- Chapter 186 - Is This Still the Future Days Simulation? (1/3)
After lunch, Avena and Ciel returned to the hotel.
Although the house had been chosen, it would still take some time to complete the procedures and move things.
To be on the safe side, Ciel planned to stay at the hotel with everyone for a few more days, ensuring safety while observing how things developed.
Most importantly, Ciel wanted to wait for the Future Days simulation to move forward a few more days, reducing the cost from 200 Fate Points to 100 Fate Points. She would first explore the situation a hundred days later to ensure absolute safety.
But when the four of them arrived at the hotel entrance, they found that in addition to the two police carriages that were originally parked opposite the hotel, several luxurious carriages had now appeared.
One of the carriages had a strange balance symbol. That balance looked like a pair of eyes watching others.
Church of the God of Order?
Ciel had seen Avena draw the Eye of Order contract before, but compared to the church symbol she was seeing now, it seemed the icon Avena drew in the simulation was only half of it, a single eye.
The moment Avena saw that carriage, she just whispered, “Go.”
Then, she quickened her steps, and Ciel also quickened her steps to keep up.
But when Avena reached the steps and arrived at the hotel entrance, she saw a woman with subtle wrinkles on her face, wearing a dark blue church robe, standing inside the lobby. Upon seeing Avena, she smiled and slowly nodded at her.
Avena’s steps faltered slightly, but the attendant at the door had already opened it. Helpless, Avena could only slowly walk in and approach the middle-aged woman.
“Teacher.” Avena slightly nodded, as a greeting.
“You’ve grown taller, Avena.”
The woman smiled and took off her white glove, revealing her right hand covered in steel. She raised her hand and gently rubbed Avena’s head, continuing with a smile, “Last time I saw you, you were just this tall.”
Saying this, the woman gestured with her hand at her waist, her eyes filled with affection and nostalgia.
“Are those your friends?”
The woman looked towards Ciel, raised her hand to her chest, and smiled as she waved at Ciel. “Hello, I’m Helen Stone.”
The middle-aged woman seemed to always be this gentle towards others, and spoke slowly. She might slightly annoy some impatient people, but overall, she gave a harmless impression.
“Hello, my name is Ciel.” Ciel also slightly nodded, responding.
Then, Helen turned her gaze to Nia. A hint of heartache and sadness showed in her sky-blue pupils. She looked at Nia and said, “Saint… Lord Nia, are you well recently?”
Nia gazed at the woman. A faint blue light flickered behind the helmet’s slit, but she didn’t speak, as if she had forgotten the woman before her.
Finally, Helen turned her gaze to Tara. She was about to greet the “maid” Tara, but at this moment, Avena spoke.
“Teacher, if you are here to persuade me, I suggest we part ways now.”
Avena spoke calmly, but Ciel could hear a slight tremble and sadness in her voice.
The Roswell family, if they can’t use force, they’ll use persuasion?
Is this person like William from last time? Coming to persuade Avena to return to the family?
Except this time, the person who came was from the church.
“Avena…”
Helen looked at Avena and said softly, “You have always been my most proud student… You know, the situation is unstable recently. The church needs you…”
“Ciel, let’s go.”
Avena said to Ciel without turning back, then walked directly past Helen and headed towards the stairs.
“Avena, even if you don’t consider me, consider Lord Nia. Continuing to violate the Holy Law like this will only make her situation worse…”
Helen quickly followed behind Avena, but Avena seemed to have no intention of stopping.
Finally, Helen gave up on trying to catch up. She shook her head with a bitter smile and said, “Avena, I cannot block the Holy Law Judgment Group’s plan next time… They are very urgent, Avena…”
“Originally, I was going to go directly to Berren City to find you. You should have gone to a farther place, Avena…”
Helen’s arms dropped weakly. She watched Avena go upstairs and away, letting Ciel, Nia, and Tara pass by her. She paused her gaze on Nia’s back for a moment, then turned and left, her back looking a little lonely.
The target of the Church of the God of Order was not just Avena, but also Nia.
The hidden reasons seemed even more complex than she had imagined.
The situation is unstable recently, the church needs them? The Church of the God of Order is very urgent?
Is it because of the manifestation of “Uniqueness”? Do they desperately need a saintess to help them enter the Other Side to find items?
But judging by Helen’s way of speaking, she didn’t seem to be persuading Avena. Instead, it sounded more like a warning. At least it was clear enough for Ciel, who didn’t know the inside story, to understand.
Ciel followed Avena upstairs. In front of Avena’s door, Ciel stopped, turned and gave Tara a look, signaling her to take care of Nia, and to inform her if anything happened. Then, Ciel walked into Avena’s room, closing the door behind her.
At this moment, Avena was already sitting on the sofa, no longer with the expressionless look from before. She was leaning forward, hands on her legs, her head down. Ciel couldn’t see her expression.
Ciel sat on Avena’s left side, just gently caressing Avena’s back, not asking anything, waiting for Avena to calm down a little.
After comforting her for about ten seconds, Avena’s body slightly leaned towards Ciel. Ciel also promptly used her left hand to reach behind her neck, pushed aside the hair on her right side, allowing Avena to lean better on her shoulder.
“Helen is the Roswell family’s church consultant, and also the teacher who has been guiding me since I was a child. She and Nia raised me together…
She’s a good person. She had no choice… I hope you don’t blame her.”
Avena spoke softly. It seemed that every time she recalled past events, Avena’s mood would be a little low.
“Should we not have come to Ansu… Perhaps we could go to Avilon, the capital of Pharos.”
Ciel said hesitantly.
“No,”
Avena shook her head and said, “According to Teacher Helen, even if we stayed in Berren City, they would eventually come looking for us… Coming to Ansu just brought this forward on their priority list.”
It seems Ansu City isn’t that safe either…
Staying in Berren City was dangerous because it was far from the capital, prone to large-scale city-destroying incidents and unchecked assassinations. Staying in the capital, Ansu, was complicated by various interpersonal relationships.
Handling interpersonal relationships was precisely something Ciel wasn’t very good at. She was better at directly handling people.
“Then what will they do next? What is that Holy Law Judgment Group that Helen mentioned? Will you be in danger?”
Ciel asked in a low voice. This was her main concern right now. She was afraid the other party would directly use forceful means to take Avena away.
