Chapter 457: Slaying Medel
Since absorbing the white deer’s bloodline, Helag had gained the innate ability to manipulate spatial rules.
This, in turn, gave him a small amount of spatial rule power, allowing him to resist the suppression of the world’s will to some extent.
After obtaining the white deer’s bloodline, Helag also discovered that he could activate a sliver of the Thunder God Ancestor’s bloodline power.
Although it wasn’t much, it provided a noticeable boost to his strength, speed, and other physical attributes.
The summoned knight clearly had protective abilities, appearing at the critical moment to block what would have been a fatal blow to Medel.
While the knight summons were devastating against skeletons, they were no match for Helag’s raw power.
With just one punch, the knight summon couldn’t withstand the force and dissipated.
Seeing the knight vanish, Helag remarked, “A projection, huh? The real body must be incredibly strong.”
Summons generally came in two forms: either the actual entity was summoned, or only a projection of the entity appeared.
If the summoned being was too powerful, only a projection would be summoned.
These projections lacked physical substance and only possessed a fraction of the original’s strength.
After defeating the knight, Helag sensed something and vanished.
A moment later, a spear thrust through the space where he had been standing. Another knight summon had arrived.
At the same time, a bolt of lightning descended from the sky, striking Helag.
The lightning hit the Absolute Defense shield, and Helag felt nothing. He glanced at Medel and smiled.
Even if the lightning had struck him directly, it wouldn’t have done much damage.
It seemed Medel was a lightning-specialized wizard. If Medel fell into Helag’s hands, he was in for a world of pain.
The knight summon, following Medel’s orders, charged at Helag, while Medel used the opportunity to flee toward the sanctuary.
For Medel, reaching the sanctuary meant safety—at least temporarily.
But Helag wasn’t going to give him that chance. Drawing his long sword, he decapitated the knight summon with a single stroke.
No blood spurted from the fallen knight; its body was empty, filled with nothing but void.
After dispatching the knight, Helag used spatial teleportation again, instantly catching up to the fleeing Medel.
Medel, seeing Helag disappear again, instinctively threw a lightning orb behind him.
Helag slipped through space, reappearing in front of Medel.
Medel, realizing Helag had vanished, began to turn around, only to find himself flying through the air.
In his final moments, he saw his headless body collapse to the ground before his consciousness faded into darkness.
Helag had anticipated Medel’s movements, waiting ahead with his long sword.
With a swift swing, he decapitated Medel.
Thanks to his ability to manipulate spatial rules, Helag’s combat prowess far exceeded that of a crystallized wizard like Medel.
The ability to use rule power marked a fundamental difference in life forms.
Only rule power could counter rule power.
It was like when Helag had been trapped in that cage, powerless to escape, with no solutions at hand.
After killing Medel, Helag immediately summoned the Necromancer’s Sword and obliterated Medel’s soul.
Once the soul was dealt with, Helag picked up Medel’s spatial ring and quickly cleaned up the scene.
He thoroughly destroyed Medel’s body, leaving nothing behind but ashes.
Helag doubted that the Taylor family could trace Medel’s death back to him, especially in a different plane like this.
After finishing up, Helag turned his attention to the horned demon’s head.
The demon’s soul flame flickered, and just as it was about to beg for mercy, Helag smashed it with a single punch.
A wisp of black mist rose, and Helag absorbed it into his body.
“Strength +0.2, Agility +0.3, Constitution +0.3, Spirit +1.0.”
After absorbing the black mist, Helag noticed that the increase in his physical stats was minimal.
However, unlike other demons, the horned demon had also boosted his spirit by one point.
At this stage, increasing his spirit was no easy feat, so even a single point was significant.
With the horned demon dead, the skeletons it had summoned collapsed, leaving piles of bones scattered across the ground.
Helag stepped over the bones and made his way into the valley.
There, he found the third-tier magical array: the Sanctuary.
Helag examined it but quickly realized he couldn’t take it with him.
The Sanctuary had identity recognition features, meaning only Medel could access or deactivate the array.
Helag considered trying to break it, but the array was far too advanced for him.
A third-tier magical array was beyond his current understanding.
He attempted to have Deep Blue analyze and break the array. “Deep Blue, try to analyze and break the Sanctuary.”
“Lacking necessary information. Insufficient data. Unable to proceed with the break.”
As expected, even Deep Blue couldn’t break the array.
Second-tier magical arrays already involved rule-based power, and third-tier arrays were even more complex and obscure.
Without the relevant knowledge, Helag had no way to dismantle the array.
Faced with the massive third-tier array, Helag could do nothing but stare at it.
It was a stark reminder that knowledge was power, and he still had much to learn.
After giving up on the Sanctuary, Helag pulled out Medel’s spatial ring.
The ring had a unique design, featuring a red gemstone set in a curved band.
The curves formed letters, and after examining them, Helag realized they spelled out Medel’s name.
This was a personalized spatial ring.
When Helag tried to access the ring, he found it locked.
The ring was protected by a first-tier magical array, requiring Medel’s magical aura to unlock it.
Fortunately, the array was only first-tier, and Deep Blue was able to break it after some time.
Once the array was broken, Helag finally saw the contents of the ring.
The internal space of Medel’s ring was vast, roughly the size of five football fields.
Helag’s own spatial ring had seemed large before, but compared to Medel’s, it was much smaller.
If not for the fact that Medel’s name was engraved on the ring, Helag would have considered using it as his primary spatial ring.
But in matters like these, caution was paramount.
