The Strongest Onmyoji and the Shikigami With AI are Unparalleled in Another World ~ A Second Life Properly Enjoyed Using Artificial Intelligence ~ - Chapter 20
AI-chan learned space magic and we accepted the request, so I headed over to Natalia and Alice who were looking at the request board.
Although there are still people in front of the request board, there are fewer than when I arrived.
“How is it?”
Approaching the two, I call out.
“The good ones are already taken.”
“…There aren’t any decent ones.”
It seems crowded for the two girls.
“How do you usually manage?”
“We’re in a C-rank party, so we’re usually able to avoid overlapping jobs.”
“…Adventurers mostly hover around D-rank. But with just the two of us now, we can only take D-rank jobs. And when that happens, there aren’t any good jobs left. Even the thief hunting job from before wasn’t great.”
Since there are only two of them.
“Wasn’t that job a good one? I thought 20 gold coins for such weaklings was good.”
“It’s far away. Staying overnight is dangerous, and sometimes there are ex-soldiers or mercenaries among the thieves, so it’s scary.”
“…Although those thieves were weak, it’s better if it’s a monster whose strength is known. We can sell the materials, so there’s an additional fee.”
Dealing with people isn’t worth it, it seems.
“Alright, then you have some free time. I’ve got a request to subdue a Big Boar, so help me out. First, where’s this Chiril Plain?”
I show the map Pamela gave me, which looks like a scribble.
“It’s just a little ways out after the West Gate. I think it’s in front of the forest… huh? Big Boar?”
“….Why would such a thing be in Chiril Plain?”
I don’t know.
“I managed to secure the urgent request ahead of time. But it seems like it might turn into a scramble by noon, so we should head out early.”
“That makes sense… adventurers from other districts will come if it’s a Big Boar, not just from the West District.”
“…I think it’s a C-rank job.”
Pamela’s really abusing her authority.
“I appreciate it. I’ll treat you next time. So, guide me there.”
“Okay, got it.”
“…I don’t need the fangs or fur, but please share the meat. I’ll make it tonight’s dinner.”
That’s a good idea. I want to have peony hot pot. I don’t know if there’s a pot, though.
“Alright, let’s go quickly. I want to go shopping in the afternoon.”
“Got it. Then, follow me.”
Natalia nods with a smile.
“…Let’s go.”
“Go!”
The sight of the two kids raising their hands is incredibly cute.
Satisfied with them, I leave the guild with Natalia guiding me to the gate.
The gate appears to be the West Gate, at the same place we passed through yesterday.
“What about a carriage?”
“It’s not too far, so we’ll walk. Carriages are expensive, you know.”
“…None of us can control a carriage, so we have to use smart horses that move on their own. Naturally, they’re expensive.”
I thought horses in this world were smart, but apparently, it varies by individual.
“There are also mountable shikigami, but it’s probably better not to… ”
“Really? What kind of creatures?”
“…Curious, aren’t you?”
The two are intrigued.
“Giant centipede, giant spider, or giant bee.”
“I didn’t hear anything…”
“…I don’t wanna ride.”
See?
Girls don’t like bugs.
My brother and I used to catch bugs and laugh when we were kids, but I remember our sister being completely disgusted.
Furthermore, when we showed the bugs we caught to our mother, she took them saying, ‘You’re so filial,’ and ate them right then and there.
I cried.
“Should I carry you?”
AI-chan asks, and we look at her in silence.
“I probably can do it ability-wise, but I don’t want to. It’d be tough.”
“That’s a disturbing image.”
“…Even though I’m small, I think it’s too much.”
No doubt.
“Let’s walk. AI-chan, can you draw a map of this Chiril Plain?”
“Sure thing.”
AI-chan nods and takes out paper and a pen.
“Drawing again today. Ah… there it is.”
“…Seriously. When did it show up?”
Natalia and Alice look up, and there’s a crow flying overhead.
“It’s been following us since we left the clan dorm.”
“This feels creepy. It’s like our every move is being watched.”
“…Stalker.”
“It’s just for reconnaissance, you know.”
Well, if we really wanted to track something, we could attach a small bug that’s hard to notice onto our clothes or something, but let’s not mention that.
It would probably freak them out.
“We won’t use it for that kind of thing, so don’t worry.”
“Well, you can tell just by looking up. I’ve never seen a bird like that before.”
“…It’s completely black and stands out.”
It seems there are no crows in this world.
“Alright, let’s go.”
We pass through the gate and head out for the Big Boar hunt.
We are currently recruiting. CN/KR/JP Translators/MTLers are welcome!
