- Chapter 147 - AI-chan: "It's good to see you looking happy."
As we reached the gates of the town of Ibru, the carriage came to a stop.
When Leanne stepped out of the carriage, we followed after her as well.
“Excuse me. This looks like a royal carriage. May I ask what brings you here?”
A soldier, who was likely the gatekeeper, addressed us.
“I am Leanne, the guild master of the royal capital. I apologize for arriving without notice.”
“Leanne-sama!? What brings you here?”
“It’s royal business. I’m sorry, but I need to ask Count Faol a few questions. Since it’s already this late, just tell him we will visit around midday tomorrow. It’s not a matter of great importance, so there’s no need for any excessive formalities.”
“Understood! I will inform him immediately!”
The soldier saluted.
“Also, there is a bridge on the way here, is there not?”
“Yes, there is. Is something the matter?”
“It has collapsed. We were able to cross with magic, but it would be a problem for merchants and travelers.”
“What!? I-Is that true!?”
It seemed he was unaware.
“Yes, it was quite thoroughly collapsed. You should prioritize repairs.”
“U-Understood! Thank you for the information!”
“Good. And take care of the carriage for us. We’ll be staying at an inn nearby.”
“Yes! Leave it to me!”
We left the carriage to the soldier and entered the town, walking ahead.
Many people were walking around, but overall, the town was smaller than Celia.
“Ah, Master, look, an elf!”
AI-chan pointed at a passerby.
Sure enough, there was a woman with long ears who looked like Lily. However, she seemed more mature than the young girl, Lily, and she smiled wryly at being pointed at.
“Don’t point at people.”
I restrained AI-chan and bowed my head to the elf.
The elf, still smiling wryly, walked away.
“I’ve never seen an elf other than Lily before! She was beautiful, wasn’t she?”
“Yeah… don’t go trying to add more.”
You were probably trying to grab my attention like a child.
“Aww…”
“‘Aww’ isn’t going to cut it. Besides, she’s married.”
“Really?”
“With that kind of composure, I’d say so.”
Probably.
“Master, what is this mysterious ability of yours…?”
You can tell just by looking, can’t you?
As we walked through the town, taking in the sights, Leanne came to a stop.
“Yuuma-sama, is that inn over there okay?”
“Anywhere’s fine. We’re just going to head back anyway.”
“True. Then, let’s go with that one.”
We entered the inn, rented a room, and teleported from inside the room.
In the room, just like in the afternoon, Annie and Lily were there, and Pamela was also sitting in the kotatsu.
“Oh, you’re back.”
“Welcome back.”
“Thanks for having me.”
The three of them said that, and Lily started preparing tea.
We took off our shoes, stepped up into the room, and got into the kotatsu.
“Tama-chan.”
Leanne lifted the edge of the kotatsu and called out to Tama-chan, who was likely inside.
Tama-chan, who had been sleeping nestled between Annie’s feet, woke up and climbed onto Leanne’s lap.
“You’re so warm…”
Leanne looked delighted, so Alice and I also rested our feet on Annie’s warm legs.
“Pamela, are you done with work?”
I took a sip of the tea Lily had made and spoke to Pamela.
“No, I’m off today. I came over because I was bored.”
“You just came to get into the kotatsu. Alice, a little higher… yes, there.”
Look who’s talking.
“Is work slowing down?”
“The adventurers are fully in winter break mode.”
Well, that makes sense.
Even if you go to the western forest, there’s nothing there.
“Take it easy. Rest is important.”
“I will. How about you guys? How did it go?”
“We reached the town of Ibru.”
“Oh! That’s great.”
I’m glad nothing happened.
Except the bridge was down.
“Oh, right. AI-chan.”
“Yeees?”
AI-chan used her spatial magic and brought out the dragon scales she had been storing.
“Here, Pamela. I picked these up, so buy them from me.”
I placed them in front of Pamela.
“What’s this?”
“They’re dragon scales. We found them lying around.”
“Wait, seriously…?”
Pamela picked up the scales and began examining them closely.
“They’re worth 100 gold coins, right?”
“Yeah, that’s true, but… can we even sell these?”
Pamela looked to Leanne for confirmation.
“I’d rather not sell them now. I wouldn’t know what to say about their origin, and it could start strange rumors.”
“Thought so. Yuuma-san, it’s a no-go.”
A no-go, huh…
“Annie, could these be used as ingredients for medicine?”
“Nope. Bring back blood or a heart.”
That sounds like a battle scenario.
“Guess I’ll just display it.”
After getting the scales back from Pamela, I stood up and placed them next to the sword given to me by the king, which was displayed in the corner of the room.
“Yeah, it looks good.”
If something can’t be sold, displaying it is the next best option.
After I finished putting up the scales, I returned to the kotatsu.
“Do you want to eat? Should I bring something?”
When Lily asked, I nodded, and she got up and left the room.
“Aren’t you going to help?”
“I can’t. You, Alice, and Leanne are too heavy. I can’t move.”
Oh, I see…
“I’ll go help,” Pamela said.
Pamela said that and stood up, going after Lily.
After a while, they brought dinner, and we all began to eat.
“By the way, I saw an elf in town.”
“An elf? Who could it be?”
Lily had a thoughtful look on her face.
“I only saw them in passing, so I don’t know their name. Is your family’s home close to the town of Ibru?”
“Huh? It’s somewhat close, I guess… Since we do trade there, it might be related… I’ve been there before, too.”
“If it’s close, should we stop by your family’s place?”
“Hmm… I did go back recently. I’ll think about it after we’re done with the dragon issue.”
Well, that should come first.
“What’s the plan for tomorrow? To the count’s place?”
Natalia asked.
“Yeah, that’s the plan. But Leanne and I will go, so the rest of you can take the day off.”
It wouldn’t be of any use for them to come, and they probably wouldn’t want to go anyway.
“Got it. We’ll wait here, then.”
“Me too! I’m bored, and it’s warm here!”
It’s turning into a hangout spot…
Natalia’s books and Annie’s mixing tools are scattered around…
