Six Ring Wizard - Chapter 306
Chapter 306: Wizard Tools
Before every battle, Helag had to cast a variety of enhancement spells, which took quite a bit of time.
If he encountered a sudden situation and didn’t have enough time to cast all his spells, he wouldn’t be able to fight at full strength.
In such cases, Helag could find himself in danger, especially since most of the people he encountered in the Land of Dawn were formal wizards, with many second-level wizards among them.
In this environment, Helag often didn’t have the luxury of time to cast all his enhancement spells.
His plan was to have Deep Blue design a comprehensive enhancement spell, similar to Absolute Defense, to save time.
After purchasing Life Bud, Immovable Stone, and Water Skin, Helag decided not to buy any more spells for now.
Buying too many different types of spells at once would seem suspicious.
For most wizards, learning a single spell took a lot of time. If Helag bought a bunch of spells at once, it would look like he was stocking up on supplies.
He still had plenty of time, so there was no need to rush and buy too many spells in one go.
After exiting the spell menu, Helag checked out the potions and potion materials.
The potion section contained a mix of first-level and a few second-level potions, all of which were rare and difficult to brew.
The potion materials were similarly rare and precious, difficult to find outside the vault.
Ordinary potion materials weren’t available here, as they didn’t qualify to be in the vault.
It seemed that common potions and materials didn’t belong in the vault and didn’t need to be.
“Unicorn Horn: First-level potion material.”
“Exchange Requirements: 10 Contribution Points.”
Helag noticed that many of the potion materials required almost no magic stones, with most needing contribution points for exchange.
It was clear that the vault wasn’t designed to make money from magic stones but rather to provide Seranthiel members with a way to access resources.
With only 300 contribution points in his history, Helag could only browse a limited selection of potions and materials.
He would need to accumulate more points to unlock higher-tier potions and materials.
Since he didn’t need any potion materials at the moment, Helag decided not to exchange for any.
He exited the menu and looked at the other categories.
“Wizard Tools…”
Helag thought for a moment. He didn’t have any wizard tools yet, so it wouldn’t hurt to prepare one or two if he found something suitable.
When he opened the wizard tools menu, a list of various tools appeared.
“Scapegoat Doll: First-level wizard tool. Once bound to its owner, it will take the hit for you if your body or soul is struck by a life-threatening attack. One-time use.”
“Exchange Requirements: 200 Contribution Points.”
Helag’s eyes lit up—this was a valuable item.
Alice noticed Helag’s interest in the Scapegoat Doll and commented, “For a low-level wizard like you, this is indeed a good choice.”
“Miss Alice, I have a question. How does the Scapegoat Doll determine when to activate? Does it trigger whenever I’m hit by a certain level of attack, or only when the attack would be fatal?”
Helag wanted to clarify this. If it triggered with any strong attack, it would be less useful. But if it only activated when the attack was life-threatening, it would be much more valuable.
Alice explained, “Once bound to you, the Scapegoat Doll will automatically assess the situation. If it determines that the attack would bring you close to death, it will take the hit for you.”
“Thank you for the clarification, Miss Alice,” Helag said gratefully.
With that, Helag decided the Scapegoat Doll was a must-have.
Having it would greatly increase his margin for error in battle, giving him a chance to survive unexpected situations.
However, the cost was steep—200 contribution points.
For veteran members of Seranthiel, 200 points might not be much, but for Helag, who only had a little over 300 points, it was a significant expense.
He thought about it and decided to keep browsing before making a final decision.
With his limited contribution points, he wanted to see if there were any other valuable items before committing.
“Lava Amulet: First-level wizard tool. Increases the strength and casting speed of fire spells while providing high fire resistance.”
“Exchange Requirements: 100 Contribution Points.”
Helag glanced at the amulet and quickly skipped over it. It was more suited for fire-specialized wizards, and he didn’t need it.
After absorbing the power of dragon blood, Helag already had high fire resistance, so the Lava Amulet was unnecessary for him.
As he continued scrolling, Helag came across something familiar.
“Cursed Doll: First-level wizard tool. Allows the user to curse a target using their blood. The effects of the curse vary depending on the target’s strength.”
“Exchange Requirements: 120 Contribution Points.”
Helag recognized the Cursed Doll as a tool made from the Vengeful Doll, an item he had encountered in Count Huenn’s treasury, which had led to an unpleasant experience.
However, that experience had also granted him the Great Dark Heaven spell, so it had been worth it in the end.
Helag hadn’t studied many curse spells, as curses were generally dependent on the relative strength of the caster and the target.
The greater the difference in strength, the more effective the curse.
A minor curse might just cause bad luck, but a stronger curse could lead to fatal consequences.
Since Helag didn’t need the Cursed Doll at the moment, he continued browsing.
The vault had a wide variety of wizard tools, each with unique and strange functions.
One item that caught Helag’s eye was a bow called Oath of Love.
“Oath of Love: Special first-level wizard tool. When the bowstring is drawn and the arrow is fired at a target, if both the user and the target are truly in love, they will share their lives. As long as one lives, the other will not die. However, if they are not truly in love, both will die when the arrow strikes.”
“Exchange Requirements: 1,500 Contribution Points.”
This was the most expensive wizard tool Helag could access in the vault, and its effect was incredibly unique.
Helag couldn’t help but feel that the Oath of Love was an overwhelmingly powerful tool.
