Song Tan’s Chronicle - Chapter 106.1
Qiao Qiao squatted down, skillfully supporting the stem of a vetch flower before gently placing Big Bear back onto the bloom. He watched as it extended its long proboscis deep into the flower’s center, and then let out a sigh that sounded far too mature for his age:
“Big Bear, you should eat a little less, okay? If you get any fatter, you won’t be able to collect honey anymore… What about your babies? You should save some for them!”
His bright, sunny voice was so close, coming directly through the phone, that anyone listening couldn’t help but smile.
But at the same time, a strange feeling arose—looking at that hand, it seemed to belong to someone fairly grown, yet the words were so childlike.
The next moment, a fair face suddenly appeared right in front of the camera. Curious dark eyes looked straight into the lens, and long, thick eyelashes fluttered like butterflies trembling in the wind.
Up close, his expression was all innocence and purity, like a stream flowing down from a snowy mountain, making even one’s heartbeat pause for a moment.
Everyone watching the stream fell silent.
Then, the boy suddenly turned his head and shouted loudly:
“Sister, why is your phone here?”
Only then did Song Tan remember that her phone was still streaming.
However, she didn’t think much of it. Last time, she had carefully recorded multiple shots, added music, did post-production, and editing, yet even then, the video didn’t create any waves.
Now, she was being so casual about it—there was no way anyone would be watching, right?
Ah, figuring out how to get viewers was truly harder than understanding spiritual energy.
She didn’t pay much attention and instead asked Qiao Qiao, “Have you finished extracting the honey?”
Qiao Qiao nodded, then complained, “Big Brother is so naughty, he keeps sneaking bites.”
“It’s okay,” Song Tan comforted him, “I was planning to give your brother a bottle when he goes home. Now that he’s been sneaking bites, you should keep track and deduct it from his share when he leaves.”
“One spoonful for every bite he takes.”
In the spring breeze, Qiao Qiao laughed heartily.
Then, looking at Big Bear in his hand with concern, Qiao Qiao asked, “Sister, why is Big Bear still so fat? If he keeps this up, he won’t be able to fly anymore!”
Song Tan felt a little guilty.
If she hadn’t accidentally given it too much spiritual energy because it looked so cute back then…
Ahem.
However, Qiao Qiao didn’t really need an answer. He simply picked another bunch of vetch flowers from beside him and offered them to the fat bumblebee. When he saw it clumsily crawl onto the flowers, he smiled and said:
“It doesn’t matter if you can’t fly; Big Bear is my good friend, and I will take care of him.”
Suddenly, Zhao Lei, watching from the screen, understood: this boy… he must be someone with some developmental challenges.
All his words were childlike, and everything he did was so innocent.
He chuckled with a touch of sadness: after all, how could an adult burdened by life have such pure eyes?
Even now, he was still struck by that close-up smile from earlier.
“Come on, Qiao Qiao,” the unseen girl said again, “these two baskets are full. Help your sister carry them back, and then bring the baskets over again.”
“Okay!”
Qiao Qiao stopped rubbing the bee’s backside. The sound of grass rustling began again as he seemed to stand up and walked forward.
The camera angle was limited; all it showed was a basket full of interwoven purple and green vetch, which swayed heavily as it followed the boy’s footsteps slowly away.
Just then, the voice of the elderly man sounded in the field:
“Tan Tan, the chives in the corner of the upper field are growing really well. You can harvest them in the next couple of days. The leaves are plump and thick, just perfect!”
