Chapter 438: Tessa
Tessa was in a disheveled state, her clothes torn, looking utterly distressed.
The five dog-headed creatures chasing her were large but surprisingly agile.
Their muscles bulged, exuding strength, as they panted heavily, eyes fixed on Tessa like predators on prey.
Tessa, severely injured, struggled to stabilize her chaotic magic aura, finally managing to conjure a fiery shield around her.
Just as the shield formed, a massive spiked club was hurled at her, shattering the shield upon impact.
Though a first-level crystallized wizard, Tessa’s shield barely withstood the attack, highlighting the club’s immense power.
The impact sent Tessa flying, but she scrambled up, terrified, and continued running.
While fleeing, she gathered magic to form a large fireball, launching it at the pursuing creatures.
One dodged, but the next was hit directly by the fireball.
The creature fell but quickly rose, growling and speaking in a language Helag didn’t understand.
The fireball seemed to cause minimal harm, only scorching its chest without significant injury.
Helag frowned, noting that Tessa’s fireball had little effect on the creatures.
Their resilience was remarkable, shrugging off a direct hit and continuing the chase.
Observing them, Helag noted their exceptional speed, strength, and constitution, surpassing ordinary first-level wizards.
Most wizards focused on spellcraft, unlike Helag, who emphasized physical strength.
Comparing himself, Helag felt confident in handling them with his Power of the Titan form.
Deciding to intervene, Helag quickened his pace toward Tessa.
His goal wasn’t to save her but to gather information.
Tessa’s presence suggested Medel might also be here.
Finding Tessa, Helag aimed to locate Medel and eliminate him, preventing future threats.
As Helag advanced swiftly, he monitored the situation.
Over a kilometer away, he feared he might not reach in time.
Tessa, heavily injured, couldn’t run fast, relying on magic to blink away.
Her injuries left her magic unstable and nearly depleted, limiting her blinks.
Several times, she narrowly avoided attacks, her movements faltering.
Her magic nearly exhausted, Tessa’s spatial ring was missing, preventing potion use for recovery.
Hearing a rush of wind behind her, Tessa sensed danger, attempting to dodge.
But she found herself too weak, realizing her body was at its limit.
Her magic depleted, her stamina was nearly gone.
Since arriving here, Tessa had faced multiple attacks, fleeing in desperation.
Feeling her legs weaken, Tessa sensed death approaching.
A moment later, a heavy blow struck her head, sending her flying.
Through blurred vision, Tessa saw a towering figure approaching before darkness claimed her.
“Still too late…”
Helag saw a dog-headed creature wielding a large club, striking Tessa’s head.
Her skull caved in, and she tumbled to the ground, dying as she glanced at Helag.
Helag sighed, “Couldn’t you hold on a bit longer…”
He’d rushed as fast as possible but still arrived too late.
Now, he had no chance to question her.
The creature that killed Tessa approached her body, tearing off her broken arm.
It began devouring the fresh flesh, seemingly starving.
After a few bites, it noticed Helag.
Alert, it grabbed its club, eyeing Helag warily.
The other four creatures arrived, glaring at Helag with hostility.
Helag’s imposing form and aura intimidated them, preventing an immediate attack.
He focused, enlarging the Storm Giant Shield on his left arm.
The five creatures exchanged glances, then charged at Helag in unison.
A massive club swung at Helag’s head, but he stood taller, resembling a child attacking an adult.
Helag moved his left arm, blocking the club with the Storm Giant Shield.
Magic surged around him as he flashed behind the last creature.
The creatures, confused, couldn’t see where Helag had gone.
Seizing the moment, Helag drew a sword from his spatial ring, stabbing the creature’s neck.
Blood sprayed as the creature collapsed, its life force drained.
The ground soaked up the blood, staining the earth red.
The remaining creatures tightened their grip on their weapons, recognizing Helag’s strength.
Helag noticed a large sword by his feet, the fallen creature’s weapon.
He picked it up, finding it a perfect fit.
His usual sword felt small for his current form, but the large sword’s length, width, and weight were ideal.
