The Strongest Onmyoji and the Shikigami With AI are Unparalleled in Another World ~ A Second Life Properly Enjoyed Using Artificial Intelligence ~ - Chapter 154
“Well then, Village Chief. I’ll go confirm that. Of course, I’ll report the results.”
Leanne said this as she stood up, prompting the rest of us to stand as well.
“Are you leaving already? If you go now, it’ll be night by the time you reach the mountain. Why not rest here in the village tonight? We’d be happy to host you.”
“We appreciate the offer, but since it’s a dragon, we must hurry. We’re accustomed to camping out, so there’s no need to worry.”
That’s a lie, though.
We’ll head back, eat dinner under the kotatsu, and sleep in a futon.
Still, it seems Leanne has no intention of mentioning the teleportation.
“I see… Well then, please take care of it.”
“Indeed. Please don’t worry about Lily. I believe Yuuma-sama will take full responsibility for her.”
“Please take care of me!” Lily raised her hand with a cheerful smile.
“Is that so? Yuuma-dono, I leave her in your hands.”
“Yes.”
“Well then, we’ll be on our way.”
We left the village chief’s house along with the old man and returned to Lily’s house.
“Welcome back.”
Lily’s mother greeted us.
“Ah… Apparently, Lily and the others are heading out immediately.”
“What? Really?”
“I’d like them to stay longer, but it seems it’s work-related.”
“I see. Well, it can’t be helped. Lily, don’t trouble Yuuma-san, okay?”
Her mother cautioned Lily.
“I’ll be fine!”
“…Yuuma-san, please look after Lily for the long term.”
“…Please take care of her.”
Her mother said this with a beaming smile, while the old man looked somewhat displeased.
“Leave it to me.”
We decided to set out, leaving Lily’s house, climbing down the ladder, and taking Koma-chan, who had been quietly waiting, out of the Elf village and toward the mountains.
“Did Lily’s mom say anything to you?”
I asked the three who had stayed behind at Lily’s house.
“Nothing.”
“…Just small talk.”
“You don’t need to worry about it.”
Something happened…
After all, Mom was acting strange.
“I see.”
“What about you?”
Natalia asked in return.
“It seems the village chief suspected it might be a dragon. Well, he just asked us not to provoke it unnecessarily. He’s worried it might escape and take its anger out on the village.”
“That makes sense. If it’s really there, it’s pretty close by.”
Natalia said, looking ahead.
In front of us, beyond the trees, we could see the tall mountain range.
“Leanne, what’s beyond those mountains?”
“That’s the border. Beyond that is the neighboring country.”
So whether the dragon is there or not, that’s our endpoint.
If it’s not there, no problem.
If it is, we’ll report back to the king.
No camping in the cold, and it made for a good way to kill time.
“Just a little farther. Let’s head to the base of the mountain today and return.”
“Understood.”
We continued walking toward the mountain range.
When it got dark, we reached the base of the mountain and returned using Leanne’s teleportation.
Back in my room, it was dark because everyone was out.
I turned on the lights and started warming up the kotatsu.
“A kotatsu feels even colder when it’s not warm yet,” Annie complained while sitting in it.
“It’ll heat up soon enough. More importantly, what should we do about dinner?”
Naturally, no one had prepared anything, and starting now would be tiring.
“Ah, right. Clive could… nope, never mind. At this hour, he’s probably having a party on the second floor.”
I had a feeling that might be the case.
Those guys love to start drinking right away.
“I’ll cook something with the ingredients we have left.”
“Oh, I’ll help too.”
Natalia and Lily volunteered.
“Um, Yuuma-sama. If it pleases you, would you like to go out for dinner? At this hour, the shops in the royal capital should still be open… and, well, these guys can come along too.”
Leanne made the suggestion.
“The royal capital, huh…”
Not a bad idea.
“What do you think? We can teleport to the guild, and the place we went last time has private rooms that can fit this many people.”
That place, huh.
Last time, it was just Leanne and I who went, so I suppose it wouldn’t be a bad idea to take these guys along this time.
“Alright… what about you all?”
I asked the four who seemed hopeful after hearing Leanne’s suggestion.
“We’re going, we’re going!”
“…I’d like to go.”
“I wanna go!”
“I’ll go.”
Seems like everyone wants to go.
“Master, there’s someone nearby walking alone, heading out for a solitary meal.”
Pamela, huh.
“Call her.”
“Understood!”
We left the room and waited for Pamela in the social area at the edge of the entrance hall.
Soon, the front door opened, and Pamela came in.
“Hey. Let’s head to the royal capital for some food.”
When I said that, Pamela walked over with an exasperated look on her face.
“I appreciate the invite, but…”
“What’s wrong? Did Tama-chan do something?”
“I was walking through town, and even though I locked my room as usual, somehow Tama-chan managed to follow me. Next thing I knew, she was in front of me, meowing and pointing her tail this way.”
That’s just like Tama-chan.
“Well, it’s fine, isn’t it? I’ll treat you. It’s a fancy place.”
“Thanks… I’d like to go.”
Alright, good.
“Leanne, ready to go?”
“Yes. Please touch me.”
As instructed by Leanne, everyone touched her.
“…This looks like a bunch of people ganging up on a young girl.”
Fair point…
“Don’t say unnecessary things. I was just thinking the same… Alright, we’re teleporting!”
As Leanne said that, my vision went dark.
