Six Ring Wizard - Chapter 300
Chapter 300: The Gift
Helag wasn’t in a rush. He patiently waited at the gate while the young man went inside to report.
Not long after, a middle-aged man with graying hair hurried out—it was the Mori family’s butler, Blank.
Blank smiled when he saw Helag. “Mr. Helag, we meet again.”
“Hello, Mr. Blank. You’re looking well,” Helag replied.
The two were already acquainted from a previous meeting, and there was no animosity between them.
“I’m doing alright. I hear you’re here to investigate something related to Abyssal cultists. Could you tell me more about the situation?” Blank asked.
Helag explained, “Recently, we uncovered an Abyssal cultist case involving a woodcarver named Max. You may have heard of him. We’ve received information that Miss Amisha once received a wooden sculpture as a gift, and it was one of Max’s works.”
“We need to collect all the wooden sculptures made by Max, so I’m here to investigate and ask a few questions.”
Blank thought for a moment and nodded. “I see. Please follow me, Mr. Helag. Miss Amisha is at home.”
Helag followed Blank into the expansive Mori family estate.
The estate was bustling with people, but it was easy to tell each person’s status with just a glance.
As the butler, Blank commanded respect—every servant they passed bowed to him.
After about ten minutes of walking, they stopped outside a courtyard.
Helag couldn’t help but think that anyone unfamiliar with the Mori family estate could easily get lost.
“Please wait here, Mr. Helag. I’ll inform Miss Amisha,” Blank said softly.
“Thank you, Mr. Blank,” Helag replied.
Blank nodded and entered the courtyard behind him.
This courtyard had a different style from the rest of the estate. The outer area was a garden, and inside stood a three-story villa.
Shortly after Blank entered, Helag heard light, quick footsteps from within.
Looking up, he saw Amisha running out in a gold dress. She adjusted a strand of hair behind her ear and slowed her pace when she saw Helag.
“Helag, you came to see me?” Amisha hadn’t even heard what Blank had said. The moment she heard Helag’s name, she ran out immediately.
Ever since Helag had stopped responding to her messages, Amisha had felt quite disappointed. But she hadn’t reached out to him again, afraid of being a bother.
Now, suddenly learning that Helag had come to see her, Amisha was both surprised and delighted.
“Miss Amisha, did you receive a wooden sculpture made by Max?” Helag asked directly.
Amisha was momentarily confused. “A wooden sculpture?”
She hadn’t expected this question, and it didn’t align with what she had imagined.
Helag nodded. “Yes, according to our records, you received a birthday gift last year. That gift was a wooden sculpture, and it was made by Max, who is an Abyssal cultist. Miss Amisha, do you know where the sculpture is now?”
It took Amisha a moment to process this information. Realizing that Helag was here on official business and not to see her personally, she felt a bit disheartened.
Seeing Helag’s serious expression and hearing that this involved Abyssal cultists, she understood that the matter was urgent.
The most important thing now was to cooperate with Helag and resolve the issue. Anything else could wait.
Amisha thought carefully. “A wooden sculpture… let me think…”
Every year on her birthday, Amisha received many gifts from various people—suitors, elders, friends, and business associates of her family.
With so many gifts, how could she possibly remember who gave her what?
Many of the gifts she received hadn’t even been opened yet, so she had no idea what was inside.
“Which birthday was it?” Amisha asked, unable to recall anything related to a wooden sculpture.
Helag glanced at the parchment in his hand and confirmed, “It was a gift you received last year.”
Amisha thought for a moment and then called out, “Blank, where did we store my birthday gifts from last year?”
“They should be in the western storeroom, Miss,” Blank replied with a bow.
The group made their way to a large building on the western side of the estate. It was clearly a storeroom, judging by its appearance.
Blank fetched the key and unlocked the storeroom.
Normally, outsiders wouldn’t be allowed inside.
But since Helag was here on official business for Seranthiel, even the Mori family had to cooperate.
Once the door was open, Helag stepped inside and saw that the storeroom was packed with items.
There was a bit of everything, and some of it even looked like merchandise.
Helag scanned the room and noticed that some of the crates were filled with rare medicinal herbs.
These would be considered treasures outside, but here they were piled up like ordinary goods—just another sign of the Mori family’s wealth.
“Which area contains Miss Amisha’s birthday gifts?” Helag asked.
Searching the entire storeroom would be a waste of time.
Blanc thought for a moment and said, “I’ll ask the servant in charge of the storeroom. I’m not sure of the exact location myself.”
As the butler, Blank had many responsibilities and didn’t know where Amisha’s birthday gifts were stored.
After a short while, a servant in charge of the storeroom entered. “Butler, Miss.”
Blank glanced at him and asked, “Muse, where are Miss Amisha’s birthday gifts from last year stored?”
A strange look briefly flashed in Muse’s eyes, but no one noticed it except for Helag.
“They should be over there,” Muse said after thinking for a moment, pointing to the northeast corner.
“Lead us there,” Blank instructed.
“Of course,” Muse nodded and led the way.
Everyone followed, but Helag’s expression grew a bit suspicious.
He glanced at Muse, as if something was on his mind.
“Are these Miss Amisha’s birthday gifts from last year?” Helag asked, looking at the pile of gifts stacked like a small mountain.
“Yes, sir,” Muse replied. Although he didn’t know who Helag was, it was clear that he held an important position—otherwise, Blank wouldn’t have brought him here, and Amisha wouldn’t be accompanying him.
In front of Helag were various gift boxes of different sizes and wrappings, piled up on the floor like a small hill.
