- Chapter 224 - Simulation, Helping Forte Kill Keyman? (3/4)
“Tara, come here.”
Ciel beckoned to Tara, having her come to her side.
“Lord Ciel.”
Tara took two steps forward, stood beside Ciel, and asked with her head lowered, “Is there something you need from your servant?”
“There is something I need you to do.” Ciel looked at Tara and said. “Later, the task of contacting the Church of the Savior Goddess will be entrusted to you.”
“Contact… the Church of the Savior Goddess?”
Tara’s face showed a little confusion. She lowered her head, looking at the tip of Ciel’s shoe, and asked, “Please forgive your humble servant’s foolishness… How should I contact the Church of the Savior Goddess? Should I reveal my identity directly or…”
Currently, the Divine Advent Church and the Church of the Savior Goddess were still in a state of mutual hostility. If Tara directly appeared in front of the people of the Church of the Savior Goddess and revealed her identity, she would likely be arrested on the spot and sent to the Judicator’s Court for trial, which would be certain death.
However, even so, with just a word from Ciel, Tara would definitely run directly to the entrance of the Holy See of the Church of the Savior Goddess and expose herself. She wouldn’t care about her own life or death.
Ciel was not in a hurry to redeem the Sacred Contract and the scepter. She wasn’t going to give Tara any specific task yet. She was just planning to listen to Tara’s opinion to facilitate her planning for the next simulation.
The next simulation was three days later, on the 21st. It would coincide with Avena’s housewarming dinner. Ciel needed to make some preparations in advance.
“Later, I might give you a Sacred Contract from the Church of the Savior Goddess and a Papal Scepter. You can use these two items to contact the Church of the Savior Goddess and gain temporary control of the Church of the Savior Goddess for a period of time.”
Ciel continued, “Simply put, you will be the temporary Pope for a while.”
Sacred Contract and Papal Scepter? And she’s going to be a temporary Pope?
Is this even possible?
Tara’s heart trembled slightly. She knew all too well the value of these two items, especially the Papal Scepter.
Is the Mother Goddess planning to gradually take over the Church of the Savior Goddess and then seize control?
“Yes!”
Tara straightened her back and said, “As you command, Lord Ciel!”
“After you become the temporary Pope, you will definitely be exposed to the view of others.”
Ciel said, “At that time, you will continue to complete the task at the Church of the Savior Goddess and reduce your contact with me. It is not yet time for me to appear.”
Tara’s emotions had been somewhat excited, but when she heard the latter part of Ciel’s words, the smile on Tara’s face slowly froze.
After a moment of silence, Tara slowly raised her head and looked at Ciel. Her eyes were red, and her voice was trembling.
“Lord Ciel… Did Tara do something wrong?”
Tara directly knelt down and said in a pleading tone, “If Tara did something wrong, you can punish Tara… Why do you not want me anymore?”
For someone from the Divine Advent Church to go and be the temporary Pope of the Church of the Savior Goddess was a task that everyone would fight over. If she presided over the church merger, she would be famous for eternity, becoming a saint written about in later generations.
But only Tara knew that this was definitely not a good task.
Becoming the temporary Pope, the price was being moved away from Lord Mother Goddess’s side, and not being able to see her again?
If this wasn’t an apparent promotion that was actually a demotion, what was it?
Tara was frantically thinking. Her mind was already in a state of confusion. She didn’t know what she had done wrong that made Lord Mother Goddess want to “exile” her.
Ciel at this moment also paused, looking at Tara who was kneeling before her.
To be honest, she hadn’t expected Tara’s reaction to be so strong. Tara seemed very resistant to leaving her side.
“This is only temporary, Tara.”
Ciel shook her head and said helplessly, “You can’t stay by my side as a maid forever.”
Having a Divine Advent Church, highly influential Archbishop as her maid beside her was indeed burying her talent. Ciel believed that having her as a temporary Pope was the best place for her to showcase her abilities.
Especially in presiding over the church merger—with Tara’s theological level, she could complete this task very well.
“Lord Mother Goddess, please don’t abandon me… Woo woo woo…”
Tara knelt on the ground, weeping uncontrollably. She pressed her forehead against the tip of Ciel’s shoe, tears streaming down.
Is the resistance so strong…?
Ciel sighed inwardly.
Tara’s loyalty to her was entirely because she was seen as the Mother Goddess. But Ciel knew that she was not “Sadhana.” The further they went, the more problems would definitely be exposed.
But given Tara’s fanaticism… if she really left her, who knows what she might do? Tara’s faith was too extreme and fanatical. The more it was like this, the more likely it was to spark some twisted emotions.
Did she have to find someone else?
But Ciel truly didn’t know who else could be capable of this task.
“Get up, Tara. Let me think who else to send.”
Ciel sighed. She twitched the tip of her shoe, signaling Tara to raise her head.
Hearing that Ciel wasn’t sending her away, Tara stood up. She wiped her red eyes and looked at Ciel, saying, “Thank you, Lord Ciel… Lord Ciel, do you need a reliable candidate for the temporary Pope?”
“Yes.” Ciel nodded.
“I can call someone over.”
Tara looked at Ciel and said, “She is somewhat like my student… She is a Cardinal I won over from the Church of the Savior Goddess before. If you agree, I can have her try.”
Tara didn’t mind selling out her student, as long as she could continue to stay… by Lord Mother Goddess’s side.
“No rush.”
Ciel shook her head. “Help me get the pen and ink.”
“Yes, Lord Ciel!”
Knowing she could continue to stay by Ciel’s side, Tara’s tears turned into laughter. She quickly wiped away the tears on her face and brought Ciel a pen and ink.
Ciel took the pen, dipped the nib in ink, and raised her hand. Silver light flashed. The manual appeared before her. She looked at the manual and began to think.
She now possessed a lot of new information, but she still couldn’t act recklessly in reality.
She could indeed directly kill Mond in reality, completely concealing Adele’s information—but doing so, Forte, that ticking time bomb, would still exist. If she did nothing and just waited, that bomb would still explode.
There was also a point Ciel had overlooked.
That was the “Keyman”‘s corpse, which was still in the hands of Deton Group.
