The Strongest Onmyoji and the Shikigami With AI are Unparalleled in Another World ~ A Second Life Properly Enjoyed Using Artificial Intelligence ~ - Chapter 22
As we sit down on some mats and wait, the Big Boar floats up from the swamp.
“Oh, it’s floating.”
“….Is it dead?”
I wonder?
“The hostile reaction has disappeared. It seems the Big Boar has died.”
AI-chan, who has already finished drawing the map, informs us.
“AI-chan, go retrieve it.”
“Understood. Crow-chan!”
AI-chan nods and calls out to Crow-chan in the sky.
In response, Crow-chan immediately descends and perches on AI-chan’s shoulder.
“Crow-chan, take me over there.”
“….Kaw….”
Crow-chan seems reluctant, but it grabs AI-chan and flaps its wings with all it’s might, lifting AI-chan into the air.
Then, it flies over to where the Big Boar is. When they arrive, AI-chan, floating in mid-air, touches the Big Boar.
As the Big Boar disappears, I release the spell and return the swamp to solid ground.
“That’s enough.”
I say, and Crow-chan slowly lowers AI-chan to the ground, perching back on AI-chan’s shoulder.
Although Crow-chan is just sitting there normally, for some reason, it looks incredibly exhausted.
“Alright, it’s done. Let’s go home.”
As I say that and stand up, Natalia and Alice also get up.
“Yeah, sure.”
“…I didn’t do anything.”
“You guided us and cast magic, right? That’s enough.”
Well, for a boar that can’t do much more than charging headfirst, this is probably sufficient.
“Yeah.”
“….Well, whatever. Let’s just hurry back and eat some boar meat.”
We decide to head back and start making our way.
As we do, we pass by several groups of adventurers along the way.
“Are those the ones going to hunt the Big Boar for the urgent request?”
“Probably. It’s already around noon, so it might be a bit early, but I think the eager clans and parties would start moving early.”
“…They’re not adventurers from the Western District, huh?”
It’s a competition, after all.
But there’s no prey left.
“AI-chan, show us the map.”
When I ask AI-chan, it conjures up the map from spatial magic and shows it to us.
The map is as detailed as ever, and compared to the scribbles Pamela gave us, it’s like night and day.
“This is our current location, and this is where the Big Boar was,” AI-chan explains while pointing.
“It’s quite easy to understand when you look at it like this.”
To the west of the West Gate lies a plain, beyond which lies a deep forest.
“I think the forest where I was reincarnated is south of here.”
We came from the south and entered through the West Gate.
“It’s truly an amazing map.”
“…With Crow-chan around, we wouldn’t get lost in the forest.”
When Natalia and Alice say this, Crow-chan looks a little proud.
It feels like even Crow-chan has developed a will of its own.
Is it because of AI-chan’s influence?
As I think this, I can’t help but feel like I wouldn’t want Giant Spider-chan or Giant Centipede-chan to develop a will of their own.
Returning to town, we pass through the gate and head towards the guild.
By the time we arrive at the guild, it’s well past noon, and there are no other adventurers in sight.
“Oh? Is it over already?”
Pamela notices us entering the guild and calls out to us.
“It was just a quick job. By the way, we passed quite a few adventurers on our way back.”
I replied while approaching the reception desk.
“They were supposed to be posted at noon, but it seems other guilds posted them early. Well, it happens occasionally. It’s hard to complain when it’s for the safety of the residents”
Well, she’s making that troubled face, but I heard it from her this morning.
And she’s probably going to make the same excuse.
“Hmm… Sorry for making you waste your time…”
“It’s okay, it’s okay. In the first place, it’s not posted in our guild, and I don’t know about other guilds.”
They don’t seem to get along well…
“Well, never mind. AI-chan has it stored. What do we do? Was it the dismantling yard behind?”
“Yes, that’s right. Please follow me.”
Pamela says, getting up from her seat and heading out from the reception.
Following her lead, we step outside.
“Outside, huh?”
“Regardless of the requests, there are also people who ask for dismantling services. It’s paid, though.”
A dismantling yard, huh…
As someone who can’t even clean fish properly, I might make use of it.
When we reach the back of the guild, there’s a large building.
Pamela walks straight into the building, and we follow her. Inside, there’s one large room, and people who looked like craftsmen seem to be dismantling various items here and there.
“Bart-san!”
When Pamela calls out loudly, an older man giving instructions in the back turns to us.
“What is it? A new job?”
The man called Bart approaches as he says so.
“Look, it’s the Big Boar we talked about. Yuuma-san here took it down,”
Pamela introduces me.
The old man then gazes at me intently.
“Haven’t seen you before. A rookie?”
“Yes. I just arrived in town yesterday and became an adventurer. I’m a reincarnate.”
“I see… So, jumping right in and getting your hands dirty, eh?”
Bart chuckles as he looks at Natalia and Alice.
“That’s not true.”
“…Not true”
Natalia and Alice both reply, somewhat awkwardly.
“Fine. Well, Harrison’s spot is vacant anyway, so why not?”
“That’s why I said it’s not!”
“….That’s not it.”
Are you still going on with this?
“I don’t care what you guys think, so can I leave? I need to go shopping this afternoon.”
“You’re such an impatient brother.”
“I’m broke. In fact, I even owe Natalia some money.”
It’s just one gold coin, though.
“Oh, you mentioned you just became an adventurer yesterday. That’s fine. Go ahead, take it out.”
“AI-chan, please.”
“Got it.”
AI-chan nods and raises her hand.
Then, out of nowhere, a huge boar appears.
“Wow! Amazing! You don’t see this size often! But, it’s dirty… Mud?”
Indeed, it’s dirty… I should’ve washed it.
