- Chapter 236 - Must Go on a Killing Spree! (2/2)
Tara seemed to experience Ciel’s gentle tone for the first time. She was stunned for a moment, then puffed out her meager chest and said resolutely, “This is just a small trial. It has no effect on me, Lord Ciel!”
Although Tara said this, Ciel could see that she was a little unsteady on her feet.
After all, in the last simulation, Tara had been unable to last long when facing the Other Side node while going underground. Her mental power was definitely weaker than Ciel’s.
Now that her whispers were lessened, Ciel felt greatly relieved, but for Tara, it seemed she had to put in her utmost effort to resist these whispers.
Now Ciel knew why the Saintesses and Saints of the Church of the God of Order would quickly deteriorate mentally after entering the Other Side node… That platinum armor definitely had some issues.
It might be a being of a higher rank than the Grim Worm, or a being of the same rank as the Grim Worm but with a deeper level of pollution—its appearance, and even its voice, would bring horrifying pollution to non-Other Side beings.
It was possible that if it simply cursed a couple of times in the ancient castle, saying “More garbage is here,” the Saints or Saintesses who went in to explore would directly collapse and go mad.
Fortunately, it was not hostile towards humans… at least not towards Ciel.
She couldn’t continue like this.
To ensure she could trap Forte in the Other Side, Ciel had to ensure her mental strength was sufficient, at least enough to support another interaction with that armor.
“Lord Ciel… your eyes?”
Tara, who had been looking into the eyes of the gentle Ciel, seemed to suddenly notice something and said subconsciously.
“What is it?”
Ciel stopped thinking. Her gaze focused on Tara’s face and asked.
“Just now… perhaps Tara was mistaken,”
Tara said hesitantly, “I think I saw something blurry and silver flash in the depths of your pupils…”
Something blurry… and silver?
Hearing the word silver, Ciel almost instantly locked onto her pocket watch.
What was going on?
“Wait a moment.”
Ciel looked at the full-length mirror not far behind Tara. But after thinking for a moment, she directly activated the upgraded 【Precognitive Sight】.
In Ciel’s mind, the scene within a fifteen-meter radius was completely replicated. And she could even switch perspectives at will, looking at different places.
She shifted her perspective to her own eyes and zoomed in on her pupils almost infinitely.
Indeed…
A familiar, indistinct watch face was appearing on it.
This is…
“System, what is this?”
Ciel directly asked the system in her mind.
When it came to matters related to the pocket watch, asking the system directly was the most straightforward approach. If Ciel had to find the answer herself, it would take a significant amount of time.
【These are eyes ^^】
Ciel ignored it and asked again. However, seeing the system’s expression, Ciel felt a little relieved.
The system using this expression indicated that the matter wasn’t serious and was still within the realm where the system could joke with her.
【This is because the Host’s mental state can no longer contain the knowledge and power of “Uniqueness” in your mind… If the Host continues to abuse her mental state recklessly, you are not far from being devoured by the knowledge…】
【Oh~ The system will use a more easily understandable analogy】
【You, your mental power has been weakened, and you are about to be devoured by the “potion” backlash ^^_】
【This is just a small prelude to the backlash and assimilation… Of course, if the Host can utilize it well, this could also be a good thing ^^_^^^_ Aren’t more eyes better?】
Backlash… assimilation…
If her mental power was weakened by the whispers, would the knowledge sealed in her mind “leak out”?
It was that knowledge that brought her pollution…
But what about the knowledge?
Ciel carefully recalled her memories from the end of the simulation until now, but she didn’t find any “leaked” knowledge.
【Don’t worry, Host. The system has blocked all of this for you. No need to thank me ^^】
The system blocked it…?
“Will there be any further impact?”
Ciel asked again in her mind. She needed to know if these things would still affect her.
【No, unless the Host’s mental state continues to deteriorate】
It seems the immediate priority is to address the issue of insufficient mental power…
Although her mental power was already quite high compared to ordinary Tier 2 or even Tier 3 transcendents, those Tier 2 and Tier 3 transcendents didn’t have to interact with the Other Side, this major source of pollution, every few days like she did.
She had to earn more Fate Points, manually upgrade 【Calm Mind】 to Lv.5, and reserve at least 110 Fate Points.
Now she had to find a way to temporarily alleviate her mental pollution problem…
Should she ask Avena again?
Ciel hesitated for a moment.
It hadn’t been two days since Avena last helped her alleviate her mental issues. If she went to Avena again now, although Avena wouldn’t refuse, her own mental power would definitely not be able to withstand such frequent pollution. Avena might even suffer a potion backlash as a result.
Suddenly, Ciel thought of the Pope of the Church of the God of Order and their Artificial Divinity plan.
Their Artificial Divinity plan… seemed to allow multiple people to share the burden of mental pollution…
No, it was still too dangerous.
Ciel recalled the scene Tara had described to her in the simulation… The Pope’s true body seemed to be just a terrifying brain. This form was not what Ciel desired.
She also didn’t know any high-level transcendents of the “Listener” path… Even if she did, Ciel couldn’t trust them as much as she trusted Avena.
They were mental-type transcendents… If the other party harmed her, the “Uniqueness” would help backlash the other party.
But if the other party simply left a “backdoor” in her memory that they could activate at any time while healing her, the consequences were something Ciel couldn’t bear.
Was she going back to the old method?
Helping Avena complete the Tier 3 reconstitution ritual?
Ciel had tried going from Tier 2 to Tier 3 in one day before, but that was only possible because the reconstitution ritual had already been completed in advance. There were too many uncertainties and coincidences in that process. Ciel wasn’t sure if directly helping Avena quickly complete the reconstitution ritual and advance would harm her.
After much thought, Ciel couldn’t think of a better way besides spending Fate Points.
Only by resolving her mental issues could she proceed with the rest of her plan.
Church reunification… controlling Lafayette and Mond… deceiving Forte… killing Forte and triggering a rewind… setting up an infinite loop trap…
She needed a large amount of Fate Points to conduct a comprehensive upgrade of all her skills…
Ciel needed to go on a large-scale killing spree in the simulation… Killing was the fastest way to gain points.
And this time, she couldn’t use the Other Side to kill. Ciel had to do it herself.
Within 24 hours, kill as many as possible, kill as quickly as possible, and kill as precisely as possible…
Ciel opened the simulation interface and looked at the time of Future Days simulation and Past Days simulation.
She had to find a time when she could go on a killing spree and earn points…

Why isn’t she upgrading all the cheap mundane skills? That should buy enough time for Avena and Tara to recover, and there’s still Percy.
Spending another 10 points on a simulation to pick up new mundane skills and upgrade them is also cheaper than 500.
? I thought she focus on ‘calm mind’ because its effect help improve mental power. I don’t think other skills provide that?
Time for Ciel to go grind some points
Yeah, have to grind those exp from time to time. Don’t just rush through story mode and complain when you get hard stuck (⌒‐⌒)
Ciel going crazy!!
