- Chapter 64 - Enemies Cross Paths Once Again: Another Encounter with the Ye Family
Hearing Wang Mian’s words, Si Yu sat up straight, lowering her smooth and slender leg, which had been resting elegantly across the other. She covered it with her skirt and frowned slightly.
“Is what you said true? What’s the name of this technique?”
Wang Mian hesitated, unsure whether to reveal it.
Seeing his hesitation, Si Yu smirked coldly, “Not bad. At least you’ve got some sense of caution. But let me be clear, I have no intention of stealing your technique, nor will I leak any information about it.
Cultivating immortality and martial arts cannot be pursued simultaneously. Even the Immortal Dao Patriarch abandoned martial arts before advancing in the immortal path.
They are two entirely separate systems of cultivation. While immortal cultivators have body-refining techniques, they are worlds apart from true martial arts.
Even if I obtained your technique, I wouldn’t practice it. Why would I abandon my Nascent Soul cultivation to laboriously train in martial arts, with no guarantee of the upper limits?”
Relieved by her words, Wang Mian quickly explained, “No, no, Master Si Yu, you misunderstand me. It’s just… the name of this technique is, uh… a bit outrageous. I was worried you wouldn’t believe me if I told you.”
In truth, Wang Mian was also concerned about the possibility of the technique being stolen and leaked. After all, the Ye family still had several disciples who had lost their cultivation; they might also want to train in martial arts.
Wang Mian wasn’t about to dig his own grave.
“Oh? What’s the name of this technique? How outrageous could it be?”
“The technique is called the Indestructible Vajra Art. At its peak, it claims to make the body indestructible and invincible.”
Upon hearing this, Si Yu scoffed, “Any technique, when cultivated to its peak, can claim to be invincible. But how many people ever reach that level?
Still, your so-called indestructible technique sounds more like a method to enhance physical resilience and vitality. To defeat your enemies, you’ll first need to outlast them—if you’re tougher than them, you could wear them down to death.”
Wang Mian scratched his head awkwardly and asked, “Do you think this technique might be enough to impress that senior?”
“I’m not sure. I don’t understand martial arts, after all.
But presenting him with a martial arts technique is definitely unique. Since all other techniques have been lost, considering that old relic’s obsession with martial arts, it might just pique his interest.”
Si Yu pulled out two blank jade slips and handed them to Wang Mian.
“Record your technique onto these jade slips. Start with just the first half. If he’s willing to take you as a disciple, then give him the second half.
If he refuses, he won’t be able to fully utilize half a technique. That way, you won’t lose anything.”
“Understood. Thank you, Master.”
Wang Mian accepted the jade slips respectfully and, mimicking Han Feng’s earlier method, pressed them to his forehead, engraving the technique onto them.
Si Yu stood up and said, “For the sake of my two disciples, I’ll take you to see him. But let me warn you, that old man is extremely difficult to deal with. If he tries to kill you, make sure you run quickly—I’ll block him for as long as I can.”
Her words sent chills through everyone, but for Wang Mian’s sake, they were willing to face the danger.
Carrying Wang Mian on his back, Han Feng followed Si Yu with the rest of the group as they flew toward the northern part of the Yin-Yang Sect.
—
They reached a large mountain in the north. Han Feng observed that its peak was surrounded by numerous streams that converged into a lower pool. This pool lay beside a cliff, from which a stream cascaded down to form a magnificent waterfall.
Si Yu led them to the back of the mountain. From there, they saw that beneath the waterfall, by the pool, stood two simple wooden cabins. The structures appeared rudimentary—less sophisticated than even the servant quarters Han Feng had once lived in, which were at least made of brick.
“That’s where that old relic, Pan Shan, lives,” Si Yu said. “Huh? What are those people doing there?”
The group looked down and saw a large crowd gathered in the clearing outside the cabins. The crowd included both elderly and younger individuals.
The older ones looked anxious, while the younger ones… all had gaping holes where their dantians used to be.
It was a pitiful sight.
And as for how those dantian injuries happened, Han Feng was all too familiar with the cause.
They didn’t descend immediately but instead hovered mid-air, observing what the Ye family was up to.
Standing in front of the cabin, Ye Longquan’s father clasped his hands and said loudly, “Senior Pan Shan, this junior is a member of the Ye family. A hundred years ago, you were a close friend of my grandfather, Ye Qingmei. Today, I come to humbly request your assistance. I hope you can grant us an audience.”
After a moment, the wooden door creaked open, and an old man stepped out.
He had long, white hair and an equally long beard, giving him the appearance of a hermit. But his disheveled look contrasted sharply with his muscular physique. Wearing only a sleeveless vest and shorts, his chiseled muscles bulged with strength, exuding an overwhelming sense of power. His appearance and build seemed completely mismatched.
With a bamboo chair in hand, Pan Shan placed it outside the door and sat down, his expression impatient.
“Were it not for your grandfather’s sake, you wouldn’t even get to see me. Speak. What do you want?”
Ye Longquan’s father quickly replied, “Senior, here’s the situation. During the recent Ancestor’s Ceremony, an evil disciple infiltrated the secret realm. Our Ye family members did nothing to provoke him, but because of a minor grudge with one of our less reputable family members, he acted with brutal cruelty.
That despicable wretch destroyed the cultivation foundations of five of our disciples, shattering their dantians and forever breaking their connection to the immortal path.
Senior, you’ve experienced this kind of suffering yourself. Surely, you can empathize with their plight.”
Hearing this, Pan Shan glanced at the five Ye family disciples. Upon seeing their ruined dantians, he nodded in acknowledgment.
“Indeed, that’s a truly vile act. To do such harm to one’s sectmates… such a person deserves to be killed as a warning to others. So, did the Sect Leader execute this disciple?”
“No, Senior. Though his character is abominable, his aptitude is excellent. The Sect Leader protected him, and he remains free to this day.”
“Hmph. Someone like that doesn’t deserve to live. But it’s none of my business. Tell me, what do you want? Are you asking me to kill him for you?”
“No, no, Senior. Such a trivial matter wouldn’t dare trouble you. We Ye family members will handle that ourselves.
Our request is about these five children. They’re good kids, but now their immortal paths are forever severed. As parents, it’s heartbreaking to see them like this.
So we’ve brought these gifts and humbly ask that you consider taking them as disciples. Please, teach them martial arts so they can pursue another path.
They’re obedient and hardworking. They can fetch water, chop wood, cook, or do anything you ask. All we ask is that you teach them martial arts. They’re willing to endure any hardship.”
After speaking, Ye Longquan’s father hurriedly signaled the crowd to present the gifts. The clearing was soon filled with an array of ornate boxes, piled high as offerings.
