- Chapter 12.1 - Bewitched (part 1)
In the base cafeteria, all meals were eaten standing up.
Qin Ke’s class was full of freshmen, unfamiliar with each other. At a table with twelve people, it was so quiet that it seemed like there were only one or two people.
Gu Xinqing was an exception.
“Ke Ke,” she leaned into Qin Ke’s ear when no one was paying attention and whispered, “Look up at the opposite side, Huo Jun has been staring at you.”
Qin Ke: “…”
Qin Ke: “I won’t look.”
Gu Xinqing: “——Why won’t you look?”
Qin Ke: “It affects my appetite.”
Gu Xinqing: “???”
Gu Xinqing: “Nonsense. Just by looks, Huo Jun is clearly at least a feast for the eyes!”
Qin Ke: “…”
Qin Ke didn’t explain, she just lifted her head.
Sure enough, the first thing she saw was a pair of pitch-black eyes.
After two seconds of eye contact, Qin Ke lowered her head again, expressionless.
——
A rabbit being stared at by a wolf, even if the wolf was a feast for the eyes, could the rabbit still have an appetite?
Qin Ke sighed in her heart.
“I’ve finished eating, I’ll go to the gathering point first.”
“Eh? But Ke Ke, you’ve only eaten a few bites of rice.”
“I’m not eating anymore.”
Qin Ke turned around, just about to take the first step, when she suddenly stopped.
She looked up and saw the person in front of her.
“Junior sister Qin Ke, it’s not good to only eat this little for breakfast, today’s field training will be very tough.”
Standing in front of Qin Ke was Gao Hao, with a sincere and gentlemanly expression on his face.
He reached out and handed the breakfast milk he was holding to Qin Ke.
“Take this, you can drink some when you’re hungry.”
“…”
Feeling that the elite class students from all three grades had already started looking this way, Qin Ke felt a bit overwhelmed. She didn’t want to entangle with Gao Hao here, so she had to reach out and accept it.
“Thank you, senior.”
“You’re welcome, junior sister.”
Gao Hao was the type who was good at reading people, especially when it came to relationships with the opposite sex. Seeing that Qin Ke was not enthusiastic, he nodded and left.
As soon as Gao Hao left, Qin Ke emotionlessly lowered her eyes, glancing at the breakfast milk in her hand.
Gu Xinqing came over enviously.
“How nice, you even have Senior Gao Hao giving you breakfast milk—he’s one of the school grass candidates. How about it, you must like this one, right?”
Qin Ke didn’t speak, only a hint of mockery flashed in her eyes.
She had no interest in Gao Hao, the scum who had a girlfriend but still coveted his girlfriend’s pretty sister.
But before Qin Ke could say anything, a tall figure suddenly appeared in front of her.
——
Huo Jun stood in front of her with his hands in his pockets, his eyes dark when he turned back.
The two looked at each other for a few seconds.
The boy’s thin lips lifted slightly, but there was no hint of a smile in his eyes.
Huo Jun didn’t speak.
He only pulled out his left hand, revealing a pale and slender palm.
He looked down at her.
The atmosphere was strange.
Even Gu Xinqing and the other students who were sneaking glances didn’t understand, they just watched the two of them without daring to breathe, guessing what was going on.
But Qin Ke couldn’t be clearer.
She sighed helplessly in her heart, her body already moving—the breakfast milk she had just received from Gao Hao was placed in the boy’s hand by a slender white hand.
Huo Jun narrowed his eyes slightly, suddenly closing his palm.
Unfortunately, the girl was alert, her claws escaping faster than a rabbit’s.
——
He missed.
Huo Jun looked down at the breakfast milk in his hand and suddenly chuckled.
“He’s not a good person.” Huo Jun looked up at Qin Ke, “You know?”
Qin Ke didn’t answer, she just asked softly, “And you are?”
“——”
Huo Jun’s eyes darkened.
But it seemed that Qin Ke didn’t intend to wait for his answer. She lightly pinched her numb fingertips, nodded slightly at Huo Jun, and then turned and walked away.
It wasn’t until Qin Ke’s figure disappeared outside the cafeteria door that the Qiao Jin and Qiao Yu brothers came over from the left and right. Qiao Jin was the first to stop next to Huo Jun, looking at the breakfast milk in Huo Jun’s hand.
“Brother Jun,” he looked up, smacked his lips, his expression complicated, “I haven’t snatched anything from a little girl since I graduated from kindergarten.”
“…………”
Huo Jun looked down, watched for two seconds, and sneered.
