Chapter 325: Hospital Visit
When Fang Zhou returned to the hospital where Qin Yun worked, it was midday on the fourth day since his injury. Summer had been in full swing for a while, and the scorching sun made it feel unbearable to be outside. People walking under the blazing sun would have felt more comfortable with ice packs strapped to their bodies.
Fang Zhou’s back wound had started to itch, likely due to the healing process. He had come to the hospital to have his bandages changed. Even though Han Xi had offered to have Dr. He Rong come to their house to change his bandages, Fang Zhou refused. He didn’t want to feel like a burden needing constant care from Han Xi.
He didn’t like that feeling, so he braved the 35-degree heat to get his bandages changed himself. As soon as he stepped into the cool, air-conditioned hospital, he felt like he was coming back to life.
“Fang Zhou? You’re back?” A surprised voice came from behind him, tinged with a slight tremor. Fang Zhou turned around to see Qin Yun.
Today, she was the doctor on duty. He nodded and replied, “Yes, it’s me. Thanks for what you did the other day.” He remembered that Qin Yun had been the first to stop his bleeding and had personally stitched his wound. He felt grateful.
“I was just doing my job,” Qin Yun said, standing up and taking a few steps closer, as if she wanted to inspect his wound. Fang Zhou instinctively stepped back, which stung her a bit. A dark thought briefly clouded her mind: ‘You were happy to stay with Han Xi for days, but you can’t handle me touching you?’
Realizing his reaction was unnecessary, Fang Zhou stepped forward again, lifting his shirt to show his wound. “I’m here to get my bandage changed. Could you take a look?”
This simple request seemed to calm Qin Yun. She pushed away her darker thoughts and smiled gently. “Sure, have a seat.”
Qin Yun’s voice wasn’t sweet but rather deep and rich, like a fine wine that grew on you over time. Fang Zhou trusted her professionalism and decided to remove his shirt. The bandages from Dr. He were still in place, but they couldn’t hide his well-toned body. His lean waist, faintly visible abs, and well-defined muscles attracted attention.
Fang Zhou, unaware of how attractive he looked, appeared completely unbothered. Qin Yun’s eyes lingered on him, her mind replaying memories of their past intimacy. The soft lamp light, their entwined bodies, and their whispered conversations—all vivid in her memory.
“Qin Yun? Are you okay?” Fang Zhou asked, breaking her reverie. He found it odd that she wasn’t moving. After all, she was a surgeon who had surely seen worse injuries.
Qin Yun snapped back to reality, her smile becoming more genuine. “Sorry, your body is quite impressive. I got distracted.”
In front of the man she admired, Qin Yun chose to be straightforward. She wasn’t hiding her feelings for Fang Zhou. He knew he had a decent body, an asset that had once attracted Qin Yun and others. But now wasn’t the time to dwell on that.
“Let’s focus on the wound,” he said, clearing his throat and urging her to start.
Qin Yun quickly put on gloves and began unwrapping his bandages. The wound had improved significantly, with fresh skin growing. Fang Zhou had been well taken care of.
A hint of resentment flashed in Qin Yun’s eyes. If Han Xi hadn’t taken Fang Zhou away, this could have been her chance. Han Xi was indeed a formidable opponent, but Qin Yun wasn’t one to back down. The outcome was still uncertain.
She efficiently changed Fang Zhou’s bandages, rewrapping his wound with fresh ones. “Alright, come back in two days to change the bandages again. You should be ready to have the stitches removed soon.”
Sitting back at the computer, she prescribed some painkillers. “These should help if the pain makes it hard to sleep. If you can’t sleep, call me.”
Fang Zhou blinked, confused. “Call you for sleeping pills?”
Qin Yun smiled, her eyes twinkling mischievously. “No, you don’t need sleeping pills. I can’t prescribe those lightly.”
“Then why would I call you?” he asked, puzzled.
Qin Yun motioned for him to come closer. Fang Zhou, unsuspecting, leaned in to listen. She whispered something that made his ears turn red.
“You, you, you…” Fang Zhou stammered, stepping back, feeling embarrassed. Qin Yun had suggested watching something inappropriate together to help him sleep.
“I’ll pass, but thanks for the offer,” he said, feeling awkward. If they were still a couple, he might have welcomed the idea. But now, given their complicated relationship, it seemed too awkward.
He quickly put on his shirt and grabbed his phone, eager to leave. “I’ll go pay for the medication. Thanks for your help today.”
As he opened the door to leave, Qin Yun asked, “Did you enjoy your time with Han Xi?”
Fang Zhou hesitated, surprised she knew where he had been. No wonder she hadn’t called or messaged like Chu Xinran or Qiao Sisi.
“I had a good time. Honestly, I’m happy wherever I am,” he replied, waving goodbye. “See you.”
Once he left, Qin Yun sat alone, lost in thought. She had tried various means to locate Fang Zhou and had learned he was at the Han family’s old residence. Knowing that place was hard to access, she had decided to wait calmly.
But what was Han Xi’s move? Was she claiming her territory? Qin Yun’s gaze darkened. “Fang Zhou, the outside world is dangerous. You’re only safe with me,” she muttered.
A knock on the door brought her back to reality. “Dr. Qin, may I come in?”
“Please, come in,” Qin Yun replied with a warm smile, ready to focus on her next patient. This ‘patient’ was somewhat unexpected, however.
