Chapter 320: Meditation Chamber
The act of dumping the body in the sewer near City Hall seemed quite strange.
“Could it be a gesture of sincerity or a provocation?” Pruis suggested through the communication stone.
“Sincerity? You mean from the Abyssal cultists?” Helag pondered.
“Exactly. Although we don’t know why they did it, it seems only the Abyssal cultists would do such a thing. They killed Diglan and left his body near City Hall for us to find.”
“It seems like they’re trying to send us a message, but we’re not sure why. It could also be a form of provocation,” Pruis explained.
The situation with Diglan was almost forgotten; Pruis and his team had little hope of finding him.
Many similar cases existed where people vanished into Silvermoon City’s corners, never to be found.
These individuals would be forgotten over time, as Silvermoon City had many issues to handle daily.
With limited manpower, not every old case could be solved.
No one had the resources or energy to tackle them all.
So, normally, Diglan’s fellow Abyssal cultists wouldn’t need to kill him; they could have just hidden for a while.
Pruis was unsure, but Helag had a theory.
He thought it might be related to his recent investigation in the Mozambi slums.
While controlling the crow over the slums, someone noticed him and observed him.
Helag speculated that those in the slums thought Seranthiel was investigating Diglan.
With recent Abyssal cultist activity centered around Diglan, if he was hiding there, the cultists might have thought Seranthiel was closing in on him.
They didn’t want conflict with Seranthiel, so they killed Diglan and delivered his body.
It was both a gesture of goodwill and a challenge.
The message from the Mozambi slums was clear: “Here’s your man, now leave us alone.”
Helag connected the dots and understood the situation.
He realized the Mozambi slums were more complicated than they seemed and resolved to be cautious.
“By the way, your contribution points have been calculated—ten points. Not bad,” Pruis added.
Catching Alda, a minor figure, wasn’t worth much.
The ten points were for identifying Diglan as an Abyssal cultist.
Helag had no complaints; ten points were better than nothing. Now he had a total of one hundred points, which was still something.
Helag asked, “Mr. Pruis, does Seranthiel have places like the Augustus Academy, where meditation can be accelerated?”
Aware of potential dangers, Helag needed to strengthen himself quickly.
For a wizard, meditation was the most straightforward way to grow stronger.
Advancing in rank naturally increased power.
As a liquefied wizard, Helag needed to meditate consistently to reach the crystallized stage.
At his current pace, reaching the crystallized stage could take a long time.
Helag considered ways to speed up his meditation.
Reaching the crystallized stage would qualify him for second-level wizard status.
Becoming a second-level wizard would greatly enhance his survival in the Land of Dawn.
To accelerate meditation, Helag thought of developing potions to boost his meditation speed.
He also recalled Lilian mentioning small planes where meditation was faster.
Lilian had said every wizard organization had such places.
“Small planes? Yes, but access is restricted. You need at least a thousand contribution points and approval. It’s tough for you to get in. But you can use the wizard towers to speed up meditation,” Pruis suggested.
Helag’s lack of seniority meant that even with a thousand points, approval to enter a small plane was unlikely.
Small planes were vital to wizard organizations and not open to everyone.
As a newcomer, Helag wouldn’t be allowed entry.
But Pruis mentioned another option: the wizard towers.
Helag realized he’d overlooked them.
Wizard towers were everywhere in Silvermoon City, often unnoticed due to their ubiquity.
Each tower protected its area from the spread of polluted zones.
Their commonality made them easy to ignore.
Helag had thought of them only as city defenses.
But Pruis reminded him that wizard towers aided in meditation.
“Every tower in Silvermoon City has a meditation chamber, where meditation is two to three times faster. It’s costly and requires identity verification, but Seranthiel members have no issues,” Pruis explained.
“Thank you, Mr. Pruis.”
Grateful, Helag researched the wizard tower meditation chambers.
The chambers indeed accelerated meditation due to energy well designs, with higher energy particle concentrations than outside.
However, they were expensive, costing one hundred magic stones per hour.
Helag was stunned by the price; no wonder few mentioned it.
Eight hours a day would cost eight hundred stones, eight thousand for ten days, and eighty thousand for a hundred days.
Helag had about fifteen thousand stones, enough for less than two hundred days of meditation.
This assumed no other expenses, no food or drink.
Helag decided he needed to visit the wizard towers but planned his time carefully.
He also needed to develop meditation-enhancing potions to maximize his time.
