- Chapter 17.4 - Abusing Scum, Tyranny, Three Rules (part 4)
“…Brother!”
The girl’s voice, almost on the verge of tears, rang out urgently.
The razor-sharp glass suddenly halted.
In the pitch-black eyes tinged with blood and covered with madness and ferocity, a trace of clarity finally broke through.
Huo Jun paused.
He didn’t retract his actions but simply turned his face slightly, looking at the girl whose eyes were turning slightly red with urgency. His gaze gradually softened.
For nearly ten seconds of almost stagnant air.
Huo Jun lowered his eyes and chuckled.
“Just scaring him.”
“What are you afraid of?”
Huo Jun tossed away the glass shard in his hand, straightened his knees, and stood up.
Wu Qingyue, almost releasing the breath he had been holding, hurried forward, kicked away the “weapon” that had already scared Gao Hao unconscious, and helped him up.
Wu Qingyue looked at Gu Xinqing, who was still in a daze—
“Quick, go to the infirmary and call for help!”
Gu Xinqing: “Ah…Oh, okay!”
After saying that, Wu Qingyue gave a complicated look at Huo Jun and then turned to Qin Ke.
“Qin Ke, he…”
Qin Ke naturally understood Wu Qingyue’s concern. She spoke up, “Teacher Wu, I’m here. You go take Gao Hao to the infirmary first.”
“Alright.”
Gu Xinqing and Wu Qingyue left the chaotic and messy scene one after another.
The shattered glass and the faint traces of blood among them almost made Qin Ke’s heart shrink. Her face turned a bit pale as she looked up at Huo Jun standing in the middle of the room.
“You…”
Perhaps due to just being furious, the boy’s face was equally pale and devoid of color. His thin lips appeared even redder, resembling a vampire who had just tasted blood.
Hearing the commotion, his beautiful and pitch-black eyes lifted, still carrying a hint of a smile as he looked at her.
“What did you just call me?”
Qin Ke: “…”
How could he still laugh at a time like this??
——
This lunatic!
Utterly insane and unreasonable!
Qin Ke turned her face away forcefully, took a deep breath, feeling like she was going crazy herself.
Huo Jun had already walked over.
“Qin Ke, I want to hear it again.”
Qin Ke couldn’t suppress her emotions any longer and turned back around, unable to bear it anymore.
“Huo Jun—do you realize you almost killed someone just now!”
The young man paused, then wiped away the coldness in his eyes, looking up with a hint of playfulness, biting his lip with a muted, low laugh.
“I didn’t, I was just scaring him.”
“You did!” Qin Ke clenched her cold fingertips tightly, her voice trembling slightly, “You clearly wanted to kill him just now!”
Huo Jun lowered his eyes, staring at her for two seconds, then suddenly smiled.
“How do you understand me so well?”
Qin Ke was speechless.
She didn’t know why, she just knew that at that moment, she was very clear—if she couldn’t stop it, then Huo Jun really might have killed Gao Hao with his own hands.
“Lunatic…”
Qin Ke turned her eyes away, not wanting to look at him, even this reprimand sounded somewhat weak.
Huo Jun looked up with a playful gaze. “Then what are you afraid of, Qin Ke?”
“?”
Qin Ke turned her gaze back to him, her eyes cold and sharp.
But Huo Jun was tickled by the girl’s appearance, like he had a face-off with an expressionless little cat, and lightly scratched himself with its paw.
He was pleasantly “tickled.”
“You’re not afraid of me at all, you’re just afraid I’ll really kill someone.”
Huo Jun chuckled softly.
Qin Ke furrowed her brows, her voice cold, “Who said I’m not afraid of you? I’m afraid now—you’re just a lunatic, I wish I had never met you.”
“…”
Huo Jun’s eyes deepened.
But in a moment, he laughed again, lowering his body until he was at eye level with the girl.
“Then you shouldn’t have stopped me, Qin Ke. Let me kill that scum, and I’ll take responsibility—I’ll kill both of those who bother you. Isn’t that better?”
Qin Ke gritted her teeth, angry and annoyed.
She looked up at him.
And Huo Jun took advantage.
“Or you can speak now—I’ll go catch that scum and kill him, or I’ll give you the ending you want most, how about that?”
“…”
Meeting those pitch-black eyes, Qin Ke’s eyes widened.
Because she couldn’t tell if Huo Jun was joking or if he would really do it for her.
Qin Ke felt scared.
But this fear wasn’t just about the potential harm this almost-crazy emotional attachment could bring her, it seemed she was also afraid of something else.
About him…
Qin Ke halted her thoughts in her heart.
She forced herself to lower her brows and eyes.
“Huo Jun, you’re a lunatic, but I’m not.”
Huo Jun laughed.
“So, you’re not afraid of me at all—you’re worried about me, Qin Ke.”
Qin Ke’s eyes flickered.
But she kept a slight frown on her face, hiding any emotional changes. Only her clear and clean eyes glanced slightly at Huo Jun.
“If you accidentally hurt someone trying to save me, can I get away from it? I’m not worried about you, but I’m worried about myself.”
“Is that so?”
“Just like that.”
“Hmm.” Huo Jun turned sideways. “Well, that’s fine then.”
That blood-stained slender palm brushed past Qin Ke’s eyelids. Its owner seemed to lack pain perception nerves as he let his hand drop, ready to slip it into his pocket.
“…”
Qin Ke’s temples throbbed.
Endure.
Endure…
Endure no more.
Qin Ke took two steps forward to the boy’s side, reached out, and directly grabbed his wrist, which was halfway into his pocket, pulled it up, and dragged him out.
Huo Jun was startled.
Then he smirked, tilted his head, and stepped out, letting the girl pull him along.
“Where are we going?” The boy lazily chuckled.
“The infirmary.” The girl gritted her teeth fiercely.
“…”
A low chuckle from behind.
Succeeded, delighted.
——
At this late hour, there was only one doctor on duty at the military training base. He was woken up by Wu Qingyue and began tending to Gao Hao, who was already scared unconscious and severely beaten.
So when Qin Ke dragged Huo Jun to the infirmary, besides an empty room next door, there wasn’t much that could help Huo Jun.
Qin Ke had no choice but to request the school doctor’s permission and then went to the cabinet to fetch alcohol, iodine, tweezers, gauze, a metal tray…
Then she pulled Huo Jun to sit on a sickbed.
Qin Ke herself took a stool and sat by the bed, while the other medical supplies were placed in the metal tray on the bedside cabinet, soaked in alcohol for sterilization.
Qin Ke spread out Huo Jun’s slender palm, observing which wounds had glass shards in them, her eyebrows furrowing involuntarily.
