This Wave of Zombies is No Good - Chapter 3
Next, Yu Jingtang neatly reorganized the students into groups and made arrangements. Since the original evacuation route was blocked, they would change to an underground route, which would take about ten days to leave the city.
After evacuating from the bank, the first resettlement was chosen to be a homestay hotel. There was an iron gate outside the homestay hotel that could resist zombies once locked.
Before it got dark, Yu Jingtang made arrangements and distributed some compressed biscuits to everyone. It was expected that they would start moving as a whole after retrieving the rescue supplies the next morning.
In the evening, everyone was settled in the homestay hotel. Finally having a comfortable bed, the students quickly fell asleep.
Zou Lang took the patrol shift from one to two in the morning. After his shift, he walked past a room and heard a low groan inside.
He thought for a moment and remembered that this room was where Yu Jingtang stayed alone. The door was not locked, so he pushed it open directly.
“Yu Jingtang, are you okay, are you hurt?”
Zou Lang looked at the person curled up on the bed in the moonlight. To see more clearly, he turned on the military emergency light with a flick of his hand.
A beam of white light illuminated the entire room. Yu Jingtang had half taken off his combat suit and was only wearing light innerwear. There was no blood on his body. At this moment, he was lying on the bed, awake. He was dazzled by the light and angrily said, “Turn it off!”
Zou Lang could only turn off the light, close the door in the dark, and climb to the side of the bed.
“Hey, are you injured? It’s a mess here, and it’s impossible to perform surgery.”
Yu Jingtang’s stomach hurt so much that his voice was slightly trembling, “I’m fine, it’s an old problem. Can you…shut up.”
This military second generation seemed to be a waste, not only a waste, but also a chatterbox.
Yu Jingtang was injured by shrapnel during a mission before. He was too close to the explosion point, and several pieces of shrapnel were not removed from his body. Eating compressed biscuits and drinking cold water would cause severe pain. Recently, this problem has become a bit serious.
Zou Lang had no sense of being annoying and continued to speak on his own. “I just love to talk. You can’t bear it alone. I see you’re in a lot of pain. What if you faint? If it hurts like this all the time, it can be fatal. If it’s an old problem, do you have medicine? Say if there’s anything that can help you.”
Yu Jingtang gritted his teeth and propped himself up, panting a few times, “Can you do me a favor… close the door from the outside.”
This mission deep into the fallen area shouldn’t have been his to take, but now that it had come to this, wasn’t it all thanks to the person in front of him?
Five people were to assist more than a dozen people, but they ended up being trapped halfway through, waiting for rescue.
If this was a group of civilians, there would be no need for a special soldier of his level to be dispatched. It was only because Zou Lang was the second son of Army Commander Zou’s family. People said that his resume mixed up in the military, and this Second Young Master Zou was just waiting for a promotion.
The situation was urgent everywhere, and the manpower and resources that could be deployed were limited, but they couldn’t be ignored.
Thus Army Commander Zou stepped in and appointed Yu Jingtang to carry out this rescue mission.
Yu Jingtang originally didn’t want to accept it, as a result, the leader said that regardless of whether the mission was successfully completed, as long as he went, his seriously ill mother would be moved to a better settlement, where there were better medical facilities, dialysis could be performed, and even a kidney transplant.
Hearing this, Yu Jingtang’s eyes twitched. Who doesn’t have a soft spot?
Unexpectedly, seeing Zou Lang in person was even more annoying than the rumors in all corners of the country.
Zou Lang saw Yu Jingtang’s face pale and sweaty. A feeling came up in his heart, surprisingly he felt distressed. If he were obedient, he wouldn’t be Zou Lang.
He was an army ruffian in the army before, and in this place without organization and discipline, it was even harder to make him obey than to reach the sky.
He was born to be insubordinate, and he didn’t believe that Yu Jingtang dared to kill him.
Calculating that Yu Jingtang had no strength to resist, he reached out and touched Yu Jingtang’s hand, which was cold.
“Don’t touch me!” Yu Jingtang frowned and suddenly made a move, counterattacking with a small capture technique, elbowing Zou Lang’s chest.
Zou Lang didn’t expect him to still have strength at this time, and he raised his leg to press down on Yu Jingtang’s legs. The two of them exchanged a few moves on the bed.
In the end, it was still Yu Jingtang who was physically exhausted and fell into a disadvantage. Zou Lang showed no mercy and kneed him in the stomach, not pitying fragrance and cherishing the jade at all. (TL: a metaphor for a man’s care and consideration for a woman)
Yu Jingtang let out a sob. Taking advantage of this, Zou Lang seized the opportunity to strike, one hand locking his throat while the other hand reached towards his body.
Struggling, unlike his cold and tough demeanor during the day, at this moment, he was weakened by pain all over, resisting half-heartedly like a rabbit with its fur puffed up.
“You can’t press like this, you’ll get hurt,” Zou Lang said, moving his hand without hesitation. He reached into his clothes and pressed against Yu Jingtang’s body. The body under the palm has abdominal muscles. Because of the pain, it softened a lot and was not hard, the texture was quite pleasant, and few small scars could also eb felt.
“Zou Lang, have I ever told you how much I dislike you?” Yu Jingtang gritted his teeth and thought to himself, realizing he might not have actually said it out loud but rather kept his aversion to himself.
Zou Lang wasn’t foolish; instead, quite astute. Taking the statement as a form of praise, he shamelessly replied, “I can tell. I don’t like you either. Look at those pretty students who used to flock around me, since you arrived last night, they’ve all turned their attention to you. But I belong to the Fire element, my hands have always been warm. Even if you don’t like me as a person, at least don’t have any physical problems with yourself.” As he spoke, his fingers lightly massaged him.
(TL: Fire element mentioned above is this →The Five Elements is a material view in ancient China. It is mostly used in philosophy, traditional Chinese medicine and divination. More info at the bottom.)
In the dark night, there was a slight gasp from Yu Jingtang. He straightened up a bit stiffly but didn’t push him away. Zou Lang’s words were not entirely wrong; indeed, his hands were warm.
“Don’t move; I’ll just warm you up, nothing else,” whispered Zou Lang in Yu Jingtang’s ear. He freed one hand and gently ran it along his back, feeling the person in his arms gradually relax from spasms.
As Yu Jingtang felt the gentle massage, the pain within him surprisingly quieted down. Exhausted from the day and unable to sleep due to pain at night, the comfort made him feel drowsy, gradually calming his breathing. Zou Lang also slowly drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, when Zou Lang woke up, the sun had already risen, and he found himself alone in the large bed. The beauty that was in his arms had long disappeared.
Yawning, Zou Lang headed downstairs. The others had already gathered.
Yu Jingtang was in combat gear inspecting equipment, standing there with impeccable posture like a drawn sword. As he descended the stairs, he glanced over without mentioning anything about last night’s events, not a trace of weakness or disarray from the previous night could be seen on his handsome face.
It was as if everything from last night was just an illusion created by Zou Lang—an illusory dream.
TN: The ancient Chinese philosophers looked to the natural world to find a way of describing how we are similar, yet unique. They discovered that pretty much anything in the world could be broken down into five energy types, which they called the Five Elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water.
