass on the method to you. For now, get back to work.”
“Thank you, senior brother!” Zhang Feixuan was overjoyed.
This person’s actions were strange, and he seemed to have some issues in his head. But if Zhang Feixuan could really obtain the human pill method from this guy he could afford to stay a bit longer.
After all, fortune favors the bold! The other disciples had similar thoughts and worked even harder.
As Song Yin continued sweeping for a while, he suddenly thought of something and looked toward the center of the square. He frowned as he stared at the corpse in the pit.
“Before I joined the sect, how did you all deal with such heretics?” Song Yin asked.
Deal with them? Zhang Feixuan, who followed closely behind him, blinked. Naturally, they would exchange ideas in a friendly manner with their fellow taoist.
“Senior brother, I can handle this heretic. You don’t need to trouble yourself,” Zhang Feixuan put down the broom, went to the pit to carry Zhao Yuanhua’s body, and walked to a secluded corner.
Disposing of a body was simple—just toss it down the cliff.
“Foul heretic, prepare to die!”
*Shing!*
With a sharp, clear sound, accompanied by the rush of footsteps, a streak of brilliant light appeared before Zhang Feixuan in an instant.
*Slap!*
The light instantly pierced through Zhao Yuanhua’s corpse, creating a small hole in it. As the body fell, Zhang Feixuan quickly appeared not far away.
In front of him, a blur of green appeared.
Without giving Zhang Feixuan any time to react, the green figure moved swiftly with a streak of clear light as it rushed toward him.
Zhang Feixuan’s vision blurred, and he saw that the green shadow before him was unusually large and the flesh on its body rolled as it moved.
“A serpent demon?!”
Startled, he extended one hand forward, faintly emanating a bloody aura.
The clear light quickly approached and suddenly lunged toward Zhang Feixuan’s face.
Zhang Feixuan smirked sinisterly, and just as the blood aura in his hand was about to intensify, a wisp of white mist appeared in front of him.
The presence of the white mist caused the blood aura on his hand to vanish instantly.
*Crack!*
The sound of shattering fragments filled the air.
Several pieces of glowing steel fell to the ground as Song Yin appeared in front of Zhang Feixuan, his brows furrowed as he stared intently at the person holding a sword hilt that was stabbing into him.
This was no serpent demon—but the fat woman in green clothes from earlier.
“It’s you!” the woman in green exclaimed.
“Miss?”
Song Yin said in a steady voice, “Since you’re awake, why did you attack my junior brother?”
He looked behind her and saw a dozen or so people dressed in hemp clothing—ordinary folks without any signs of energy or magical power—huddled together, looking fearful.
Seeing her sword shattered in her hand, the woman in green’s pupils contracted. She quickly withdrew from Song Yin’s side and shouted, “Shut up! You wicked demons are to be exterminated by all!”
Song Yin frowned and replied, “Miss, we’ve met once before. I was the one who saved you from those evil cultivators. My Golden Immortal Sect is a righteous sect, not some wicked cult.”
“Bah!”
The woman in green spat out a thick glob of phlegm. “Do you think I’m a three-year-old child you can easily deceive? Your sect is the best at bewitching people. You only saved me earlier to make me drop my guard, so you could lust after my magnificent body!”
She even twisted her plump and oversized body around and her eyes which were squinted into slits from the fat, showed clear disdain. “I know all about your wicked ways. Once you’ve had your fill of me and corrupted my heart, you’ll take my life! Your Golden Immortal Sect is notorious for refining people alive into pills!”
She then turned to the people behind her and said, “Don’t be afraid, everyone. Once I slay these evildoers, you can come with me and serve my sect instead!”
It’s over!
Zhang Feixuan, still confused about what was happening, felt as if he had fallen into an icy pit upon hearing these words.
He hasn’t even got the human pill method yet, and now they were about to be exposed?
Given this murderer’s temperament, once the truth comes out, the entire sect could be wiped out!
Song Yin’s expression turned displeased. “I understand you’ve been wronged, Miss, but why are you biting at us indiscriminately without distinguishing right from wrong?”
A glint of white light flashed in Song Yin’s eyes as he scrutinized the woman in green carefully. Suddenly, his pupils contracted, and his previously calm face darkened.
*Boom!*
He took a step forward, and with a loud *crack*, the bluestone slab beneath his foot shattered into pieces as white mist burst out around him.
“Hiss!”
Behind him, Zhang Feixuan grimaced in pain. He felt like his entire body was on fire, and immediately retreated.
*Snap!*
Song Yin moved swiftly to face the woman in green. His tiger-like eyes glared fiercely as he reached out and struck her throat, producing a crisp snap.
The woman in green spat out a mouthful of blood from her throat. Before she could react, Song Yin grabbed her by the neck and lifted her into the air.
“So, that’s why you attacked so suddenly and dared to slander my Golden Immortal Sect as a wicked sect—it turns out you’re a witch!”
Song Yin’s hair flew wildly and his face filled with rage as he shouted at the woman in green, “I could tell you weren’t human with just one look!”
The formatting is a bit weird. Will fix it from chapter 11.
