Six Ring Wizard - Chapter 288
Chapter 288: Contribution Points
Wendy’s words were filled with understanding and respect, making Helag feel quite comfortable.
At this point, no matter what Wendy said, Helag would simply agree, nodding and saying, “Yes, yes, of course.”
After all, this was someone who had casually transferred 100,000 magic stones to him.
A true wealthy woman—no, a top-tier wealthy woman.
To put it in perspective, when the Terchy family had given Helag 100,000 magic stones, it hadn’t been easy. The family had made a significant decision and placed a big bet on him.
But with Wendy, all it took was a casual joke, and she had sent him 100,000 magic stones without hesitation.
Helag still felt a bit dizzy, unable to believe it was real.
“Mrs. Wendy, you’re far too kind. From now on, I’ll personally handle the maintenance and repair of your family’s wizard arrays. As long as I’m alive, your arrays are my responsibility,” Helag declared.
He had just taken on the job of maintaining Wendy’s wizard arrays, planning to visit regularly for upkeep.
Helag did a quick calculation. If he earned 300 magic stones per maintenance job, it would take him over 300 years to make 100,000 magic stones.
Wendy laughed when she saw his message. “Alright, then I’ll leave it to you. If anything goes wrong, I’ll be coming for you.”
“No problem. Don’t worry, I’m a first-level wizard array master,” Helag replied confidently.
After finishing his conversation with Wendy, Helag arrived home.
“You’re back! Everything went okay, right?” Reese had been waiting for Helag and immediately rushed to greet him as he stepped off the carriage.
She knew Helag had been dealing with an incident involving Abyssal cultists, and she had been worried.
To her, the Abyss Plane was powerful and mysterious, something to be feared.
“It’s fine. I was just there to earn some contribution points, nothing dangerous,” Helag reassured her, wrapping his arm around her waist as they walked inside.
“I’m glad you’re okay,” Reese said, feeling relieved after seeing that Helag was in good spirits.
“Oh, by the way, we’re rich now,” Helag said with a grin.
“Rich? What do you mean?” Reese asked, confused.
They weren’t exactly poor—they had tens of thousands of magic stones, more than enough for their current needs.
Helag told her about the 100,000 magic stones Wendy had given him.
He expected Reese to be happy, but instead, she gave him a sideways glance. “I think that rich widow has her eye on you…”
“How could that be? You’re overthinking it,” Helag replied, exasperated.
Reese giggled. “I’m just teasing. I wouldn’t mind if you had one or two more women, as long as you don’t forget about me.”
Since coming to the Land of Dawn, Reese had felt out of place compared to the other wizards. Aside from her beauty, she didn’t have much to offer, which made her feel insecure.
Helag hugged her and comforted her. “Don’t worry about that. My strength is your strength. I won’t abandon you, or Asna, or anyone else. I’m going to start focusing on earning contribution points for Seranthiel soon.”
“Contribution point missions are probably dangerous, right?” Reese asked, concerned.
Helag thought for a moment. “There should be some safer ones. There are many types of missions. Of course, the ones with higher contribution points will likely involve some risk. But nothing in life is completely without danger. I’ll be careful.”
“If you need my help, make sure to ask me,” Reese insisted.
Helag nodded. “I will, don’t worry.”

Late at night, after an intense session, Helag pulled out his magic stone and began browsing the mission hall, looking for suitable tasks.
Contribution points could only be earned through official Seranthiel missions, with a few exceptions.
There were two types of official Seranthiel missions: those open to everyone and those exclusive to Seranthiel members.
For the open missions, Seranthiel members would receive additional contribution point rewards.
The member-exclusive missions usually involved sensitive information and were only available to those within the organization.
Helag skimmed through the list of available missions. There were plenty of options from Seranthiel, covering all sorts of tasks.
“Patrol the southeastern border of Silvermoon City for one month. Reward: 30 contribution points.”
Helag frowned. “Border patrol?”
This mission was only available to Seranthiel members because it involved the city’s defense, something that couldn’t be entrusted to outsiders.
Helag did the math. Thirty points for a month of work—about one point per day.
If he wanted to accumulate 3,000 contribution points, he’d have to patrol the border for over eight years.
That didn’t seem like a long time, considering wizards often lived for hundreds of years. Eight years was nothing.
On the surface, the border patrol mission seemed simple—just patrolling.
But this was the Land of Dawn.
Outside Silvermoon City lay vast polluted areas, and the patrols took place beyond the city walls.
In addition to spending long periods in polluted zones, patrols had to be on guard for sudden attacks and strange occurrences.
In the Land of Dawn, such incidents were uncommon but not rare.
They happened frequently enough that something similar occurred somewhere in the region almost every day.
A single mistake could mean never returning from the polluted zone.
And retrieving bodies was difficult. If you died outside the city, your remains would undergo special treatment and wouldn’t be buried like ordinary people.
So, while the border patrol mission seemed simple, it was actually highly dangerous.
The one-month duration was relatively short because no one wanted to take on a longer mission.
The longer you stayed outside, the higher the risk.
Relying on this mission to earn 3,000 contribution points over eight years wasn’t realistic. You’d likely die before reaching that goal.
After reading through the tavern forum’s discussions about the border patrol mission, Helag decided to pass on it.
In his opinion, the mission wasn’t worth the risk.
It was too dependent on luck. If you were unlucky, the risks far outweighed the rewards.
Even if you were lucky, it was still only 30 points for a month’s work.
Helag glanced at his 50 contribution points and suddenly felt like they had come too easily.
He owed Pruis a big favor for this.
After thinking it over, Helag searched for missions related to potion-making and wizard arrays.
If he could earn contribution points through those types of tasks, it would be ideal, as they were his areas of expertise.
