Chapter 432: Spoils of War
Seeing the horrors within Malcolm’s spatial ring, Helag wondered how Malcolm managed such atrocities in the Land of Dawn.
After a moment’s thought, he recalled Malcolm’s mentor, the third-level wizard Fran.
By killing Malcolm, Helag had inevitably provoked this powerful wizard.
Realizing the threat, Helag planned to return to Seranthiel’s territory immediately after leaving World X-617.
Many had seen Malcolm and Helag enter Black Space together; Malcolm’s failure to return would implicate Helag in his death.
If Helag lingered in the neutral Central Region, Fran might confront him, making escape difficult.
Beyond the gruesome contents, Helag found a black sphere in the ring, the magical tool Malcolm used to isolate him for a duel, only to be defeated.
In this space, teleportation rings were useless, as it was a separate dimension without a link to the wizard plane.
Examining the Black Space tool, Helag learned its third-tier functions through magic input.
He could exit or enter the space at will, and even designate targets to draw in.
Without special means or second-level wizardry, most first-level wizards couldn’t resist its pull.
However, the tool lacked offensive capabilities; the user had to handle those inside.
Permanently trapping someone was impractical, as maintaining others inside rapidly drained magic.
Without frequent magic input, occupants would soon be expelled, demanding high magic reserves.
As a high-tier tool, Black Space required significant energy.
Helag realized Malcolm’s magic reserves were immense, sustaining Black Space while fighting him.
“This is…”
Helag discovered a thick parchment, revealing a spell called Blood Skin.
Malcolm’s notes detailed its development, with formulas and experiments.
Blood Skin greatly enhanced a wizard’s speed, strength, and constitution, offering formidable combat prowess.
Initially intrigued, Helag abandoned the idea of learning it.
Creating Blood Skin required copious human flesh, souls, and resentment—a heinous spell.
Attempting such magic in the Land of Dawn was suicidal; Helag lacked a third-level wizard’s protection.
Moreover, Helag had principles, unwilling to commit such acts.
Though powerful, Blood Skin paled compared to his Power of the Titan, lacking value.
Besides Blood Skin, Malcolm’s spells were all abnormal, none worth learning.
Helag considered burning the notes but decided to keep them.
He wouldn’t let the spells spread, as others might misuse them.
Releasing them could lead to disasters.
Helag retained them to study Malcolm’s ideas and methods.
Malcolm was undeniably a genius, but his talents were misused.
Besides Black Space, Helag found another third-tier tool: a black umbrella.
The umbrella, named Fallen Wing, was crafted from a powerful being’s feather from another plane.
Fallen Wing, a supercharged Wildfire Tent, created a living space visible to the outside.
With it, Helag could create a space on walls, rocks, or trees, opening Fallen Wing’s realm.
Unlike Black Space, Fallen Wing allowed observation of surroundings, hidden in another dimension.
Black Space obscured the outside, unsuitable for outdoor living, while Fallen Wing served as Malcolm’s wilderness shelter.
Helag also found a second-tier tool, a small straw doll.
“Curse Doll: After obtaining a target’s blood or tissue, it curses them with misfortune for 24 hours, causing deadly accidents.”
Helag noted its curse varied by target.
Weaker targets faced fatal accidents, while first or second-level wizards encountered minor troubles.
Helag deemed it seemingly trivial but potentially useful if applied cleverly.
He stored the Curse Doll, continuing to inventory Malcolm’s ring.
Helag found eight first-tier tools, both functional and combat-oriented.
Malcolm had outgrown them, leaving them unused.
Helag collected them, finding no excess in such tools.
Beyond tools, Helag gathered valuable potion and casting materials.
These materials were highly valuable, whether for personal use or sale.
With his spatial ring now crowded, Helag felt his fortunes swell, like a horse thriving on rich pasture.
Unfortunately, there were few magic stones, only about 15,000 scattered ones; most were likely banked, beyond Helag’s reach.
With Malcolm dead, his communication stone was unusable by others, preventing transactions.
